Auteur creator and mask enthusiast Yoko Taro will do anything for a price. Memorably, a couple of years back, the colourful character and president/director of studio Bukkaro said, "I, Yoko Taro, am a slave to capitalism, so I will do anything as long as I am paid and will do nothing if there's no money in it," which we find quite refreshing, actually.
It should come as no surprise, then, to learn the real reason behind Stellar Blade's upcoming NieR: Automata DLC: Taro wants your money, and the weak devotee to 2B that you are, you'll probably give it to him (thanks, The Gamer). That said, Taro actually reckons Stellar Blade is a better game than Automata, largely because of the "cuteness" of its characters. On X, posting from the official NieR series account, Taro (presumably) proudly proclaimed that "we will gladly say yes to anything for money".
Do you love money as much as Yoko Taro? Are you glad to see the creative's services remain for hire, provided the price is right? Be honest with yourself in the comments section below.

What an oddly transparent take on things, I like it, very refreshing.
It almost felt triggering to not be triggered by the comments they’ve made.
Now I just want to see the characters animated to be drinking pints of Stella in white vests from TK Max.
I wonder if I can pay them to make that happen …
Same Yoko Taro, same.
Taro for President!
Well, at least it’s only the truth comes out from him…
He speaks the truth. Refreshing in an industry dominated by corpo speak.
Hey, who doesn’t like money? I certainly give it to him once the DLC drops.
Not just Yoko Taro loves beautiful & hot women but he also loves money, like me 🤝
Yoko Taro, what a legend 🙇♂️
Gimme a fist bump Taro-sensei, I pay you!🤜🤛💵
Never change yoko taro, never change 😃
And of course I love money, I can't buy ps5 pro with hope and dreams 😂
Well, luckily for him I love throwing money at almost anything and everything with 2B in it.
@Rezium Same. He really struck gold with 2B.
This man needs so many high-fives.
Yoko Taro is a pretty goofy dude lol.
I still love the Nier Automata t-shirt promo where he messed with the Square employee and rolled on the floor repeating Nier Automata T-shirt before saying S&#t Square Enix lmao.
Yoko Taro is awesome. I hope there will be an Automata sequel or another NieR game soon.
That’s a lie Yoko, or we’d already be busy traumatising ourselves with Nier 3 by now - which would generate far more money than a collab.
But I do like the man has a sense of humour, and doesn’t pretend something is what it isn’t….unless it’s in his games where he’s setting you up for a twist that would make Shyamalan piss himself.
Respect to Yoko Taco.
A$$ and cash right
If Yoko Taro wants my money for this colab then...he's right. I'm now considering buying Stellar Blade real soon because of this
So that explains why one of the best games of all time is doing a crossover with its poor man's carbon copy
Who cares? As long as it’s happening I’m happy and willing to feed his hunger for wealth.
(Let’s be honest, aren’t we all?)
@Yousef- Yoko Taco? I didn't know Yoko Taro opened up a Taco restaurant 😆
@PuppetMaster
Yoko Taco employee, “Would you like to upgrade your soft drink to the mega-sized Emil head novelty cup?”
Me, “Obviously, yes!”
The man be spitting facts
We all are, involuntarily, enslaved through caputalist means, which makes me despise it with all my heart. Join a union and get organised.
Few people can put a smile on my face like Yoko Taro.
I’m convinced he’s got something big up his sleeve for us soon… until then, I’ll enjoy his photos of ramen and curry on Twitter!
@clvr This makes me think you didn't play Stellar Blade. There are certainly many, many points of inspiration, but SB is its own game. They play completely different from one another.
@LowDefAl Drakengard sounds like a good plan to me. 😁👍
@clvr two games have similar settings but couldn’t be more different tbh! Give it a try!
So do I.
But I'm willing to part a portion of mine because you and your characters worth every cent.
If he genuinely believes that Stellar Blade is a better game than Automata then I don't think we can trust him with another Nier game tbh. Although he could just be on the windup as per.
@LowDefAl You should ask SE because that's their IP. But i don't think they gonna touch the series anymore, not without changing / removing some part of story / characters lore which i'm sure will attract some controversy if they didn't change it.
@VicerExciser LOL, I haven't seen that video!
Fair that he actually doesn't just bs everyone, but from his statement, it sounds like he would do 0 for charity, regardless of how much he had. So, also sounds like a bit of dic (I'm talking about the entertainment company, of course).
@clvr Odd how the creators of each game love the others’ game, then.
It’s almost like…you didn’t bother playing one of them.
@dskatter @IntrepidWombat of course I didn't, everything about it looked mid from the get go and reviewers I trust, plus watching part of the story, only confirmed that.
The characters are dreadful, the themes ape Nier Automata without understanding them, and so on.
As I said in the review, if it weren't a heavily publicised PS exclusive, nobody would score it as high as they did.
@clvr The themes have similarities, but no, it's not a copy/paste affair. If you go in with the assumption that it is, then yeah, bias is going to get in the way and you're going to make that assumption. It tells its own story with its own theme. If you haven't played it though, you really don't have a leg to stand on. At least play the demo - then maybe you can speak to it? The characters are fine, but it's not winning awards for its story. The combat is where this game really shines. I am extraordinarily picky - this is one of two new games that I finished this year. It plays nothing like either of the Nier games.
@clvr Odd, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Guess you’ll never know what you’re missing, and I feel sorry for you. This isn’t a Nier Automata wannabe, it is its own thing.
I mean, freaking Yoko Taro loved it. That tells you all you need to know, critics be damned.
