PlayStation 5 is set to arrive towards the end of this year, and it's going to be pretty big. Now that we've seen the official logo and heard some information about the console, it's beginning to feel a little bit more real. Add to that the slow announcement of more PS5 games on the horizon, and it's all getting pretty exciting. The latest confirmed PS5 game is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum from Daedalic Entertainment, as revealed in the latest issue of Edge magazine.
CEO of the studio, Carsten Fichtelmann, seems to be feeling the hype of next-gen too. In an interview with the publication, he talks up the upcoming lineup of consoles, saying that the "PS5 will be huge". He goes on to talk about ultra-fast memory, such as PS5's SSD, which will be a boon for developers. "Especially for level designers, though, that’s a dream come true, because we don’t have to concern ourselves with streaming corridors any more," Fichtelmann says. "I think that’s sometimes really painful – to squeeze down these otherwise beautiful, stunning environments because we need another corridor here."
We already knew the PS5 is going to be a big deal, but it's always encouraging to hear positive buzz from someone within the industry. Are you hyped for PS5? Start saving in the comments below.

Will it still fit in my entertainment centre though
Cant wait for PS5. It will be huge upgrade from ps4 but dont forget that it needs to use that hardware for 5 years. Hope we will se how it looks soon. 😄
I am hyped for the PS5 and will be buying it on launch but am not optimistic about seeing the massive difference right away as many third party developers will be making games with the current/soon to be last gen in mind which will potentially not show the system's full capabilities till 2 years down the line.
Expect HZD 2 to look amazing though.
I can't wait for PS5 (and Series X), but I am choosing to wait.
I am going to wait a few months after release to make sure there aren't any major defects that need to be addressed.
@johncalmc beat me to it 😂 my media centre only just fits my PS4
@JoeBlogs Here's hoping for either a Horizon Zero Dawn 2 reveal alongside the PS5 event or a new IP from Ready At Dawn.
allegedly much the early days of PS3 when sony went around asking developers what they'd like from a successor (hence the switch to x86-64 architecture, and 8Gb of fast (for the time) RAM on PS4), they did the same during the PS4 era, and the most requested feature wasn't more teraflops but "SSD/fast storage". a lot of the comments i've seen from developers seem to focus on how much of a gamer changer the ultra-fast storage of PS5 is compared to power, ray-tracing, or anything else.
PS5 will be a masterpiece. Need them weird Japanese games I always play.
@PSXGameplay not chance it will last for 5 years without take downs at the end. Altho, at least this time we have a decent CPU. So hopefully it will last longer than base PS4, which was outdated as hell on the launch
@Bamila In the context of high end PCs, yeah. But it was more powerful than the Xbox One and WAY more powerful than the WiiU (not difficult, tbf) and is considerably more powerful than the Switch which is Nintendo's equivalent to the PS5, let alone the PS4.
They also can't be miracle workers. If you bought a PC in 2014 or so for £350, including a £50 controller, do you really think it could run something like Uncharted 4? Man, you could barely have afforded a decent GPU with that.
@Matroska Where can I fine the original full size pic for your avatar?
Yuffie's so cute! >.< (at least I think that's her)
@KidBoruto Yeah it is, and I agree! I got it here: https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/602223
The logo shown in this article is not the released logo. Look at the 5, it has straight edges whereas the released logo has curved edges
@Matroska Thanks for the share, it has been favorited!
