How Awesome Does The New Lara Croft Look? Very Awesome Is The Answer.

Y'know what franchise is getting a reboot after a long, long time? Tomb Raider. That's right, Square Enix has announced a new Tomb Raider game called, well, Tomb Raider. It's an origin story too, and it looks kinda awesome.

"Forget everything you knew about Tomb Raider," said Darrell Gallagher, head of developers, Crystal Dynamics. "This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character defining journey like no other."

The game will star an inexperienced Lara Croft "charting the journey of an ordinary woman who finds out just how far she must go in order to stay alive."

GameInformer magazine's got the full scoop in their latest issue. The publication's teased:

“In our world-exclusive cover story, we uncover a brand-new Lara Croft. Rebooting the Tomb Raider franchise through an origin story wasn’t so much a choice as an act of necessity, according to Crystal Dynamics. Drastic measures were needed. To build an entirely fresh Lara – a culturally relevant hero worth of the attention that once came so effortlessly – they must break her first. In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive.”

The artwork used on the GameInformer cover is absolutely brilliant. One image is all it took to send our hype levels through the roof. We can't wait for more details.
