Konami has revealed Metal Gear Survive at Gamescom 2016, the first game in the series to not have any input from series creator Hideo Kojima, who parted ways with the company last year following the release of The Phantom Pain. Set for a 2017 launch on PlayStation 4, the new title is a four-player co-op game that takes place in an alternate timeline after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.
Metal Gear Survive will run on the Fox Engine and will pit four players against zombie-like enemies with the aim of surviving the onslaught. Sound like Metal Gear? Well, like previous entries, stealth will be a central mechanic; however, weaponry will also be available. More information will be released at Gamescom as the week progresses.

Good God! This is going to be a mess.
Konami, get in the sea.
@get2sammyb yeah i have visions of a game like umbrella corps
LOL
Metal Gear did not survive...
Metal Gear is dead...
This gets made and no sequel to MGR Revengance?
This doesn't look promising, but at least they aren't trying to scrape together a main series game
And the milking begins...
Wow. That's not metal gear. Just uses the same engine.
Yeah ......no
And the end of MGS truly begins.
@ISTARGAZERI Metal Gear Died when Ground Zeroes released, you could tell then the way it was going
R.I.P Metal Gear 1987-2015
@get2sammyb
I won't buy it, but on a positive note, at least Konami is cresting a new console title (even if it probably uses some old assets).
I thought nothing could be worse than The Phantom Pain, I admit I was wrong.
But, most of the hate directed at this spinoff project is premature and simply from #funkonami.
Konami suits:
"So, we'd like some quick cash. What do we have in the cupboard - oh, we have the name Metal Gear, people like that, oh and we have all the components for that Metal Gear Solid game we invested loads into and then pulled the switch on last minute. Oh wait, and people like zombies right? I mean there are two Walking Dead series going. I think I have an idea..."
When the game underperforms:
"Damn that Hideo Kojima".
@sub12 Yeah, I guess the silver lining is that it's not a pachinko machine!
WTF boss!
Co-op and zombies? All they need now is crafting and Dark Souls combat to cater for the mainstream.
People hating on Konami what a suprise.
C R A F T I N G S Y S T E M
Metal Gear L4D.
Set in an alternate timeline where Kojima is still with Konami and real Metal Gear games keep getting made.
I think I just cried, and not in a good way.... At all. 😞😖😢
Good ... Konami did just what the fans hope for...
A laughing stock to bash on...
lol
No. Thank you. I'm good, Konami.
Zombies. In 2016.
You're at least 3 years late, Konami.
You what? YOU WHAT?!?
SURELY NOT!
@dryrain That's the way of things. Konami do something awful. People hate it. Fin.
@dryrain
Give me a good reason why people shouldn't hate the current Konami?
What a way to kill a beloved franchise Konami?
PES2017 is a good reason no to hate Konami.
@JoeBlogs Totally agree could be good just don't use the MGS name if it bombs you destroy the franchise. I think MGS should be retired now the story is done let Snake get a good sendoff.
sadly this game will sell well in the US, MGS was a stealth game with strategy gameplay, easy money Konamy with this shooter a la hollywood.
This is even more off the mark than Silent Hill: Book of Memories. What's next...a Castlevania first person shooter? (I might actually buy that)
I think they're trying to commit suicide. I mean...after an abomination like this, they'll just have more of a reason to quit the video game biz and focus solely on their stupid pachinko machines.
hahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahha oh my
Man, I wonder what will a pachinko Metal Gear look like?
Screw Kojima, Screw Konami, Screw the Metel Gear Franchise. Lets all go play Ape Escape 2 now on PS4!
@Eternallover21 Yeah, it might well be fun, but it's not Metal Gear. If they called it something else it wouldn't be an issue. If it's bad, it will well and truly kill off the franchise.
@Savino Thats what people said about Metroid Federation Force
@SoulsBourne128

To be fair I'm sure Konami are banking on this game shifting more units since it's based on the MG universe than it would if it was a new franchise, and I don't think they are wrong. Why shouldn't they after all, they funded it all these years. Don't suppose upsetting the hardcore fan base will bother them much.
I'll judge it fairly. I don't care if people don't like Konami, that doesn't automatically make it a bad game.
It very well may turn out to be a bad game but I'm not going to automatically make that assumption.
I'll buy it for the plot
Metal Gear has... changed.
Hey, there is probably other developers in konami that are really good. I won't judge this game or call it bad without seeing actual gameplay because all I'm seeing is a video with no gameplay at all. This could be a cool freakin game, you never know. I think the hate is only on konami getting rid of Hideo Kojima.
I wouldn't say it's surviving. More ungracefully dying, I think.
Can't say I'm surprised the series is dead just disappointed.
