Unfortunately for any games releasing in the same week, Nintendo published a duo of new Pokémon games, and both of them occupy numbers one and two on the UK's latest physical games chart. It means that Battlefield 2042, one of the bigger PlayStation launches of the season, debuts in third place. The PS5 version accounts for half of those sales, with another 20 per cent taken up by the PS4 release.
Call of Duty: Vanguard is just below it in fourth after a couple of weeks at the top. While some games have moved down thanks to those aforementioned remakes, others have re-entered the top 10. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales wall runs back up into sixth place, and Far Cry 6 is currently in eighth.
Oh, in case you're interested, Grand Theft Auto V is down at number 27, which is probably the lowest we've seen it go. However, that's likely because people are instead choosing to buy GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition from PS Store. The collection is coming to physical retail as well, so it'll be interesting to see how the two titles compare in December.
Anyway, here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 20th November 2021
- Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond
- Pokémon: Shining Pearl
- Battlefield 2042
- Call of Duty: Vanguard
- FIFA 22
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Far Cry 6
- Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Double Pack
- Just Dance 2022

Amazing how Pokemon always dominates. No matter what
Even the double pack makes the top 10!?!?!? EA, Activision, and Ubisoft dream of selling the same game twice to people at launch.
this chart really shows that people don't want any kind of change in games at all.
@kejsi-sensei *most people
Sad, but true.
It also seems switch owners tend to prefer physical over digital, all the people I know with a switch always buy physical. Maybe easier to trade and swap etc?
Sony not exactly got much new for Christmas, while Xbox timed some big launches for Christmas time and are having a great end to year but with gamepass you probably wont see Forza H 5 or Halo in this list.
I thought those Pokemon games were remakes? If that's the case, wouldn't really call them 'new.' Not surprised to see them dominate the charts, that series almost always does.
Did anyone buy disco elysium physical and get it too upgrade too ps5 version , tried all the obvious things and all it does is install the ps4 version contacted the developers and they have been suspiciously quiet.
How many Pokemon games have been out in the last few years - I lost track. Same game (literally this time, it is a rehash)... yearly release.
Augh! - Western big publishers and their AAA cookie cutter mentality.... Oh wait 😉
@Agramonte Nice to know you consider remakes a rehash 😂
The games are fine, especially for a studio that has only ever been support on games for various companies, largely on PlayStation or Xbox releases.
This week's sale chart feels cursed lol.
I was tempted to buy Miles Morales on PS4, but despite only being £33 I was put off by the short completion time (from what I’ve read) and other cheaper titles I’ve had on my wishlist. Hopefully some day I’ll be able to grab it for £20.
@Haruki_NLI Rehash is almost too polite. The lack of experience from a studio doesn't reduce the price of the product. In any other industry that doesn't fly. If you handed a studio a script for a big franchise and they gave it to a thirdparty full of guys learning the ropes. It turns out half arsed and mediocre at best. But you charge you full price and everyone was expecting a "AAA" product 👍. All of the terrible reviews are null? That's a woeful excuse for GameFreaks and this is just a Xmas little effort as possible, money grab. Some people will love and enjoy the game that doesn't change the fact that little effort and care has been made and all reviews can be pushed off as "we didn't develop this" excuses.
@FX102A dont be put off with the short run time, if anything it makes it better - its no killer no filler. I took my time with as im working on plat and my play time is at 20 hours.
Some rather salty reactions to the Pokedomination this week. As if that wasn't going to happen. They're already apparently some of the strongest Switch releases this year.
I will admit, that the public seems to especially buy a ton of copies of the ones that get internet people angry makes it even funnier. While I never expected it to fail, I'm still amused that the "fallout" of a months-long hate campaign against Sword/Shield was it becoming the third best-selling generation in the property's history.
@FX102A yes the story is shortish, its about 6 hours to finish the story but not if you plan on platinuming it, plus if youre on ps5 and get the gold edition you get spiderman 2018 remastered.
