A swift snippet from Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference earlier today: PlayStation Mobile will officially launch on 3rd October. The cross-platform initiative will be supported by both Sharp and Fujitsu, who have officially joined the growing list of certified hardware providers.
The service will launch alongside 30 games. It will be initially available in Japan, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia.
Sony's also confirmed that the PlayStation Mobile SDK will release to amateur developers in November. The software package will cost $99.99 a year, which is surprisingly affordable.

Now all they need to do is make a new Xperia Play, I'm loathing my upgrade coming next year, love my Play but it's too under-powered!
Sold my XP Play and bought a Galaxy S2.
I'm so willing to buy the new Xperia Play, should it come with a good GPU and 1.5 dual core CPU.
So does this mean I can play Android games on my Vita? I keep hoping they will release the NOVA and Modern Combat games.
