If you’ve never played any of the Dark Souls games before, then Bandai Namco is preparing a three disc PlayStation 4 trilogy that will get you up to speed. The compilation, due out on 19th October, will include Dark Souls Remastered, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, and Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition. That means that every piece of DLC released thus far is included as well.
We’re still waiting on a press release to confirm how much this will retail for, but if it’s $59.99 then you’re looking at a serious bargain here. We’ll follow up with Bandai Namco and try to get some kind of confirmation – in the meantime, enjoy the epic trailer embedded above.
Update (21st Oct, 23:30PM BST): Bandai Namco has confirmed that this collection will retail for $79.99. It'll ship inside a steelbook case and will be available in "limited numbers".
Update (22nd Oct, 13:45PM BST): Bandai Namco has informed us that the Dark Souls Trilogy will only be releasing in the US and Asia. There'll be no European release.

@Kidfried Waiting for a press release, but have to imagine you'll be able to buy this digitally as well.
So um....RIP the Switch release of Remastered then.
Smooth Bandai Namco. Smooooooth.
People already didn't give a toss, now you guarantee it by doing this same day.
I mean hell, this is almost Titanfall 2 levels of self-sabotage. I'm impressed.
Still this will be incredible value, worth picking up.
Hell, this will probably be what I pick up instead tbh.
Aw... was looking forward to having to download 2 & 3 too...
No thanks. Dark Souls 2 and 3 both suck, and the remaster almost looks more like a Unity store asset pack with how the screwed with the lighting. I'll stick to Bloodborne.
@Knuckles-Fajita the switch version was on its way to being the worst port of the modern platforms anyways... performance and visual fidelity compromises galore... will it even run at 60fps? i'm not usually one to worry about framerates, but that is something of great value when it comes to the souls series. why anyone would bother with the switch version in the first place is beyond me. people put far too much value on portability aspect when in reality, many games are not even suited to handhelds. doom on the go is completely out of place in my opinion...
@Porco 30fps, but it seems to keep the atmosphere that the updated lighting dropped in the other versions. Your call really.
But this effectively guarantees no one cares. There WAS hype, then it got delayed. Then most people just got it elsewhere. Now anyone else waiting is gonna see a better value bundle that same day.
Makes you wonder why they didn't just cancel it tbh.
Wonder if we'll get a collector's version like that awesome Japanese one
I loved Bloodborne and played some Demon Souls but never dove into the Dark Souls games
@Enuo
Nah, each game in the series is fantastic. Dark souls 2 might be the weakest of the series, but that is only in comparison to other Dark Souls titles, it still stacks up well as a great game in its own right.
so much content
I bought DS3 on sale over a year ago & still not played it 😅.
Think I’ll trade that copy in & get this collection. As mentioned in the article, it’s great value.
@Knuckles-Fajita agreed. the delay was the result of the team having difficulties getting it to run properly. a bad sign indeed.
@Porco We don't know that. The game ran fine at PAX East and a week later, delayed. Why? People even ran through Blighttown with no issue.
The only reason they gave was "Due to the nature of causality" which translates to "The universe willed it".
Ugh this kinda hurts. I was waiting on the switch version but this...is a really good deal. I may buy both just to have 1 on the go.
Just a note that I am still waiting on the price. I think that will ultimately determine how good this package is.
@get2sammyb Seeing on Era that it's $79.99
Wow great news for anyone that hasn't played them all already. Personally I feel like 2 and 3 are still fairly recent in the memory so I'm just picking up Remastered on Switch when that finally arrives.
Glad I didn't pick up DS Remastered a few months ago. This is a no-brainer. Yes please!
I only have 3, so getting remastered 1, 2 AND 3 for hopefully a $60 price tag is worth it to me.
@Knuckles-Fajita Switch has still sold 20 million, so it's a victory in your own mind. Additionally, DS 2 and 3 were already on PS4 since 2015 & 2016 respectively. So they tossed all 3 together and re-released them with no extra effort. SHOCKING...
@Enuo for some reason my emoji button has disappeared.
(Insert shocked emoji)
Nice. It’s enough Dark Souls to keep me busy for a lifetime, but depending on the price I am definitely interested.
I just can't get enough, I just can't get enough...
These are good games. I dunno though, 3 back to back is a bit of an ask, especially if you want to enjoy them fully. I think they'll end up straight in people's back logs.
Better off buying and enjoying them individually IMO.
@Deadlyblack i only have 3 complete on ps4 too so i will probably wait for this to go on sale a bit before i pick this up for 1&2.
I originally was going to pick up DS R for my switch, but that got cancelled on pre-order. Now my plan is to trade in DS 3 now while it's still got some value and then pick up this trilogy when it inevitably gets a price drop.
@huyi Yea, once I seen it was $80, I'm probably going to wait for a sale as well.
Price confirmed and added!
Meh $80 and it's in limited numbers? I already own Dark Souls 2 & 3 on PS4, so I'll pass and just wait for Dark Souls Remastered to go on sale.
