Hot on the heels of PS4 system software version 6.70 comes firmware update 6.71. This new patch is available to download right now, weighing in at 464MB. We'll give you three guesses what the patch notes are.
Wow, you guessed it in one! You're good. Update 6.71 "improves system performance." Cool.
It's an optional download, but you may as well get your console bang up to date. With Sony unveiling a preview program for improved party functionality, who knows what else it's cooking up.
Are you ready for your PS4 being the most stable it's ever been? Prepare yourself in the comments below.

Let me guess! Let me guess!
1: Adds backward compatibility with PS 1, 2 and 3
2: Adds Steam, Origin, UPlay and Epic Store support
3: Makes coffee, cleans your house, does all the chores and cooks for you
Did I get it right?
@Rhaoulos I hope PS5 does all this
I'm hoping for more stability.
Wait a minute,just last week there was an update. Why another one so quick?
@hulkie Assuming they do updates like everybody else, the 0.01 is likely to quickly fix one or two issues that the 6.70 firmware may have caused.
@hulkie These updates patch out vulnerabilities that allow people to hack the console and run pirated games on them. So I'd say they found out about a new hack or that the last one didn't block it fully.
@hulkie there were a few people reporting issues with downloaded games locking themselves after last week's update so this is probably to fix whatever was causing that.
@ZeroAbbadon This happened to me, last night, when I downloaded Blood & Truth. Apparently, it's the Sony 6.71, which is causing it (according to Reddit posts).

A quick check on Reddit, provided the solution. You have to deactivate, then activate the PS4 as your primary console. Any locked games then become unlocked, and can then be played.
@hulkie
Improved system performance of the improved system performance I guess. :/
@Rhaoulos They need you working for them.
#1 would be awesome with trophys
#2 Would be awesome because I own FF games and other games that ps4 dont have. Like master of orion which I think could play on ps4
@Hengist oh, well it happened to me and several other people I've seen online when 6.70 dropped so I naturally assumed this update would have a fix for whatever caused it. It actually affected all of my digital items not just Blood & Truth, including themes. I had already fixed it myself last week with the method you provided but thanks all the same.
@ZeroAbbadon Apologies mate, I meant 6.70. That's what I should have typed.
After patch 6.70 my ps4 kept crashing and I had to rebuild the database. To be fair it's now the smoothest and fastest it's been in a long while, so I may wait to see how this one goes and not jump straight in. But i guess the reason it so smooth and fast is because I did rebuild the data base which I've decided I'll probably do monthly going forwards as I didn't know how much it helped, I'd definitely recommend it
Can we sue for all these lies about "system stability and improvements"? Sick of these updates, I'm sick of the memes and I'm sick of bloody french people.
@purplemonkeyspan Who hurt you?
I hope it improves system stability.
6.70 actually crashed my counsel. I had to redownload the update in safe mode. I'm not sure what happened during the initial download maybe this is a patch to fix it.
My PS4 is always stable, without any updates. I just put it on a flat surface. Simple really, when you think about it.
[stability intensifies]
Sony shows reciprocity in it's app store by making YouTube TV available like Vue is in Play Store.
I installed it yesterday, asked my PS4 to make me a coffee. The result wasn't what I expected. She (yes she's a lady) didn't make me one. I was upset at first, but then I understood she ignored my request so I could sleep well, and I did!
I seriously recommend this new firmware update.
@Rhaoulos close
@DreamerAbe86 Sony
