With Insomniac Games stepping away from the Resistance franchise, and Nihilistic’s recent Vita spin-off failing to impress critics, the fate of the first-person franchise is in doubt.
Chatting with Official PlayStation Magazine, producer Daniel Brooke confirmed what many of us expected, that there are “no definitive plans” for the future of the series.
While that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a sequel, we’re not holding our breath. Despite the quality of the third entry, it failed to light up the charts in the same way as its predecessors. Not to mention, Sony already has a much more popular first-person shooter brand in Killzone.
Are you eager for another Resistance title, or do you think it's time the series took a rest?

Resistance 3 multiplayer sucked, there i said it, quote me on it. Resistance 2 is the highlight of the series. I still play Co-op online to this day. Im still waiting on something to top R2, and nothing has...well maybe borderlands...I will say that without insomniac developing any future games in this franchise it is doomed. As it should be, it doesnt belong to another developer.Id rather Resistance than killzone though, anyday.
It should have ended with a bang: Resistance 3.
I actually find Resistance 2 and Burning Skies to both be enjoyable but fairly average games at best, 1, 3 and Retribution are phenomenal though. It's somewhat disappointing the series may be on hold for a while but on the other hand there is such a thing as overkill. If dropping Resistance means another new IP to go with Beyond and The Last of Us, fine by me.
