Black Friday, which lasts basically the whole of November if you ask retailers, has once again had an impact on the UK's physical games charts. While not as successful as last year — GamesIndustry.biz notes a 10 per cent decline in sales compared to the same weekend in 2020 — there are still a handful of games bouncing up the chart thanks to discounts.
While Nintendo has unsurprisingly cleaned up here, some multiplatform games on PlayStation 5 and PS4 reap the benefits too. FIFA 22 is back up in second place, and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy moves from 17th all the way to fifth place. Far Cry 6 has also reportedly had a sales surge of 49 per cent week-on-week, although it's down one position, now in ninth. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Vanguard remains in fourth, Just Dance 2022 shuffles up to number seven, and Battlefield 2042 moves from third to 12th.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 27th November 2021
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- FIFA 22
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Call of Duty: Vanguard
- Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
- Pokémon Brilliant Diamond
- Just Dance 2022
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Far Cry 6
- Mario Party Superstars

Guardians is so good. Picked it up as well due to Black Friday discounts.
A fantastic Singleplayer game!
I picked up Guardians of the Galaxy & Far Cry 6 over BF weekend too...
GOTG is worth full value so if it's on sale def pick it up if you haven't played it yet. It's very very good!
I am very pleased to see GotG doing so well. The same Star Wars scenario is unfolding here... studio aquires big license, creates a online based cash cow (Battlefront == Avengers) that is a huge turd, then puts out a single player campaign that is a huge success (Fallen Order == GotG).
Recently got a switch and was hoping for some sales on Zelda breath of the wild no such luck. Nintendo never do sales on their 1st party games 🙄. Got the switch free with new mobile so not too bad just got animal crossing so far but want Zelda but thought I'd wait for black Friday.
Mario Kart 8
A lot of happy people at Christmas getting a Switch by the look of it
@Yinx hopefully the Penny drops soon
The discounts weren’t that great this year imo.
I wanted to get GOTG (anyone else can’t help but have Game Of The Generation pop up in their heads immediately), but I’m not familiar with the IP & not that into Superheroes & still a bit high for an impulse buy. Heard fantastic things about it though.
Also wanted to get Persona 5 Royal which had decent discount (down to £20), but not enough time from P5 has passed for me.
Instead I picked up Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Doom Eternal (PS4) for just under £50.
@Daleaf I'm not saying anything you haven't read and heard a thousand times before, but you won't find better value for your money than BotW. I've been playing it for years now and logged in well above 500 hours, over five times more than the next most-played game on my list (Skyrim). If you can swing the full price, you won't regret it.
@nofriendo Yea I think I'm just going to have to accept that it won't be on sale lol. Might just download it tonight, going on a train tomorrow to York to watch the snooker so might be a good way to pass the time, well other than starting to drink haha. It does look like a brilliant game and heard so many good things.
I picked up GotG for $25 because I had to see what all the hype was about. I'm not a big Marvel fan at all, but it's great so far!
I picked up Guardians of the Galaxy and its a very good game, fairplay.
@Fight_Teza_Fight that's acronyms for you. Damn things are everywhere whenever I see CDPR I think Chinese Democratic People's Republic which... can't be right...
GoTG is a fantastic game. I bought it on launch day, and I bought it again for PC to play over GeForce Now.
Great for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy - fun game.
Nintendo was basically giving Mario Kart 8 for Free in the console bundle. Nice it also counts as a game sale 🤷♂️
GTA V is gone but not forgotten. Like many things which previously sat in a chart for ages like the Simpsons, Wet wet wet and Hungry Hippos. Always nice to play once in a while until you realise how bad they are now.
@NateGoesLive I picked up the Switch lite (yellow). They were sold out sold out at all the stores and hard to find in the US. Wife asked about GameStop I tried everyone but them and yes they still had them. Grand Daughter will be Happy on Christmas Day.
