We've got to admit, the rollout of the PlayStation 4's first price drop has been so disjointed that it's been hard to muster a whole lot of enthusiasm about it. First it was Japan that decided to play limbo, with the rest of Asia following a few days later. North America joined the lower priced party earlier in the month, and now finally – after a series of leaks – Europe is on the fun.
Starting from today, you'll be able to purchase a 500GB PS4 for £299.99 in the UK and €349.99 around Europe. Now, we know what you're thinking: the console's already been cheaper. Yes, it has, so this price drop will enable retailers to go even lower than the abovementioned RRP. We know that it's a bit confusing, but that's the way that things work here in Europe.

It was a good deal before so i only one already. I'm not gonna wait for a 50 euro discount or more to get it even later.....
Can't put a price on the fun I've had with my launch PS4. Well, you can, but it's more than £50
I paid £320 for my MGS v edition ps4 and it also came with the game, so i dont think a price drop to £299 is much to shout about
@CplClot As pointed out in the article, the price drop to £299 should see retailers go down to £279 and maybe lower.
I got the Uncharted bundle from Argos last week for £329 for 1TB (12XX) PS4, uncharted, evolve, plus £20 argos voucher. Seemed like a good time to finally jump into the next gen.
£339 for the 1TB model and then SCEE decides not to be a bunch of incompetent apes and do something right.
I'm impressed. Now they need to work on everything else. Everything.
I have been very impressed with how Sony has handled things this gen. Lots of great games out now and on the horizon. It's a great time to be a gamer, no matter what platform you choose. We all know at this point that only one game truly matters this holiday, the big boy, fallout 4! All aboard the hype train! First stop, Boston Wasteland!
If before the RRP was £349 and it was being sold by retail at £300, this drop to £300 will probably mean £250 price on the street...
Are there crazy low Black Friday sales in the EU, or does always being below RRP mean that's as good as it gets?
VAT is included with those prices right, b/c they don't look great with the exchange rate?
How's the gift card situation over there? Target - my favorite retailor - was giving out $50 GC the week the price drop took effect from $400 to $350, making it effectively $300. Of course I'd still have to pay -$380 with tax.
Still waiting for Uncharted 4. Man I'm going to feel stupid if it doesn't get bundled.
@rjejr Black Friday has been adopted only recently in parts by the UK market but the scale is small compared to America. Value added tax is included in the price.
£299 for a ps4 is amazing, if @Bad-MuthaAdebisi is right £250 plus a game is a steal. If you don't jump then you are either a tramp or a fool.
SONY should of done a Worldwide Price cut all at the same time i think. This seems all over the place and less of a erm BANG! Cool tho anyway and makes me want another 1
@rjejr Yeah, as @themcnoisy said, Black Friday has started to catch on in the UK, but while I expect it'll be even bigger this year, it still won't be anything like America.
@get2sammyb "it still won't be anything like America."
Well that's probably good, means you miss out on all the violence and bodily harm that goes along with the madness just to save a few $ that you then need to spend on Doctor bills. .
Not a bad deal, seen better but if £250 with a game isn't good enough for you then you deserve to be on last gen.
@rjejr It's getting a bit ridiculous. Last year there was scary footage of hideous women fighting over discount lingerie and crowds rushing to get cheap TVs!
Expecting £250 with a game now then around BF and Christmas.
@mookysam That's just a normal day in Walmart.

@get2sammyb Oops, too late.
@rjejr
You're going to feel stupid? Everybody at SCEA is going to look, and should feel, stupid if Uncharted 4 isn't bundled.
I can't stand Black Friday and the like. Watching people physically assault each other to buy a cheap TV just personifies the worst side of humanity.
I got my new PS4 for £299 with Fifa 16 from Argos, mainly because they were offering 3 years warranty for £46 and after my launch one dying and Sony wanting an eye watering £175 to repair it.. I don't have to worry about it now.
That cost is fine with me, a decent gfx card for a PC will run you pretty much the same.
