Ahead of its release on PS4 next week, Lunar Remastered Collection has dropped a story trailer that's positively dripping in PS1-era nostalgia. If you enjoyed either of these classic RPGs back in the day, it's bound to put a smile on your face.
Both of the original Lunar titles, The Silver Star and Eternal Blue, are renowned for the quality of their storytelling, backed by casts of deeply endearing characters. Though obviously not as popular as something like Final Fantasy 7, Lunar was still responsible for introducing many a young mind to the wonderful world of Japanese role-playing games in the 1990s.

Just in case you don't know, this Remastered Collection packages the two titles together, gives them a resolution boost, adds some quality of life stuff like the ability to speed up battles, and boasts a completely redone English dub.
That last point may end up being a kicker for some — especially if you've got fond memories of the original voicework — but publisher GungHo has stressed that it's picked the right people for the job.

I've never played Lunar (or Suikoden, or Grandia) so all of the classics coming back is great for me. And it'll be interesting to see how they are - I have 0 nostalgia for them and don't even know the basics plots, but I also have 0 issues with classic JRPG mechanics.
Normally I'd say it's rare to experience a classic for the first time, but it's even rarer to have SIX games to check out. The only question is, which series do I start with?
Both Lunar games are so good. Had these on PS1 and cant wait to get them again soon.
Edit: Both Suikodens are excellent as well with the 2nd one edging out the first in most ways.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy Suikoden, its not even close.
With Grandia and Phantasy Star, one of my favourite old series! I will get it and play through it as soon as I have some time off.
P.s. the character designer, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, is the one you might remember for Evangelion and Secret of Blue Water.
The cutscenes in these games were so awesome. Like watching an old-school anime.
Really looking forward to this collection.
Looking forward to this. Never played them.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy Same. I'm playing Grandia and Suikoden 1 and having a great time. The simplicity is honestly refreshing.
Definitely looking forward to Japanese voice acting for both games. Did they re-balance all the stats that Working Designs messed with on Silver Star Story Complete? Got mad and almost sold it when I was getting murdered in the very first dungeon!
Never played either but getting this day one. Very excited.
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy Both good, but id take lunar over suikoden any day.
Had the lunar games day 1 on sega cd, suikoden games were day 1 on psx. Cant really count how many times ive cleared them, just that i keep going back.
As for lunar, I think i preferred the old vas, but will give these a chance. Also prefer the scd versions over the psx ones.
PS1 Nostalgia for me -
Resident Evil
Dino Crisis
Ridge Racer
Wipeout
Destruction Derby
Tekken
Pandemonium
Crash Bandicoot
Loaded
Einhander
R Type Delta
SF Alpha 3
F1 97
Silent Bomber
The real gem is Lunar 2.
Lunar 1 always felt overhyped to me. It's very generic and shorter.
Shame about changing the voice actors but these are both amazing games that I played back in the day so definitely picking it up!
Would of liked a steelbook or special Edition considering I stupidly sold the Working Designs Special package of both.
Loved these games back in the day. But Expedition 33 is my RPG for April.
Voices sound alright. Victor Ireland needs to get off his high horse already and release the localization rights. I love that guy for his work at Working Designs but he sounds like a prickly SOB.
These are very important games to me personally and I'm so excited to replay them again.
@UnlimitedSevens Agreed. I don't understand what his deal is.
