Despite the recent release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the PlayStation 4 is starting to slump in Japan. While the system remains difficult to track down in the West, the changing nature of the Eastern market means that Sony is struggling to replicate that success in its home nation. One title that may give the next-gen device a boost, however, is Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn. It’s unsurprising, then, that the company has created this limited edition hardware bundle.
Much like the Yakuza Ishin and Kojima Productions endorsed appliances before it, this premium package proudly bears some laser etched artwork from Square Enix’s popular MMO. The spruced up system will be bundled with a copy of the game for ¥45,180 ($435), and will be made available on 14th April – the same day as the game. The catch is that only 1,400 units will be produced, so you’re going to need to climb aboard your fastest Chocobo now if you want one.

Looks pretty poor doesn't it.
I like the idea of a cheap custom hdd panels for blockbuster titles. Just as accessories, tho, not as a reason to buy another console. Just sell the covers
I like it, but the designs should be bigger.
Looks nice, but were talking about a technically 4 year old game w/ bad reviews - or 7 months old for the rehash - so is it really going to be a system selling game? I'm sure the 1,400 consoles will sell just because.
@rjejr Final Fantasy XIV was completely rebuilt from the ground up. A Realm Reborn is doing EXTREMELY well and pretty much single handedly saved Square Enix.
Judging from the quality of the beta, this will easily be a system seller. You can get the full experience of a high end MMO without shelling out a ton of money for a gaming PC. I built up a gaming PC just to play this game to it's full experiences, but I cannot wait for this to come out on PS4!
@NathanUC - Well guess I stand corrected then. MMOs have never been my thing, and I didn't think the japanese liked games w/ subscription costs, though DQ sem sot be doing fairly well over there. Guess we'll know in a few weeks, those media create people are very on top of things over there.
@rjejr its not going to be a system seller (no game on multiple platforms can truly be that) but FFXIV is doing extremely well with the relaunch. Read reviews of the new game, its quite a dramatic difference. I have it on the PS3 the PC and I've played the PS4 beta. I can't wait for the PS4 version launch.
@thedevilsjester - "Read reviews of the new game"
Well I'll give them credit if they improved it that much, I'll admit all my views of this are based on the original, which seemed to be universally derided, so I thought this was more a new coat of paint DLC thing, like Diablo 3 on PS3 compared to PC which seemed improved but not drastically so.
@ rjejr
Diablo3 on the PS3 is a better version than the PC version, meny things where improved. The menu system which you'll spend a lot of time in sorting out your loot etc had a complete overhaul, built especially for the console version PS3/360. The PS4 version will have exclusive features, that's not on the PC or PS3 version. Blizzard did an excellent job of Diablo3 on the PS3, and the same will be said about the PS4.
@rjejr no, its not a coat of paint, nor did they just fix the problems with the original, they started over entirely. From the ground up they built a new MMO with a new engine. They reused some of the same art assets (heavily modified of course) but even the game world was completely redesigned.
They have done something never done before, and succeeded.
@thedevilsjester - Sounds like they should have renamed it FF15 then and avoided the bad history. Or FF14-X or FF14-2. Simply FF14: A Realm Reborn sounds like DLC to me. Though since I'm the only one who seems to think so I'm guessing in this instance it really is just me.
@banacheck - Diablo 3 on PS3 wouldn't' happen to have couch multiplayer would it? We're big fans of couch multiplayer. Dungeon Hunter Alliance and the Gauntlet games are always a big hit. I miss Gauntlets cheesiness.
@rjejr Diablo 3 on the PS3 (and PS4) does have couch multiplayer, and the controller is a natural fit for the D3 interface.
@thedevilsjester - Thanks, I'll add it to the list. Played Advance Wars 2 player on the couch this afternoon. Held up pretty well for a 13 year old handheld game on a 52" tv screen.
