Update: Above is direct-feed footage of Gran Turismo Sport's tasty rain update from an ongoing tournament taking place in Germany this weekend. Are you impressed?
Gran Turismo Sport is almost unrecognisable from the racer that released a few years back, but developer Polyphony Digital is not done expanded on the ever-evolving exclusive just yet. There has been strong speculation for a while that rain would be added in an upcoming update, and now off-screen footage of the feature has emerged, ahead of an FIA Championship event at the Nürburgring this weekend.
As you'd expect from the franchise, the visuals are bordering on photo realistic, particularly from this broadcast-style camera perspective. We should get direct feed footage and more information imminently, but in the meantime, simply drink in the graphical splendour on display in the video embedded above.

4 new cars at least and a new track coming as well.
@AdamNovice Yeah, we should get a big info drop at the weekend.
Add lightning, rolling thunder, High Speed Ring and I'll be ecstatic.
Such a limited and backward step in the series on release is slowly turning into a great game and a monster. Daily mileage challenge is a great way to boost your garage.
i am getting real close to purchasing this. waiting for the $20 sweet spot! this game has not gone on sale since the permanent $30 price point 6 months back... very weird.
@porco just get it . It's fab
@Porco
It was €16 physical during the Days of play sale where I live.
I really need to dip a toe soon and purchase a PlayStation plus membership so I can race Gtsport online. I had amazing fun racing online with Gt6.
I find the online side of things too flippin hard. Everyone else is miles better than I am ,and that's even after I think I've mastered a track.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Well then, you need to...
Git gud.
You can dooo eeeet
@Turismo4GT 😂😂
@Porco I bought it second hand for 20 euro after about 6 months. Played it for a few months but haven't played seriously for at least a year now. Had some great online races in it though, maybe even some of the best I've ever had.
@Stocksy I think this "slowly turning into a great game" thing like with SFV should be put to a stop.
Cool. Never noticed rain was missing until now.
Looks great. I still haven't replaced my Logitech wheel that I used for the GT games on PS3. I feel like a bad wheel snob but it's just not the same with a pad once you've used a racing wheel and racing seat.
@get2sammyb I might finally pick this up, I put it on YouTube just to watch a little of the tournament and ended up watching for an hour, it looks incredible
Is this worth gettting for single player only? I have no intention of playing online multiplayer, only local.
I got it for 18 quid first black Friday it was out. I haven't been back into it for a while, need to reinstall it again. Online was lots of fun
@LobsterJohnson I bought the game digitally on sale a while back, and would say yes. Ive not really played online but there are a lot of off line races and mini cups you can play. With assists on the handling is almost arcade like also. Does depend on your expectations so maybe look into some gameplay, for me though it was a good purchase, even offline.
@TheArt don’t disagree would have loved more content on release... but better it grow into a brilliant game than stay a limited one. Multiple Sony exclusives grew into great games from limited beginnings
@Ristar24 Thanks for your reply, seems like I need to just give it a go then.
@Kidfunkadelic83 The online player base are mostly using steering wheels.
its been a while since i played it but to me the rain didn't look as good as driveclub's
@themcnoisy so am I 😂😂
@Scoobijohn It likely won't be due to Driveclub running at half the framerate as GT Sport.
I play it once a month when the new update comes along and I am always(still) stunned at how good it looks everytime I come back to it + that Rain looks AMAZING to I just hope now PD can just bring all this to the next GT game because it looks amazing as it is and just keep adding more Cars to the game. WHY START AGAIN EACH GEN!(well now it seems pointless not to include everything that is in GT SPORT now into the next game) the Graphics seem perfect now. But saying that all these updates add a LOT of GB to my poor FULL Hard Drive
That looks quite disappointing.
No relevant spray fog, no spray on the windscreen, just a few measly drops that you wouldn’t even need a wiper for in those conditions. Hoped for some of the realism they usually put in the rest of the graphics.
Wow. If they continue this way in few years it will have the same weather conditions of Project Cars 2!
@LobsterJohnson Ive certainly found it playalbe for offline play, though keep in mind the update to the original is pretty big at this point!
@LobsterJohnson £10 on eBay
@stBoa And...sold! Thanks
Is this better than DriveClub? That game has had rain in it since about 2014 hasn't it? I mean, it's hardly a boast for a racing game to have rain, surely? Shouldn't it have been in there from the start?
What is the offline modes like on this now? Not interested in online. I heard you couldn't save your game or something? Is that still correct? Is it as comprehensive as DriveClub in offline mode? If so, I may take a look.
