Shenmue III’s scheduled to release in 2018, and a trio of new PlayStation 4 screenshots show the progress that the project’s making. First up we get a new glimpse of protagonists Ryo Hazuki and Shenhua, who are beginning to resemble their Dreamcast counterparts. There’s still work to be done, but at least the character models look somewhat human at this stage.
The other shots show some environmental artwork, and are much more impressive. The colour palette is distinctly 'Shenmue', and the attention to detail is great. Apparently we’ll learn more about the long-awaited sequel on 24th February, when director Yu Suzuki is expected to attend MAGIC Monaco as a guest.

Now all we need is a HD collection of 1 and 2,
and all is right in the world of Shenmue again.
I imagine everyone that backed this would also back vol 4 and buy the remasters. Hopefully it'll hit this year.
I backed it at the tier where I get my name in the credits! Haha
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
I would get the remasters for sure.
Seeing that i already have multiple copies of Shenmue 1 and 2 from different regions.
Looking good! Can’t wait to get my hands on this!
Looks better yes, but I still want the HD remasters.
You can tell their faces aren't so tired anymore, even with just a picture.
Cautiously optimistic about this. I never played any of these but the series sounds interesting. A little worried about the final product, but will withhold judgment.
Backed this for a physical copy of the game. Really wish SEGA would hurry up with a remaster or even just a port of 1 and 2. It's been a long time since I played the original.
Not sure if I can play Shenmue 3 without play the first two games.
@PS_Nation That's one of the big reasons why a remaster of the first two games would be great.
It's especially hard for gamers in North America to play the first two games; the first was released on the Dreamcast and the second was released on the original Xbox.
The visuals are looking better, not that they looked that bad to begin with.
They're definitely improved, but why does it looks like Ryo's head is too small for his body in the first one?
Maybe it's just me.
@gp_amuro sold my copies about 5 years ago, I'd given up on a sequel, only reason I'd kept my dreamcast until then, ugh
