Update: Sony has confirmed the PS Now lineup for October 2021, which includes The Last of Us: Part II as previously rumoured. Naughty Dog’s survival horror epic will be available to play until 3rd January, 2021. You’ll be able to stream or download the game to a PlayStation 5 or PS4, and you’ll even get better performance on Sony’s next-gen console.
The full lineup for the month includes:
- The Last of Us: Part II – Until 3rd January, 2022
- Fallout 76
- Final Fantasy VIII Remastered
- Amnesia Collection
- Desperados III
- Victor Vran: Overkill Edition – Now available in the United States
- Yet Another Zombie Defense HD
It’s unquestionably a strong selection for October 2021’s PS Now update, but are you happy with the offering? Let us know which of these games you’ll be playing in the comments section below, and don’t forget you can refer to a full list of All PS Now Games through the link.
Original Article: Screenshots of PS Now’s update for October 2021 appear to be circulating online, although we’ve currently been able to corroborate them for ourselves. The images show new additions The Last of Us: Part II, Fallout 76, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, and Yet Another Zombie Defence HD. Sony already confirmed that Square Enix’s classic PS1 sequel would be added on 5th October.
Assuming this is accurate, it’s possible there are other games scheduled to be added in October 2021, as only a partial screenshot can be seen. Still, this would be a strong selection even without any extras: The Last of Us: Part II is obviously one of the best games on the platform, and Fallout 76 has shaped up a lot since launch. Its addition is curious, we suppose, given Microsoft now owns Bethesda and titles like Dishonored 2 were recently removed from Sony’s subscription service.
An official announcement will be made next week, so you won’t have to wait too long for confirmation. In the meantime, let us know if you’d be happy with these titles in the comments section below.

Obligatory "Wish PS Now added other regions" comment.
@Voltan Obligatory agreement comment
Not bad?! What a troll 😆 Good work, I found that funny 😆
Issnt Desperados 3 and that Zombie Game also new?
@Voltan Because of the Streaming aspect I kinda doubt it since they would have to build tons more Servers
PS Now’s good fun to be honest. It can be hit and miss with the additions and needs a lot more quality exclusives but it’s nice to jump into a game without downloading first.
I actually just signed up for this service for the first time ever yesterday. It has been good fun so far, no noticeable input lag so far but I have only been playing one game, the Sly Cooper Collection. I hope for the good fun to continue. After Sly I will play FF VIII, my favorite FF from the PS I era.
Wow, this is really good if true. Last couple months have only had a couple if any games I don't have that I want to play (which is a lot more than PS+ has been doing). This month I'd play Last of Us 2, Desperados 3, Zombie Defense.
I'd also play the other two but already own them. This is crazy, every single game this time around I'm interested in.
Really just think Sony should add all ps plus games, that have historically been given, to ps now and then scrap the plus service. Increase the price of PS Now to £75, but also allow people who only want access to online play to get that separately should they wish. I’m not paying for both services and have too many plus games still to play.
When I eventually do get a PS5 I’m just getting it for the exclusives. If PS Now added all it’s exclusives I’d definitely subscribe or pay an annual fee.
And I was starting to think Sony had forgotten PSNow exists like they did with the PSVita. This thing has so much potential to be a rival to GamePass but they just don't give it a second thought half the time.
They could use it to add PlayStation exclusives across PS3,4 and eventually 5 without natively putting them on Steam and thus PC players would have no choice to subscribe in order to play PlayStation games in turn increasing Sony's monthly income. They could even add some PS1 and 2 classics as an answer to backwards compatibility.
I think the numbers would rise so fast given how people want BC and PC players practically beg for PS exclusives.
Such wasted potential.
@GADG3Tx87 Especially when you consider that PS1 games ran on PS3 anyway, and a lot of the units in the server farms are running PS3 firmware. Although it would be, dare I say, ‘simple’* to just emulate PS1 games on PS5.
