Update #2: Sony has now confirmed this month's PS Now additions via the PlayStation Blog. They are Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, Wreckfest, Darksiders III, The Surge 2, Stranded Deep, and Broforce. All of them are permanent additions except for Wreckfest, which will be available through until 31st May 2021.
Update #1: Even more PS4 games are starting to pop up as part of the PS Now December 2020 update. It now looks like subscribers can also look forward to Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, The Surge 2, and Stranded Deep. That is in addition to the titles already listed below.
Original story: As has become a tradition by now, the latest line-up for Sony's PlayStation Now service has gone live before the Japanese giant can even get around to confirming those select titles itself. For the month of December 2020, PS Now members will be treated to at least Darksiders III, Wreckfest, and Broforce. This information is sourced from the Japanese PSN service, where subscribers have also been handed Horizon Zero Dawn for the final month of 2020. Given the fact that this particular PlayStation 4 game has already been part of PlayStation Now in the EU and US, we expect it to be replaced with a different game. We will reissue this article once the update is confirmed by the hardware manufacturer.
Unfortunately, we have had to wave goodbye to two time-limited PS4 games as part of the December update to the service. Metro: Exodus and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard are no longer playable through PS Now, but at the time of writing, we don't know if the new additions are also leaving the service after a certain period. Broforce....
Best game ever
I didn't have a PS4 and bought the PS5. I then wanted to buy a PS Plus subscription, and accidentally bought a PS now subscription as I didn't know there were two subscriptions. I thought it was PS Plus. Stupid action, but can happen.
Now I bought (and unwrapped) Horizon Zero Dawn this weekend and here I read it is on PS now? I actually checked before buying and it wasn't in the Store (showing Now symbol) and also checked the PS Now games full list on the Playstation website.
Horizon Zero Dawn is not on PS Now, at least not any more
Edit: this comment has not aged well
@Kyevo8814 Both aren't going to be exclusive from one another. It's going to happen having games that were on both.
@Kyevo8814 Darksiders and Broforce were on Plus but Wreckfest hasn't been. A rare case of a game I'd like to play and don't own appearing on Plus or Now, in fact!
The constant duplication between the two services is poor though, I agree.
@Barryburton97 To clarify, I meant it is no longer part of PS Now but has been in the past.
Wreckfest is great fun ! Play it if you havent
Wreckfest !! I was gonna buy it, good thing I waited.
@LiamCroft HZD complete edition was added today on PS Now in UK. Just checked. They also added Stranded Deep and The Surge 2 as well as the others mentioned. A great month.
@aric201812 Wow this is another great month !
@Cornaboyzzz almost bought Surge 2 in the year end sale this morning as it is super cheap, plus been thinking about picking up the HZD expansion! Paid £35 for a 1 year sub back in June. Value has been excellent in my opinion.
@aric201812 Same ! I was gonna buy Wreckfest and I was keeping an eye on The Surge 2. Paid 42€ for a year in June too, definitely an amazing value !
Infinitely better than plus. I’ve got the next year to finish the ps plus collection and any half decent plus games before moving back to the far superior PS Now.
I’d happily buy both but not when they duplicate games.
HZD again? Was on in January
@Crazybuttocks198 ahh.. didn’t have it back then. This is the complete edition and doesn’t seem to be time limited.
This is awesome, thank you Sony!
Almost bought Wreckfest many times, so very happy with that.
They keep duplicating games between this service and PS Plus, therefore it makes no sense to keep both subscriptions. I will not renew PS Now when it expires.
This service is a joke
@AFCC Why's that?
@Slippship Yes, same thing also on CDkeys haha. I actually couldn't figure out why I could not claim my free games and took me some time to notice I bought 'Now' haha. Then the first game that is coming to Now that I'd like to play and I unsealed it 2 days earlier just to have a look. Damn... haha
@AFCC
i agree with you.
HZD on ps+ in a few months then.
Horizon Zero Dawn? Don’t mind if I do!
I agree that having two different services seems confusing and unnecessary, but I’m subscribed to both and am enjoying having access to much of the PS4 library that passed me by.
They definitely need to find a way to merge the two, not only for the convenience, but to make the pricing more competitive with Game Pass which is still arguably better than Now/Plus combined.
I think the only thing i hold on to plus for is the cloud saves. I shouldnt be paying so much for that.
Great games coming to a great service! Very welcome additions
Ooooh, Wreckfest has been on my wishlist for an age. Will defo try out The Surge 2 as I really enjoyed the first game. A good month for me!
@LiamCroft if you're a long time fan and you have both PSPLUS and PSNOW you just get the same games on repeat with 1 or 2 indies in the middle. It's sad really
@JohnnyShoulder I really recommend the Surge 2. I wanted to like the first one but the environments were way too samey and combat way too slow and punishing for me. The Surge 2 stepped the game up in pretty much every respect as long as you can stomach a bit of cheese with your story.
Hey guys. Can i still play online with just a PS Now subscription and no PS Plus one?
My Ps Plus expires soon and i think the value in PS Now is way better so only reason id renew is for online multiplayer
@Netret0120 Yes. No PS Plus required to play online if you have PS Now.
I’ll play The Surge 2 probably!
@Eadgar That's only true for PSNow games, I think.
Does the save from the original version of HZD work with the complete version? I'd assume so, but then again it's Sony...
@Muttt I believe it does, but you're right to question it.
@SoftMandalorian Yes, right. You are correct, I should of worded my original response better. But thanks for clarifying.
@J2theEzzo When I saw this on the eShop I joked about it a lot in my group chat, it's actually a good game though? Ha, I may have to check it out.
It used to be buggy as hell, but that somehow added to the charm of it! Growing up in the late 80s/90s, a lot of the characters were movie icons to me, combine that with local multiplayer and over the top, random, explosiveness- genuinely, a brilliant and laughter inducing game! Even got my girlfriend playing it with me!
@J2theEzzo I second your admiration for Broforce. Great game. My son loves it too. Plays it with his friends and they are all nine years old!
🇦🇺 So 🇦🇺 when 🇦🇺 will 🇦🇺 Australia 🇦🇺 get 🇦🇺 PS 🇦🇺 Now? 🇦🇺 ... or 🇦🇺 will 🇦🇺 it 🇦🇺 be 🇦🇺 PS 🇦🇺 Never 🇦🇺 for 🇦🇺 us?? 🇦🇺
@Muttt if you're talking two digital versions then I don't know. But the disc Complete Edition version does not work with the digital Complete edition. So, I'd not be confident that the standard disc version saves are compatible with any digital version.
@Wormold Comparing the streamed PS3 games to PS5 @60fps+, 4k is never going to be a fair comparison, streamed or otherwise. Yes they'll look very dated.
(almost?) All PS4 games are downloadable on PS Now so the requirement to stream isn't an issue for the PS4 titles.
@Barryburton97 ah right, I feared as much. Thanks!
