SEGA may not be very good at anything else these days, but it sure knows how to pump out new Yakuza titles in Japan. Despite historical spin-off Yakuza Ishin launching less than six months ago, the publisher is now preparing for the announcement of a new franchise foray for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 – and you’ll be able to beg for a localisation from 24th August.
Unsurprisingly, not a whole lot is known about the title just yet, but it will apparently feature bustling urban environments, suggesting that it will be a direct sequel to Yakuza 5, rather than some sort of side story. The former platform holder recently held a competition, allowing fans to get their faces in the game. Considering that these shores haven’t seen an entry in this series for over two years now, we’re tempering our anticipation for this reveal.

Always good to see a new Ryu Ga Gotoku even if Sega aren't publishing it over here. In regards to Yakuza 5 there is a campaign happening called #DayOfTheDragon this week. Can find details on the Sega Yakuza Forum or on OtakugamersUk website (Won't directly link incase it's against the rules.)
@Reverandjames SEGA gonna SEGA... Um err...
Sega seem to blame it on Binary Domain and Dead Souls not performing to standards. It's a shame as I have been playing Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin (Yakuza Restoration I believe) and it's fantastic! Really tempted to double dip for a Ps4 version aswell after playing the demo off of JPN PSN
Dead Souls was pretty poor. Death to Sega.
As bad as Dead Souls is I have found myself enjoying it at points. Poor show for SEGA to base the series future off the spin off that was poorly received in Japan aswell rather than the fairly successful Yakuza 4
@NamelessAndi Sega are a bit clueless really. I do hope they get their act together and start sending games west as common sense suggests a good yakuza game will sell anywhere.
Yeah I enjoyed moments in dead souls but I gave up on it after a few hours.
I actually got a weird kind of enjoyment out of Dead Souls. It's janky and rushed, but as a silly spin-off, I thought it was sort of fun. If that's the reason for the series' death overseas, though, I wish they never released it over here.
@get2sammyb I do find myself enjoying at aswell but i'm currently mopping up sub stories for the end game and it's taking it's toll on me.
If Dead Souls did cause use to not get Yakuza 5 then yeah it's a crap trade off but I see it as. better to have Dead Souls than nothing at all.
Despite the language barrier the other spin offs are fantastic, especially Kenzan!
@get2sammyb Nothing like karaoke, hostess girls, guns and zombies to bring a game together eh? lol I'm hoping Sony and Nintendo can help with localization efforts. Even Xseed would be a welcome vanguard since they brought The Last Story to the west. Best Wii game I've ever played, second to Xenoblade Chronicles.
@kensredemption I have been waiting for that Wii U Yakuza collection. Too bad they don't want our money...
I got Yakuza 3 at launch. One of the few PS3 games that I have paid full price for, and I don't regret it. Haven't touched the other ones yet.
@eaglebob345 Yeah...it sure seems that way. I just don't see why Sega won't even take the risk. It makes me want to slash my wrists sometimes. No joke.