*Not that emulation is simple in any way, but more that emulation of the PS1 is fantastic these days and can scale up to 4K on even a 4 year old laptop.
There’s some good games being put on Now recently. I can totally understand why Sony don’t put all there exclusives on the service as more people would stop buying them full price and just wait. Even so having them cycle through them does give some good choice and means that if you are on the fence about a particular game then you can try it.
Still puzzles me that PS Now is still not available on mobile or macOS, both would seem like sensible additions and platforms that competing services are on. Makes it still feel like Sony aren't wholeheartedly invested in this.
That said, for all the hoopla that XGP gets, I think there's a better catalogue of games on PS Now these days. Just not as vast.
Love me some 100ms latency I’m no Xbox fan but give me gamepass over this any day. Please Sony do a gamepass equivalent. I prefer to own my games so wouldn’t use it, it I’m worried for the company’s future if you don’t compete. And as others have said, please put psnow on mobile
After I've finished with death stranding DC and both Spiderman games and play the first last of us lol il sign up to the trial to play the last of us 2...don't care for final fantasy
@andykara2003 I truly do see streaming games as the future of gaming. Just like how we stream shows on stuff like Netflix. Internet speeds only continue to improve and while it might suck for people who buy physical, I can see it slowly being phased out...I mean it's already starting with the digital only versions of the new consoles.
@ATaco definitely, it’s happening and will be sub 1 frame one day. And then sub 1ms eventually. They’re definitely doing the right thing with psnow, it can only get better. I’m a physical collector so it’s a bummer, yes. But as long as the games don’t disappear from the streaming lineup I guess I’m ok with it. Just as long as they keep the libraries permanent.
@andykara2003 it'll never be sub 1ms because you have all sorts of problems with the speed of light and/or the speed of electricity, but <10ms should be possible and for human perception is basically the same
@andykara2003 Yo hook me up with that Faster Than Light travel you’re proposing!
@thefourfoldroot that would cost them a ton of money. Ps+ subscriptions went up dramatically only when online multiplayer became a part of it.
it does surprise me that sony exclusive's come and go from the service surly it makes more sense to add them and then keep them on there.
Yep now they just need to add Australia 🇦🇺🤷🏼♂️
(just had to make your day @Voltan lol)
I might not bother buying PS games and just use this from now on.
@Integrity I’m gonna say why I think it’s not bad, I’d love to try fallout 76 but couldn’t justify buying the dumpster fire.
@Robinsad I meant it as in when PSNow adds an award-winning, acclaimed, much-loved by many, game like TLOU2 to its roster, that month gets judged as 'not bad'. What will it take to be a 'good' month?! 😆😆👍
And you're right, nonway I'd buy that joke Fallout either, not the way they launched the game broken. No forgiveness for having no respect for gamers.
@Robinsad played fallout 76 on gamepass after it got patched i actually quite like it didnt play with other peole just played solo and ignored others. Was a cool map to explore its more about exploring than combat quests arnt great though I enjoyed it more than fallout 4
good thing about PSnow is for a game like fallout 76 is it covers getting the game and the PS+ requirement
Now my question is, will I be able to take advantage of the patch that allows it to run at 60fps on PS5? Seeing as Now doesn't yet support PS5 games, yet this isn't a native PS5 game...
Regardless, hopefully it is a permanent addition. I wouldn't mind playing through again, but probably not so soon after finishing it the first time around...
Good to see them adding big, newer games like Last of Us 2. Undoubtedly it will only be for a couple of months probably but still better than nothing. Would be good to see some PS5 games on there soon though.
I'm quite a scaredy cat so never played a whole lot of Last of Us. For wimps like me, is Last of Us 2 more or less scary than the first one? I guess I mean, are those scary clicker things in it more or less than the first one?!