It's an intense milking competition between Skyrim and Soul series.
@kyleforrester87 completely agree with this, no point burning out on the formula. I'm playing the remaster of 1 at the minute and it might be a while before I play another game in this genre.
@Kidfried Fortunately you don't even have to worry about that: ''There'll be no European release.''
@NintendoFan4Lyf #25
weird that you have to go through all those hoops to (not) name another manufacturer’s console, only to be sure not to be banned (although yours is a perfectly reasonable comment), huh?
@NintendoFan4Lyf I feel you mate, I think you’re a pretty “balanced” poster: I’ve personally never seen you troll or be rude or anything, and you play on all major consoles.
That’s why it rubbed me the wrong way when I saw Sammy mock you on the “Panic Button says ‘we wanna have a crack at HZD on Switch’”. Maybe the both of you were just playing around, but he was pretty harsh and condescending.
Also, I hate it that Sammy and Robert don’t want people to name the competition when they are pretty prone to trolling and belittling users. That’s not professional in the slightest, and that’s pretty much the only thing I loathe about this site.
NL has a whole host of other problems, but I never once saw a writer troll or be disrespectful there. Overly defensive? Yeah, of course (and even then, it’s usually just Damien); but rude? God no.
@Kidfried i was pretty surprised when I saw it cause he/she never seemed like a troll or an annoying poster, just a regular guy/gal that plays on more than one system.
Also, it’s not the first time the admins take offense at simply naming another platform, I remember the “rjejr debacle”.
But then again, I’m not on every comment section so I may have missed his provoking posts.
“detailing of threads”
So adding further details in the comment sections is now prohibited? Just kidding lol 😂
just a heads up, this collection is not coming to europe!
@Octane yeah they gave us the short end of the stick, nice way to treat your overseas fans huh?
@Kidfried lol yeah, it was just a silly joke 😆
On topic and aside from the Switch version shenanigans, isn’t this a bit of a middle finger to those who bought DS R in May for 40€, when 6 months later you could get another 2 games for twice that price?
@Kidfried don’t worry, I got it and it was pretty funny 😆
I already have DS2 on PS4 so this wouldn’t be worth it for me.
@NintendoFan4Lyf @clvr I’ve had tone it back when I’ve taken playful shots at NLife, didn’t have any real malicious intent, but still have to keep overtly friendly enough, so it goes both ways to be fair.
@NintendoFan4Lyf There's an issue naming the competition here? That's news to me. Maybe like you, they know I've been gaming with Sony for over 10 years, and while I love the hardware (I have PS3, 4 and Vita) and Some of Sony's 1st party stuff, Sony as a company are arrogant and make a lot of bad decisions. They got lucky this gen because M$ fudged up so badly in 2013, and Wii U was a non-factor after Christmas 2012. Let's be objective here.
Also, CD-i! Atari Jaguar!
Why the hell is it not coming to Europe ? lol it makes no sense xD
Makes my decision easier though i guess, i will get Remastered on Switch, if i'd have gone for the bundle, i'd have only played one and then taken a long break before starting the second one anyway so i might as well just buy them individually haha
I only got into this style of game after becoming hooked on Bloodborne when it came out on PS+ earlier in the year, my god i couldn't believe how hooked i got on it, amazing game !!
They sure know their market if the don't release in europe
Wow, I’m really disappointed by the price. 😔 Buying them each separate is close to the same total price. Maybe a couple dollars more. And if you go pre-owned, then buying separate is actually a couple dollars cheaper. I would have bit for around $60 tops, but not for $80.
@Porco the only things ever factoring into "suitability" of games on handhelds have been screen size and controls; we are now at the point where both are pretty much long solved. And like I often reiterate in my reality checks for gamers still in their sweet sweet/college/freelance employment years, the emphasis on portability is rooted in the time management flexibility it enables in the hobby, allowing people with lives and busy schedules to PLAY games rather than just collect them or experience them and their stories in externally dictated bites, trying to remember the stuff they were dealing with last weekend/holiday/vacation. There's no logical reason for things like "Doom on the go" to feel out of place nowadays (the rhetoric was once applied to PSP but mostly because its battery life and sleep mode still limited the field of playing habits and game pace - another problem largely addressed by now) whereas the benefits have been nigh proverbial since Game Boy times.
PS4 does allow some compromised but variably valid options thanks to its sister handheld, but when it comes to Dark Souls, what I've heard and seen of the game and its nature spells out that completing such a game or even making substantial progress there might amount to another PS4's price in mobile data spendings. And if the provider and/or the environment decides to fool around with signal quality, Switch's 30 FPS will feel XBO-X tier smooth every time as compared to the ensuing input lag or getting kicked out of the session at all and spending almost a minute to reconnect while the character is getting their posterior handed to them in every way imaginable.
@Jaz007 well, it’s nice to know that it works both ways!
