Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.46 Adds New Exclusive Car to PS5, PS4 Racer

Yay, the Sony car is here at last!

Yes, I know it's free so how could I possibly moan about it?! But here goes anyway... I've played the game, I found it lacking content and frankly these bitesize updates are 1. Nowhere near good enough and 2. Nowhere near soon enough.

The game isn't even installed on my PS5 anymore... and as tempting as doing that download again is...

They need to move on. Stack this dev time onto the next game already, and make sure you do a good job this time.

The game has heeps to do. Even when all the menus are done there are the extra menus, additional races and championships, missions,origional licence tests, the newer extra set of 6 licence tests to do, track mastery, car collecting, a robust online mode, FULL game VR support etc. This has far more content than any other racing game out there. Could they do more by adding additional tracks at a faster pace instead of adding cars all the time? Yes they could and really should do. Should they have implemented a 1 shot, 1lap qualification? Defenately but dont go and blatantly lie by saying the game is lacking content.

Best track racing game ever! Sublime support from Polyphony! Mastered physics! Gorgeous graphics! VR! Fin!

@Kidfunkadelic83 More tracks is relative. Gran Turismo 7 has 38 tracks in it, not including alternate and reverse layouts. The only games that have more than that without factoring in mods are the Project Cars games, which have fewer cars in the games as a trade off.

@nocdaes that’s your opinion. There are plenty of players on this game. I’m over 1000hrs and still play regularly (every few days).

They need to keep going and release some more new tracks

@Kidfunkadelic83 I'm not saying there isn't something there for some - clearly you got more out of it than I did - but the content isn't good enough. Those menu books are bite size and actually, when you consider how simple they are, they dry up very quickly too.

The game's an absolute disaster in my eyes. I do look back fondly on the first race at Monza - that was great - but too much of the rest of the game isn't good enough. And that's before we even get into the car buying and microtransactions.

Clearly some have enjoyed it. Plenty more have long since abandoned - and that's my point really. Maybe there is enough content in the game now? Extra driving tests is news to me incidentally(!) - but why wasn't it there before? Not good enough.

@bighal yes, it is my opinion but it's hardly an extreme view is it? It boils down to the fact GT made a terrible first impression and is still paying the price to this very day. Plenty dived back in and found a better game waiting for them, but for me, I say abandon this already and get the next one right from the start.

@BeerIsAwesome but with so many famouse track not featured would it not be nice to have a few of them added along with additional class races to accompany them? Reverse tracks are just a cheap way to bolster your count especially when you could add in tracks like silverstone, Monaco etc. Maybe its a license thing?. Dont get me wrong as i love the game as my defensive comment about there being a lack of content above points to but i do think, whilst the game has a fantastic ammount of content a few more tracks would be appreciated as opposed to a drip feed of more cars. With an already blistering ammount of cars id now take that trade off.

@Kidfunkadelic83 I can't argue either way. In all honesty, this game is still getting updates at a point when a lot of racing games have ceased support, so every patch is a boon at this point. We may not be getting tracks, but there's still plenty if you like taking photos in the scapes, and customizing your cars. As I recall, last update they actually dropped some officially licensed anime decals. I don't remember the name of the anime, but it was (still is?) a brand new anime centred all around motor racing.

Licenses for real world tracks can be a pain, but it can be argued that GT as a series sported some of these best fictional circuits in gaming. There's still plenty of them that haven't returned for the HD era of games, let alone the 4K era. I guess that could be an idea if they don't wish to shell out for more tracks. I would love to race through some of the old classics!

As for cars, I guess the Vision GT is almost an obligation at this point, and the Afeela makes sense. Anything more is often fan service.

@BeerIsAwesome i cant argue that there are some banging fictional tracks from past GT games that would be a welcome addition.

@Kidfunkadelic83 it still has FAR less races/events than Gran Turismo 4 did. GT4 also had more cars and more tracks.

Also, extra menus are not content. You just have to go and get the three cars, if you already have them they're already done. That ain't gameplay.

@Kidfunkadelic83 oh and also, consider the quality of that content. What did the extra set of license tests add, really? They're just more of the same that we've been doing for decades, they don't even serve a purpose. Nothing is unlocked by beating them and getting the "license".

Great! Now add some extra tracks. Is it too much to ask to release 2-3 new tracks every year? Nonetheless, it is still one of my favourite PS5 games, especially with PSVR2. I wish more racing games support VR like GT7 does.

@weeniebeenie ok, take out the extra licenses. Pretend they dont exist and dont offer any sort of extra challenge, even if it is just achieving the time for a gold medal score, ok? There is still a ***** ton of content on offer. It doesnt matter if GT7 has less tracks than 4 or indeed any other GT game past, present or future. My challenge was to someone that said GT7 has no content to offer, which it clearly does. Should we be getting a few more tracks real world or fictional apart from the shoddy snow oval? Yes. As i said in a previous post, I would love to see a few more real world tracks in future updates as opposed to cars with additional class races attached to said tracks. There is enough cars already but there is still content included in this game.

@Kidfunkadelic83 GT7 has far less events than the previous games, and the events they do have, are almost all very short. You can have the entire cafe mode done in about 12 hours, 3-4 more for the extra events.

Missions again aren't that extensive and I don't particulary count Circuit Mastery AKA time trials as content personally. Even more so when a lot of them they just copied verbatim from GT Sport where I already did them.

Now they're adding "weekly challenges" which sounds great on paper, except 4/5 of them aren't even new, they're just asking you to re-do the menu book races again.

They have so much potential with the game that they aren't using, so many cars don't have many events.
