Years after Sony dubbed the service “bad value”, EA Access will finally arrive on the PlayStation 4 from 24th July. As is the case already on the Xbox One, the premium subscription service will unlock various incentives, including trials, discounts, and admission to a vault of software from the behemoth publisher’s archives.
Titles set to be available when the membership debuts include Battlefield V, FIFA 19, A Way Out, and The Sims 4 – relatively new releases, then. Prices will range from £3.99/$4.99 per month, or £19.99/$29.99 per year. Relatively affordable, after all – and not quite the rip-off that the Japanese giant once described.

Eh, I paid 20 for this year just so I could play as many games as possible. The games aren’t great but I’m not fussed with keeping most of them and it’s cheaper than buying them individually.
Guess PlayStation plus is the "bad value" now eh
@knightWolf Tbh I would still have the Plus games compared to most of EA's games.
They'd have to pay me.
It holds very little interest for me. I suspect the catalogue will be quite limited.
Unless they have a PS3 server farm, it wont have their PS3 games, and other than BF4 (which I own) amd the latest FIFA (which it doesn't have), they've nothing of interest to me this gen.
@AdamNovice
True fair point i guess
Its not that it's a RIP off....its just the idea that it won't end with ea. More and more will join. The same thing is happening with television.
@Cutmastavictory
It will add up quickly.
So could I pay $5 to play Jedi Fallen Order for a month? Because if so, that's amazing. A month long rental for the price of 2 nights of Redbox.
No value at all to me, especially considering I already give enough money to Sony and MS. This is definitely off the table but I'm sure it might be of use to others so I'm glad the service is finally on PS4. It's ridiculous it wasn't there from the start.
I'm no EA fan, but at £1.66 per month (annual subscription) this seems a good deal. I've heard there is some rotation of titles... do you lose access to the games that are removed if you've previously downloaded them?
This will probably make their release schedules even more convoluted..
Yeah ill pass i have enough subscriptions already.
But it was a bad value several years ago, since PS4 does not have backwards compatibility and the number of games available would have been very small. Today the number of games should be sufficient to justify it, even though the service is still more valuable on Xbox. Last generation's hits like Dead Space, Crysis or Mass Effect trilogies are available on Microsoft's machine, will not be available here.
This may also mean that EA games will start appearing in PS Plus.
Fifa 19 WON'T be included! I doubt it'll show up until at least release of fifa 20.
So £20 a year to play some old sports titles or games like Need for Speed and Dragon Age which are usually about £4 in every sale? Old sports games are literally £1 each to buy used because they are so disposable. Shocking value for money at even that price
@carlos82 or absolutely amazing value for money if you're a Sims fan. £20 a year to play a game that must cost £300 to £400 if you were to buy it and all the DLCs. Astounding value for money at that price.
@Eldritch I thought EA Access was just the base games, and the DLC was simply discounted for members?
@Eldritch don't you still have to buy the dlc though?
The more this type of service gets more people the more gaming will become and physical won't exists which I predict is still 10 years away for downloading at a decent rate and for streaming everywhere about 15 years away maybe
@TuckNorris85 @carlos82 In that case I stand corrected. Which I don't mind at all because it felt so totally wrong, and made me feel rather dirty, supporting EA.
Sorry but it's 2019 so I have to ask -
Are these games downloads or is it a streaming service?
@Eldritch haha lesson learned, never back EA. Cool profile pic by the way, I've just started playing that again and can't wait for the new one
@carlos82 lol I should have known better. Same here. I've got big hopes for the upcoming installment. Looks great.
@daveofduncan - Fifa 19 is confirmed by EA to be on the service.
not signing up to all this not how gaming will be for me have too many subs as it is.
the games will get worse as they struggle with demand great games cannot be made with a service like this not enough money & this is the ease them into losing ownership model.
Not interested in anything with the EA name attached to it, especially not a subscription service.
So I have this on my one x and for a year it's great value the only issue with this version is the games will it gave. Titanfall one or other games that were ms exclusive or PS3 games if some how they find away to have PS3 game ps so I can play the mass effect trilogy on my PS4 I would buy it
If only they had some games that interest me in the slightest. The price is not bad but I can't come up with one game that would justify another subscription. Not this generation, EA.
No ps3 games, No party.
@rjejr
Assuming it’s the same as on Xbox it’s downloads
@electrolite77 Thanks. Downloads makes the most sense but it's difficult to taken anything for granted these days. Especially anything that makes sense.
