Update (5th September 2019): We've received word from Rising Star Games co-founder Brjánn Sigurgeirsson about the possibility of Deadly Premonition 2 on PS4. He says the game is a "Switch exclusive at launch" and that the publisher is "not discussing other platforms at this stage". That sounds like a timed exclusive deal to us. We imagine the sequel - and presumably the original game too - will release on PS4 later down the line, but for now, they're only coming to Switch.
Original Story: Deadly Premonition, the-so-bad-it’s-good-but-really-it’s-still-rubbish cult hit from last generation, is getting a sequel – on the Nintendo Switch. The follow-up is being published by niche organisation Rising Star Games, which also handled the PlayStation 3 port of the original. Flamboyantly subtitled A Blessing in Disguise, the release is due out next year, and will plot the return of FBI agent Francis York Morgan and newcomer Aaliyah Davis.
There’s actually no word on whether this will make its way to Sony’s system just yet; common sense would suggest that it’ll be multiformat, but Nintendo has been busy resurrecting some of these fan favourites of late, and it may have some kind of exclusivity deal in place. We’ll contact the appropriate parties and see what more we can learn.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the first time PlayStation players have been made to wait for a Deadly Premonition game. The original launched as an Xbox 360 exclusive, and it took three years to be ported to the PS3 in Director’s Cut form. Speaking of which, the original game is also out now on the Switch, but again there’s no word on if it will make an appearance on the PS4. Well, not yet anyway.

More Swery65 weirdness is always welcome in my life.
I'm buying a Switch.
Bring it on. The first one was daft but I love it!
It will come to the PS4 I'm sure of it...
How about a remaster including the move controls? I want to play the first as it sounds really interesting.
Sorry, guys. Looks to be a Switch exclusive.
@RBMango Yeah, saw the trailer...
"Coming to Switch ONLY"...
That bold 'only' says something...
Maybe a future release under a different name...
Like "DP2: The Real One"...
@shuvamg009 I have serious doubts this will be a Switch exclusive forever.
Whether it comes to PS4 or not I won't expect much. The first game is obviously a case of accidental brilliance, and that's not exactly going to be easy to recreate with a sequel.
This was one of the weirder announcements in the Direct. I'm happy, though. The original is a cult hit for a reason, and it's good to see the I.P. being revived for a full sequel.
If this would remain Switch exclusive, it'd break my gaming heart 😢💔
Not a chance in hell this will remain a Switch exclusive.
The problem with a sequel to a so bad its good game is it has to improve but also not improve. It still has to keep the charm of the original without trying too hard to look like it's doing it. I'm not saying it can't be done and SWERY is more likely to pull it off than anyone else
#PortBegging 😂
@Bagshot - Yeah such a shame the Director's Cut was a real mess, that they (Rising Star) refused to patch it was a real kick in the nuts. Not really bothered about the sequel but I'd love the original to get a PS4 release.
awful but good I loved the game on PS3.
From what Brjánn Sigurgeirsson said it most likely seems to be a timed exclusive and due to the deal with Nintendo he's not allowed to talk about other consoles at this time.
A year or so wait stinks but I waited this long for a sequel I can wait longer.
@Bagshot - DH? No way man, good seeing you here!
One of the best games ever!!!!!!!
I need a PS4 version!!!!!!
Seriously underrated
I am quite tempted to try the original.
@YozenFroghurt And people wonder why Sony fans get slammed so hard for being the most hostile bunch.. 🙄
i hope they put some effort in when it come to the ps4 version, and they will heavily upgraded the game and its graphics. because the switch version game look like a ps2 game that just got a straight hd port, its 2019 now and not 2006 so this is not acceptable.
@EVIL-C yeah sure they do take those blinkers of there in every gaming circle.
