It would appear that Sony's seen sense: pre-orders for the $399.99 PlayStation VR core bundle will open at 07:00AM PT on Tuesday, 29th March in North America. Previously, the platform holder indicated that you'd only be able to register your interest in the $499.99 Launch Bundle – which comes with a PlayStation Camera and a couple of PlayStation Move controllers – but it's since changed its stance.
"Thanks to everyone for sharing their feedback on PlayStation VR pre-orders," marketing guru John Koller wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "It's clear that there's a lot of interest from many of you to secure the PlayStation VR core system. If you're interested in owning PlayStation VR on day one, mark those calendars, as we're expecting these units to sell out quickly." You know what you need to do.

@SonyInfinity Worth noting that pre-orders for the non-bundle version open on 29th March - so next week if you don't want the Camera/Move controllers.
@MadAussieBloke no, you have it backwards. They changed their minds BECAUSE of the anger.
@NeoTechni may have been a hint of sarcasm I think
@MadAussieBloke except they said they only changed their mind because of the outrage. They weren't going to let us anytime soon
@MadAussieBloke "There was always going to be a base model though..."
And PS4 was always going to come bundled w/ the camera, until it wasn't.
@MadAussieBloke If you reverse those 2 sentences it makes just as much sense. If not more.
"Because angry youtube gamer #90586 was upset. It was taken out to cut the price of the PS4 so it would sell better than Xbone"

See what I did there?
"SONY knows what they're doing when it comes to marketing"
The $500 24" 3D display and recently discontinued PS Vita TV say hi.

I'd make a joke about PSPgo here but Sony has so thoroughly removed it from existence that I'd swear they built a time machine just to go back and alter history so it was never created.
@SonyInfinity
Now all you need to do is spread $30 on the customer service desk at BestBuy, ask for a Gamer's Club Unlocked Membership, and enjoy saving 20% on all new games for the span of 2 years. That $80 No Man Sky LE? That's $16 off right there, giving you 2 years to make back the other $14.
It's a savings of $12 per $60 game, or $8 per $40 handheld game. I have literally saved, and I kid you not, about $1500 in my first 2 year membership. I hit Elite Plus both years and you have to spend $3500 to do that, so ya... And all for just $30 measly bucks.
@JaxonH Let me know when you try to renew, I want to see if they figure out a way to ban you.
What are you gonna do if everything goes all digital next gen? You think they'll give you the discount on download code cards? I still don't have GCU, though I did save 20% off Pokken last week w/ Amazon Prime. Get to renew on Sunday for Doctor Who, finally the Dr is back, my entire family was going thru withdrawls, we finished season 4 when Netflix dropped it. So that means another 12 months of Prime discounts for us. The 2 day shipping is nice too, trying to reach $50 every order is a pain.
Well better end it there before Tasuki comes to scold us for going off topic again.
@MadAussieBloke Ooh, nice "other company" dig. Don't ask.
@rjejr
You and my bro would get along great. He LOVES Dr Who.
@MadAussieBloke
The danger with that is people stop trusting them to support their own products. It's better to flog a dead horse, take a loss, and show your customers you're willing to back your products no matter what, than it is to jump ship, save a few bucks and squander all consumer trust. I bought a Vita day one, and their all-too-quick abandonment of the platform left me with the jitters on whether I should ever invest in one of their non-home-console platforms again. Like PSVR. Which I still haven't fully committed to following through on. You know how the saying goes- if a dog bites once...
@JaxonH
Dude, that would mean you bought for about $7500 worth of games at Best Buy alone! Where do you get the time to play em all? That's about 10 games a month, give or take... Wow! Best Buy's offer is pretty sweet though: makes every new game on the market drop immediately below the $50 mark.
A $50 or less pricetag is usually all it takes for me to pre order, especially since I started selling my used games about 2 years ago. I used to hold on to about every title, where I'd usually only replay Nintendo titles or Souls games, so I decided to start selling games when they were still hot; I would actually make money playing games, were it not for all the collector's editions and guides I buy.
An unemployed friend of mine searches for all the best deals online and then notifies me, I haven't paid more than $50 for a pre order in ages now! And the strange thing is that the moment these games actually hit the store shelves, sometimes they're discounted the first week, but usually the price goes back up to $60 or more right away and stays there for a couple of months (€60 to be exact, and I believe in Europe the RRP is actually €70 instead of €60). So when I finish a game within a month and sell it on a local online marketplace, I actually tend to get more than I spend on it!
I'm glad Sony listens from time to time. Now if they can announce a crash game at e3, they will have my eternal praise this generation.
@Boerewors
If you're the type that doesn't mind selling games, then you can do really well playing your cards right.
This is not a change in anything. No not because of any angry users. From the start Sony Said the Bundle would go on sale March 22nd and the core unit would go on sale at a later date. They did not give that date and now have announced it as March 29th. It was never going to be sold as a bundle only!!
BestBuy Gamers Club Unlocked is for ANY new game even older titles and games at sale prices. Amazon is for pre-orders of new games only. I racked up on Black Friday sales at sale price plus the 20% discount added to that at BestBuy!!!
