MediEvil’s been dormant as a franchise for over a decade, but fans have bridged the gap with various personal art projects over the years. Sir Dan is such a popular character that Deviant Art is awash with sketches and renders of the regal hero – including Clive ‘n’ Wrench creator Rob Wass’ model, which ended up in the recent reveal trailer for the franchise’s forthcoming PlayStation 4 remaster.
The evidence is irrefutable, as Wass’ work overlaps perfectly with the silhouette seen in the trailer:
We spoke to Wass, and he told us that Sony never contacted him to ask permission for the artwork. He’s not angry, however – in fact, he told us that he’s humbled that the platform holder was able to mistake his render for something more official. Nevertheless, the manufacturer may want to hook him up with a free copy of the game when it launches. Just sayin'.
In the meantime, you can find out about Wass’ current project through here. And you can learn more about the history of MediEvil in our Making Of feature.

Tbh, I thought that animation looked a little bad/cheeky. I guess it makes sense now.... shame on them for not asking for permission.
If this is true why couldn't the team use actual assets from what they are working on?
@YummyHappyPills Your love for Sony knows no bounds. At this point, I just read articles to read your comments and see how Sony messed up this time.
@YummyHappyPills Yup. Sony sucks, Ninty rules.
Makes sense.
@YummyHappyPills It's not really hard to see how it happens TBF. This is a company with 1000s of employees; a video editor was told to put together a MediEvil teaser and this is what he came up with. Simple.
The render's a silhouette in the background, so only the original creator would ever really notice that it's fan art. And the person who downloaded it off Google Images too, of course.
Well, I mean, Sony does hold the rights to MediEvil, so people really can't blame them, especially when this is just a reveal trailer.
