Bosses in Dark Souls Remastered are the cream on the challenging cake. Sure, fighting your way through a new area is no cakewalk, but it all builds towards beating the area boss.
Not only do these guys have an enormous health bar that you'll have to whittle down piece by piece, but they also deal insane damage. So much so that it's entirely possible you could get wiped out in a single hit.
They may even be surrounded by enemies from earlier in the level, or attack you as a duo. Just you wait until you face your first double boss – that will make everything you've faced up until that point easy by comparison.
In this guide, we're going to walk you through how to beat the Bell Gargoyles, your first encounter with a dual boss in Dark Souls Remastered.
How to beat the Bell Gargoyles in Dark Souls Remastered
The Bell Gargoyles provide your first taste of a dual boss in Dark Souls Remastered, but are thankfully not as tough as you'd imagine. That's down to the fact that the second doesn't join the fight until you've taken off half of the first's health.
Look out for wide-reaching melee attacks, fire breath, and their tails, which actually double up as a weapon. If you see them fly upwards, pop your shield up immediately or get out of the way. They're about to smash you with their tail and it's very painful.
Dodge the melee attacks and keep away from the fire and tail attacks, and you shouldn't have too much of an issue for the first portion of the fight. For the second, we'd recommend trying to lure one away from the other and chipping away at it until it goes down. We wouldn't recommend going toe-to-toe with both of them at once.
The Bell Gargoyles have a massive weakness to lightning, so if you managed to grab the pine resin from the chest in Undead Burg using the Master Key, you can apply that to your weapon and knock them down in just a few hits. You can also summon Solaire from just outside if you have enough humanity to reverse the Hollowing.
He's pretty effective here, as he can take a solid chunk of damage, and can distract one gargoyle while you take out the other.
Bell Gargoyles rewards
As a reward for beating the Bell Gargoyles, you'll receive the following:
- 1 Twin Humanity
- 10,000 Souls
- Gargoyle Halberd
- Gargoyle Tail Axe (if you chop off one of their tails)
You also have a chance to receive one, or both, of the following:
- Gargoyle Shield
- Gargoyle Helm
