Chinese developers love their action RPGs, and so we suppose it’s not real surprise to see ChinaJoy 2024 bring a flurry of them. The latest to be signed by Sony to its China Hero Project is Project: Jinyiwei, a title set during the Ming Dynasty which bears a passing resemblance to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice we suppose.
The game depicts the story of a novice soldier who grows into a fearsome warrior, and you’ll be accompanying his journey from humble origins through to its deadly conclusion. It’s targeting a release on PS5, and will be playable in PlayStation’s enormous Shanghai booth this weekend. Clearly the gameplay lacks polish in the trailer, but there’s promise here for sure.

Man how many souls like are they going to make, they're going to over saturate the market lol.
It looks pretty interesting, in that "game you'd buy on a whim from CeX and enjoy more than you'd expect" kind of way. But yeah, the animations look a little cheap. It's like everyone weighs about 4kg.
I like the look of this too. Choice is good, hopefully some of these hit well.
I see what Sony doing now. Sony using theses AA games to help fill in the gap in between big releases.
Gaming in 2025 will have 3 genres: Souls-like, Lootbox, and GTA.
Gives me some Onimusha vibes
