Someone needs to physically prevent Bethesda Softworks from announcing video games in the future, as the long, long-awaited Elder Scrolls VI was apparently little more than an idea when it was formally revealed back in 2018. The 7th anniversary of that short clip with undeniably stirring music is fast approaching, making it officially older than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was at the time, famously launching on 11th November 2011.
If that broke your brain for a moment, you aren't alone. Redditor RoboPup has been counting down the days and says that it has been 2,403, to be exact, since The Elder Scrolls VI was unveiled in typical Todd Howard fashion. That's six years, seven months, and three days, to be precise (thanks, IGN).
What year do you predict we will see The Elder Scrolls VI finally release? What prompts video game developers and publishers to do this to fans so many years in advance? Continue to wait in the comments section below patiently.

After Starfield they can keep TES6, doubly so if it comes out on the Creation Engine.
They should release it in 2123 on the 4th of May (5) at 6 PM sharp.
Elder scrolls 6 will come out in 2028 calling it now.
People forget the context of WHY they announced ES6 when they did. They had, in the same Bethesda E3 presentation, just announced Fallout 76 (a multi-player game) and Elder Scrolls Blades (a mobile game…. Do you not have phones?). They announced ES6 to give the ravenous Bethesda single player RPG gamers something… anything and stop them metaphorically rioting. They also did the same with Starfield here, just a short logo teaser… and it worked.
As predicted already, I believe a 2028 release and then 2029 before it's actually playable with all the patches 🤣
After Fallout 76 and Starfield I couldn't care less what Bethesda makes.
This is going to become one of those jokes about how long it’s been like Battletoads, Half-Life 3, or GTA6 isn’t it?
yeah, I have zero faith in the company anymore, they have been left behind by their peers
I was so excited by the potential of Starfield that I bought the super-expensive digital edition. I put in a fair amount of play time but it now lingers on my hard drive, unfinished, gathering virtual dust. So Bethesda can take as long as it likes; I don’t really care.
I’m more unsettled by the fact that it is nearly 7 years 😳 Those clocks sure are hungry.
It’ll not matter it’ll still be bug filled mess that looks like a ps3 game
Can't wait to play it on PS7

That's not counting down, that's just counting?
I'll play it on my fridge in 2040 thank you.
Has 2028 written all over it.
@themightyant Its a pity Starfield was so mediocre and stuck in the past .
Omg we had gta 6 before es6
I remember when people thought Xboxs future was bright for potentially having this as an upcoming exclusive when we might see the next generation consoles before we ever even see gameplay of this
I personally have nothing against far in advance announcements for games (so long as it's just an announcement and not gameplay or something).
Same with CD Project Red with the Witcher 4, 1 remake, cyberpunk sequel etc. so long as they're not showing the game itself I think it's a good thing a lot of the time, gets everyone on the same page.
@themightyant spot on 👍
@DonkeyFantasy Watch Dogs says hi
Honestly, its difficult to be excited about anything Bethesda proper puts out. They have consistently been outdone and outpaced by their peers. They act like its still 2011 and show no signs of changing or adapting. Baldur's Gate 3 and The Witcher 3 put Fallout 4 and Starfield to shame. The engine they insist on using has gone long past showing it's age and is more akin to a shambling, rotting corpse while their games struggle to perform the most basic functions. Couple this with stilted animations, robotic npc behavior, corpse-like facial animations, and boring by the numbers quest design which creates games that feel, look, sound, and play the same. To make matters worse, Bethesda's subsidiaries routinely surpass them. ID Software, Arkane, and Machine Games without a doubt produce superior games. If I was Bethesda, I'd be embarrassed.
It seems that games came out faster twenty years ago. I mean, they just got it done and moved on. Not sure what the problem is now. Same with music. New albums would come out almost every year back in the day. Now, it's one every five years. Lol.
How many people have it preordered on Amazon though? 😂
I wonder if it will release before Beyond Good and Evil 2?😝
It's just going to be the same old Bethesda game ..like fallout, starfield, elders scroll.... Loved fallout 3 and new Vegas ...some of the best games I played on the 360....and starfield was great for a while ...but I am just to burnt out on the same old formula of the games ..on top of the fact the medieval setting is my least favourite
@Romans12 Surely with all the new tech at their disposal one would think they should come out sooner, but alas, productivity is no substitute for creativity.
Last good game Bethesda made was Morrowind. I expect nothing.
at this point im way more excited about a remake of oblivion then the new elder scrolls game.
I used to love Bethesda games. Oblivion is probably my best game ever. Skyrim was the last ok games they did. Fallout 3 was good, but 4, the story was trash.
Starfield was one of the biggest disappointments ever. Their game engine is way out of date and cant keep up with all the others. As for Bethesda bosses (Hines is it), they keep lying and defending the undefendable. Fallout 76 another example. .
I would love the Elder Scrolls 6 to be great, but i have no confidence in it at all.
I have such high hope for ES 6 but so low expectations after Starfield it makes me feel dumb for even hoping.
They have another few ports of Skyrim to release before they get around to 6
I don't want to see a new elder scrolls game because i know they'll mess it up, the only thing with elder scrolls in the title i want to see is expansions for eso.
@Romans12 they came out faster and were better/more complete, now the games are live service Frankensteined together
If you all stop playing Skyrim, this would have been out by now. Isnt that how it works?
The funny thing is that people seem to simply don't care anymore.
And it may still release on PlayStation despite all that.
