New releases have dominated the latest weekly chart, with Sea of Thieves, A Way Out, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, and Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered debuting in the top four spaces. As you might have guessed, this makes for a very different top 10 to the previous chart, which was more or less made up of the usual suspects.
Almost everything has moved down, with the exception of EA Sports UFC 3, which maintains its position at No.8. The biggest drop is Burnout Paradise Remastered, which crashes down to sixth after debuting at the top of the chart.
Here's the latest top 10:
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 24th March, 2018
- Sea of Thieves
- A Way Out
- Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
- Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered
- FIFA 18
- Burnout Paradise Remastered
- Grand Theft Auto V
- EA Sports UFC 3
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Super Mario Odyssey

Happy for A way out. Was hoping for a bit better for Ni no Kuni, though
That’s amazing that an Xbox exclusive is in the no. 1 slot. Haven’t seen that in a while.
Seems to me A Way Out would probably be the sort of game people are more likely to download, at least compared to other games. So it probably did pretty good overall.
A shame Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom didn't do a bit better. Still, we'll see how it's looking next week too.
@JoeBlogs Nah it did decently — enough to warrant a sequel — but nothing too impressive. Be interesting to see the numbers.
@JoeBlogs Not exactly fierce competition though. Just the usual suspects.
@Th3solution It's impressive but only if that chart doesn't take into account PC sales since Sea of Thieves isn't only on Xbox. I think it's more surprising to see a cartoony JRPG with a foreign sounding name so high up the UK charts. Normally we only seem to buy FIFA and "realistic" games.
Wow, Sea of Thieves at #1 is a surprise. Would love to see the actual sales numbers.
Huh, an xbox exclusive at the top, that a rare sight
@Matroska it's only physical Xbox sales so it's pretty impressive when you consider PC sales, Xbox digital sales and of course it's inclusion with gamepass, so many like myself technically never bought it. Not to mention it is a great game and a lot of fun whilst being a refreshing change from the grindy nature online games tend to suffer with.
I still haven't got Ni No Kuni 2 despite the first being in my top 2 or 3 games of last gen. It would have been a day one purchase but the changes to the combat system and removal of the familiars has put me off somewhat. I'll likely still get it just not yet as I've got too many games to play
@Matroska There is no physical PC release for SoT, so this is just counting XBO physical sales. Worth noting: It had a 2 day lead over Ni No Kuni2 and A Way Out.
An Xbox game at the top? Have I woken up in 2007?
I jest! Admittedly I have been enjoying watching Blessious on Youtube play this, its been making me laugh. so good for them, it seems fun.
How is sea of thieves over ni no kuni 2 that games is horrible. I played it for 4 hours and got bored and trade it in. But ni no kuni 2 after chapter 2 I got sucked in the gameplay and story. But let see next week I’m hoping for the better for ni no kuni 2.
@Matroska True that NNK2 would not have the mass appeal and is fairly niche, so has likely done fairly well for itself.
Awesome Komaru profile pic btw.
Impressive debut for A Way Out. I wonder how Ni No Kuni 2 compares to its predecessor in terms of raw sales, given it debuted at number one - but in a quiet January. Not surprised by Sea of Thieves as it has been heavily marketed.
A way out is also half the price also plus multiplatform. 😉
Cool to see another lovely anime-style JRPG getting recognition in the UK of all places.
Japan has been on quite the tear since last year.
@carlos82 "Not to mention it is a great game and a lot of fun whilst being a refreshing change from the grindy nature online games tend to suffer with."
I don't mean to brag but from what I have heard, all you do in the game is just finding and delivering treasures, fighting off skeletons, fetching chickens, and wandering out in the sea hoping that you would find something that's actually interesting. Other than that, there's not much else there, and looking at the reception, I'm not surprised. I think Sea of Theives will probably end up as a streamer/youtube game for maybe a month until everyone forgets about it and move on to Fortnite because why not.
I played this with a friend 2 days ago, and all I can say is that I would forgive the game's flaws, from boring fetch quests to rewards being nothing but cosmetics, if it wasn't tagged at a $60 price. Maybe if it was $20, it would have been acceptable. But as it is, it is basically this year's No Man's Sky but with multiplayer, and while it is a bit more enjoyable than NMS, it is only fun when you have friends. If you don't, this one's a pass. Is not a terrible game by any means since I definitely played other games that were more monotnous and dull but I really expected more from Rare. Heck, even Rare themselves admitted that the game was repetitive and boring. Really makes you wonder if Rare and Microsoft even had faith with the project.
What's the deal with GTAV still being in the top 10?
@wiiware ''Huh, an xbox exclusive
at the top, that a rare sight ''@Octane Apply Some cold water for that burn
@carlos82 Ah right, that's a lot more impressive then.
I haven't played the first Ni no Kuni so I'm not sure how familiars were used there, but you still get these little creatures in your party alongside the human members. You have 3 humans and 4 "higgledies" or whatever they're called. They act autonomously but occasionally a circle appears around them and you can run over and trigger a special ability, like some of them build a big cannon to fire at the enemy.
@SoulsBourne128 Yeah, everyone I've seen mentioning it online has called it "No Man's Sea" or something similar. I haven't seen his Jimpression yet if he's even done one, but Jim Sterling said the same exact thing. It's a shame - if it wasn't for the fact it's on PC anyway, it's the only game on Xbox One I thought looked tempting.
@WanderingBullet The only thing I can think of, other than a fairy going around stealing everyone's copies of the game, is that a huge portion of new PS4 buyers also get GTAV with it as the obvious first game to get.
@Octane Ha - and even then, it's not even actually an exclusive. It's on PC and has a kind of crossbuy. I wonder if that's so down the line MS can merge all sales figures into one and say "it's impossible to tell which platform it was bought for" so it seems wildly more successful than it was.
@SoulsBourne128 @Matroska most calling it No Mans Sea haven't played either game I suspect let alone both, they have very little in common in reality.
My first impressions were similar to @SoulsBourne128 though as the basic game is 3 factions who give you missions and that's largely it. However there is random loot to find, messages in bottles which are either treasure maps or riddles to solve and the actual sailing is hugely enjoyable.
The game really clicked for me when my stepson left one of our play sessions and a random pirate appeared on my ship in his place. As someone who is usually pretty quiet on online games this one forced me to communicate as you need to just to navigate the ship and within minutes I was happily chatting with my new American friend and the hours rolled by as we had a lot of fun sailing, exploring and hiding from galleons. I like that everything isn't just a button press and that you have to work together even just to sail around It's just refreshing to play an online game where it's not all about the grind just to keep up with other players and I can just jump in whenever I like and simply enjoy the game.
