"What has happened to my Final Fantasy XIII?" the question on the avid's lips.
If you're eyes aren't trained enough to notice the differences between the August 2008 screen (left) and June 2009 screen (right), let us play spot the difference for you: poorer background textures, blurry depth of field effect type thing, worse water, significantly less texture on clothing, different hair rendering, polygonal shoulders.
We're sure there are more differences to pick up on if you care to study the images. The game looks good in both screenshots but undeniably worse in the newer screen. The reasoning could be one of many: the original screen is "doctored"; the original screen is not running through a home console (rather a super PC); or, Square Enix are keeping that XBOX 360 port in mind. Hides.
Let's hope for Square Enix's reputation that nothing ever comes out supporting reasoning for the latter. The Internet would probably explode.
