You'd think that a consumer electronics company like Sony wouldn't have too much trouble putting out a pair of headphones, but the anticipated PlayStation 4 Platinum Wireless Headset appears to have been pushed back again. It was originally due out this week, but Amazon's now showing a release date of 31st January. We're guessing that this is some kind of manufacturing or distribution hiccup.
The good thing is that the 'phones are sounding pretty tasty still; they're packing some pretty cool virtual 7.1 surround sound technology, and Naughty Dog is even going to patch Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in order to support 3D audio. We'll bring you a review of these as soon as we get them in the office, which judging by the current state of affairs is hopefully some time before we're six feet under.

@DLB3 Boo! Hopefully soon.
@DLB3 Golds are crap xD Mine are totally broken!
I'm on my second pair of Gold's, had to glue the hinges so they don't fold and unfold all the time and break.
Build quality is not up to Sony standards Imo.
@AFCC and yet my first pair are still going strong almost 3 years on.
I got the Golds on launch day and they are honestly still good as new.
My gold headset broke after only 5-6 months after launch. I had them duct taped at the cheap plastic hinge that broke and used them for another 4 months before I got sick of having to replace the tape. The sound quality and features were nice, but i'm not buying another one of those headsets when they're clearly not intended for extensive use.
I like the Gold headsets but you do have to be real careful with them. I wish they didn't fold.
Really surprised by the comments on the Golds. I completely agree that they feel flimsy (and they must be given how many people say theirs have broken) but mine are genuinely still in brand new condition.
@get2sammyb I've gone through 3 pairs, one was my fault but the other two both broke the same way.
First the padding/fabric inside the ear piece just falls to pieces on all 3 I had. Then for two of them the hinges where it folds just snaps eventually.
I have the golds too and they have been fine. Must be one of those things where you get a good one or a bad one. I don't fold mine very often though, I tend to leave them as they are. On a side note what is the differences between the gold and platinum headsets? Because that is a huge price difference.
@Starman292 They are supposedly better build quality, 7.1 surround + 3D audio and 50mm drivers vs 40mm in the Gold headset.
@arsenio3d
Ah okay, thanks for the info. I'd like to try a pair so I could actually see the difference.
My Gold headset held up, but I lost them a couple weeks ago... I've been having to use my PlayStation Camera for a mic. Hope these actually come out on time, cuz I could use a new set.
I'd love a pair of these when I eventually get a Pro but with having an XB1 and already own an Astro A40 it's not ideal, especially when it's exclusively for a PS4.
