The wait for Elden Ring's eagerly anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has been long enough that we've been forced to question our sanity several times in the year since it was revealed, but we haven't quite gone Hollow yet. Following a trail of breadcrumbs that began with some gaudy custom controllers and spurred on by the addition of files discovered in Steam's backend, Bandai Namco updating its various YouTube playlists is the latest seemingly unconnected event to get us incredibly energised.
Elden Ring content creator Ziostorm continues the great work of the Golden Order, pointing out that Bandai Namco's European and American Elden Ring YouTube playlists have both recently been updated, having been lying dormant for almost a year. This, along with the above, suggests that an English-language announcement trailer could be in the chamber, locked and loaded, and adding further weight to a February reveal or even potential release. The 25th marks the game's second birthday, which may or may not be significant to Bandai Namco, but we're seeing connections everywhere.
How badly do you want to see Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion? Do you subscribe to the February shadow-drop theory, or is that getting too conspiratorial? Connect the dots in the comments section below.

I just completed Elden Ring for the third time to get the third ending I was missing and beat Malenia solo so I'm ready for this.
Yeah I can't wait for this. There are not that many YouTube videos about the dlc and what is there only contains speculation about content and not when it's going to drop. It'll be worth it as from's previous expansions have always been heavy on the content and fair in price. I'm only worried it'll drop slap bang in my dragons dogma 2 playthrough 🤣

Revealed at the next state of play 👍
@Nepp67 What do you recommend for the second playthrough: keep all your progress from playthrough 1 (will this be too easy?) or start all over with a new build?
Looking forward to this. Elden Ring is just so good, I keep playing it instead of games I bought recently and uncompleted ones.
@Darude84 Start a new playthrough, not only will a lot be easy from the beginning with ng+ it also detracts from the game encouraging you to explore since it gives you all of the locations you went to. That and the rewards you got from it don't change :/
I think Elden Ring DLC is big enough to shadow drop without much prior fanfare and it will spread life wildfire by word of mouth and taking up all the news / guides.
I spent yesterday upgrading some of my favourite weapons in anticipation.
I'm very excited, but personally I'd love it it didn't land until April.
February/March is crazy for new games.
@Nepp67 Thanks, make sense! The exploration part plus choosing strategically to return to a specific enemy once you’re stronger are what makes Elden Ring such a beautiful experience. I can also imagine being overpowered will ruin your first experience with Shadow of the Erdtree.
Woah, bring it on, I can picture myself cheesing the game already with the fire sword that can be slammed on the floor, it did me well 😂.
Elden ring dlc shadow of the erdtree is going to be amazing just like elden ring.more games is always welcome.word up son
Haven’t played this yet…. Keeps being pushed back in my to-do list. And I don’t think I can finish it before Rebirth next month soooo maybe it’ll be my Spring jam.
Will play the DLC? Yes!
Hyped about it's launch date or up for allocating time to theorize on this? No.
Since nowadays 90% of announced release dates get delayed at least once, I've learned to be numb about it. Hell, even the phrase "game is golden" no longer means that it won't be delayed anymore, either on all platforms or on some of them....
Hype comes naturally when we actually manage to get to a few days before the launch, when the certainty that it won't get delayed again tends towards 100%.
Until such time comes, there are plenty of other titles to play.
I wish the devs good luck, and I hope they take all the time they need to do this DLC right, be that next month or 2025!
Damn right I am ready for this. Held of playing similar games recently so as not to get burnt out.
Two years since release is quite a wait, but I have to give props to the team since at least this doesn’t make it feel like the content was carved from the base game.
I'd be very happy to see this dlc drop next month but I'm also prepared to wait longer.
I'm currently replaying Elden Ring and loving it.
Initially, on release, I wasn't blown away by it all.
I enjoyed it , for sure, but much preferred Bloodborne and Dark souls 3.
That said I love all the soulsborne games even Dark souls 2.
I think whatever medium the art comes in be it written, drawn, music n movies etc we all should give something a second chance further down the line.
Art, set, in all it's forms never changes but we often do.
My second playthrough of Elden Ring still sits very high alongside Fromsofts greats just not the summit.
The DLC will be bought day one though that's a given.
I'll bet it will be huge too.
@Nepp67 LEGEND.
I’ve been playing Dark Souls again to break things up a little but as soon as I beat Ornstein and Smough again I’ll be diving back into Elden Ring to get primed for the DLC.
I couldn’t beat Malenia solo the first go-round so I’ll be trying that on this NG+ run. Can’t wait to be utterly obliterated by water fowl with the increased difficulty.
Gives me incentive to finish the main game, I got to the Fire Giant and then some other games grabbed my attention. Loved what I played though.
Need to play this gem again. The problem is finding the time.
I'm so tired of hearing about it at this point either put it out or quit talking about it
@ChromaticDracula No worries man I couldn't beat the first go either that I let a Let Me Solo Her inspired character help me beat her. Although it felt like an awful win for me lol. I dont know if you are a lightweight character, but lightrolling is super helpful for her waterfowl dance.
@DonkeyFantasy Yeah my son got the plat and said exactly the same thing - I'm at the point where, if I beat Fire Giant, it gets more linear and focussed through to the end.
