Even the most optimistic among you will probably expect Fallout 76 to launch in a less than desirable state when it arrives on 14th November, so it’s probably not worth panicking over the title’s beta being delayed on the PlayStation 4. This seems like it’s down to some sort of marketing arrangement, as PC players will also have to wait, with Xbox One owners getting first dibs.
The timing of the beta on any platform has yet to be determined, but it can’t be that far off if Bethesda intends to use this as a proper pre-launch test. For those out of the loop, Fallout 76 is an online survival game with a post-apocalyptic spin; you’ll be able to play solo if you prefer, but you’ll always need to be online with other players.

So the beta will be followed by the stress test. That works.
For the players, not the beta-testers, is what sony said
Can you give me the reasoning why you think the game will launch in a bad state?
@hotukdeals because bethesda
@Bioth Eh, timed exclusivity of a beta for a game you're getting anyway is a fair trade off for exclusive DLC that PS4 gets in droves.
In case you missed it, the beta will also be for preorders only
It's odd but fine. This is when its good to own multiple platforms.
Xbox has to stay relevant somehow.
@hotukdeals
Every other Bethesda title.
I don't care who beta tests the game first, I want to see some gameplay by regular people. The whole online only thing makes me want to see some gameplay.
And no doubt Sony will get the 'beta' for CoD:BO4 first and Sony had Destiny Beta first too... Its nothing new for games with online 'beta' tests to give the platform they are 'aligned' with first...
@hotukdeals I'll be shocked if it doesn't. But maybe they'll prove me wrong.
@hotukdeals Even Bethesda acknowledged the fact that they games are always broken at launch during the Fallout 76 E3 reveal.
Fine with me. #NotMyFallout anyways...
Ms really paid for first crack at a beta?
@ZAKtheRIPPER A waste of money I'd say, but I don't think it's an issue.
@ZAKtheRIPPER Probably part of a larger marketing deal.
@hotukdeals
as others have said its bethesda, you have played there games before?
Timed-exclusives are an archaic tool that only looks silly and pointless in this day of age, no matter what the direction is: Xbox -> PS4, PS4 -> PC, PC -> console, and so on. As if Xbox gamers and PC gamers will spend hundreds of euros buying a PS4 simply because a game is a timed-exclusive on that system, … and vice versa of-course. Nobody does that. It's pointless. It doesn't sell more hardware and software. People buying it for the PS4/Xbox/PC are people who already own that particular system.
@hotukdeals People always exaggerate these things, especially media folks and critics. It's rarely as bad and messy as they claim.
@Bonbonetti I still remember the rage of being incapable to complete a major skyrim storyline after questing for 15h because of a bug, only to find online that it was a know issue, unfixed 1y after release
@Bioth I had a similar problem with Skyrim on the PS3, I was unable to complete the final battle because of a bug. So I have never actually finished the game after playing it for 60 hours or so. I don't know if they ever fixed this problem but I moved on to other games and never looked back.
However, the game worked really well until they started updating things. That's when things went bad in my opinion. For example, one of the updates caused you to die if you entered water. Their attempts at fixing smaller issues instead made the whole game worse.
A game-ending bug is still a one-off occurrence for Bethesda, it never happened with their Fallout games and the other Scrolls games. At least not for me.
There are Youtube gamers who actively pursue bugs and glitches, and who attempt to force a game to do something weird or funny in order to attract views to their Youtube channel. These get a 100k views, the media jumps on it, and suddenly a bug or glitch the average player is unlikely to ever come across is suddenly a big dramatic problem.
It's not that I claim Bethesda games are 100% perfect at launch, but most big open-world games have glitches and bugs at launch; Kingdom Come Deliverance, the Witcher 3, GTA 5, and so on. What I object to is how people single-out Bethesda for having these kind of problems at launch. In my personal experience I don't think their games are worse than any other such big open-world games. It's different with linear games, because there are fewer variables involved.