Wow, that would be a pretty huge thing of something as new and first party as TLoU2 came. Maybe Sony experimenting...dipping toes in slightly...with the Game Pass idea, slightly modified? Either that or sales of TLoU2 are just so bad post-launch that they DGAF about it anymore.
PS Now is actually pretty decent, and a great value. But they really need to fix some of the broken tech on it. The low res on PC still (and for most games on console) still sucks, the wait times to get in can suck. And the abysmal controller support on PC is unforgivable (DS4 wired-only without the dongle that seems not to exist anymore, and I can't even use my DS5 with PS Now on PC, but I can use it with Game Pass Cloud.....get your stuff together, Sony! I was all set to buy another DS5, the pretty red one, just to use with Now on PC, until I found that out. Instead I bought remapping software and just use my XB Elite.)
@PapaGlitch On the PS Blog post, they did say if you have a PS5, you will be able to download the perfomance patch for TLOU2 if you download the game to your console
@NEStalgia
Yeah... I have little hope that it will work with the built in SteamDeck controls at this point.
GamePass on a browser with RainWay Beta duct tape works/looks better than this on PC 🤦♂️
@Agramonte If you put Windows on a SteamDeck, you can use ReWASD or the like to remap any other controller to work with it. It's sad. Cheap software bridges let you use any controller over BT, while Sony won't officially support even their own controllers, even wired in the DS5's case.
I'll keep using XB controllers though, because BT really does suck with streaming. Latency+latency=unbearable latency, and Xbox's dongle's are much more available than Sony's. But it's a pain. Especially for Elite, ReWASD requires unbinding everything in the actual controller config to a fully generic profile, which means I kind of have to dedicate the Elite to ReWASD use instead of the real XB Accessories app, which makes it less good when using native/xcloud apps.
@nessisonett agreed 💯 percent! I've been subscribing since January 2020 and the ability to go right into a game zero downloads is awesome. There are certain games I do download like RDR2 and now last of us 2 but the majority of games I play on PS now are streamed
Held out on Last of Us 2, so tres happy! =)
Another month of PS Now carrying after Plus let people down.
Streaming from the service has always been a bit spotty for me, but I've yet to try it since I've moved and upgraded my internet. It has improved over the last couple of years, and it has usually been good enough to try out a game.
Last of us 2 will be PS+ by Xmas then…
@trev666 For Older Games Yeah I Agree But For More Recent Games No As They Still Make Money Off Of Them.
Well I've officially subscribed to PS NOW for the month and can't wait to dive into some of the classic Final Fantasy games!
@tomassi 😆😆 unfortunately Part II is equally scary as the first and even scarier because of that one enemy towards the end. Bloaters are still a force to reckon with especially when you're left alone with one. TLOU is just a disturbing and unsettling series you just have to accept and face with courage.
It would be interesting to see Push Square doing a PS Now poll like the monthly PS+ poll. (including which service is better for the month, PS+ vs PS Now)
Despite how divisive Last of Us 2 and Fallout 76 are, I can't imagine 67% will think it's a crap selection like this month's PS+ games.
@NEStalgia Bought the pretty red DS5 and I've only used it on Gamepass on PC - download not cloud - b/c I can't find a PS5 to buy. Really don't understand why they can't make it work with the PS4 or PS Now. By the time I get a hold of a PS5 it will probably be drifting. 😉
TLOU Part 2
FF8 Remastered
Red Dead 2
Just finished Nier Automata.
What a great streak of games. Long may it continue
@ATaco probably will eventually, but people have been saying this for about a decade, and I don't see it being any time soon.
@TheArt I don't think I can handle it! Makes me too nervous. I like to enjoy playing games, not get stressed out by them! Maybe I'll play the first hour just to say I've played it!
Nice! Already got tlou2 as a sony exclusives fan. But i love to play ff viii remake. i never played that game since my ps1 era. And fallout 76 is also nice to try this way. Just startend om GoW. I misjudged that game Total. I thought it wasn't for me. But I love it!
