Republished on Tuesday 24th March 2020: We're bringing this review back from the archives following the leak of April's PlayStation Plus lineup. The original text follows.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will not redefine the gaming landscape like its predecessors, but Drake's latest adventure is undoubtedly his greatest yet. With this PlayStation 4 exclusive voyage, Naughty Dog has once again raised the bar for what's possible in the cinematic action game space. And while, in its fourth instalment, Nate's globe-trotting trip will struggle to surprise those who've grown weary of the Californian studio's set-piece laden stories, it's still a significant cut above practically every other narrative driven experience on the market.
That's not immediately obvious, however. A Thief's End takes a little while to get started, with the opening exchanges extended in order to lay the groundwork for Sam – the protagonist's long-lost brother, who's never been mentioned in previous editions. The developer stops short of retconning the story, but by squeezing the secret sibling into the existing property's plot, you do have to suspend your disbelief; it does a very good job of ensuring that the main character's silence makes sense, but as with anything, intense scrutiny will leave you questioning a few things.
Mute your ponderous personality, though, and you'll come to the conclusion that the older Drake is an excellent addition. We learn more about Nate's upbringing in this 15 or so hour campaign than all of the three previous titles combined, and the complexity of his relationships with Sam, Sully, and, crucially, Elena form the backbone for a fiction that's both grounded and relatable. This, juxtaposed against a backdrop of pirates and untold riches, results in a real page turner-type pulp plot, where you'll be desperate to uncover the next twist.
Uncharted's always injected fiction into fact, but its spin on Henry Avery's long-lost Libertalia is the series' best historical backdrop yet. The title is practically brimming with sub-plots, many of which are discreetly inserted into the adventure through the use of Ish-esque collectibles. Again, the developer's not inventing new ground, but it's simply doing what it does best; the same is true of a flashback sequence which has all of the playfulness and exploratory interactivity of the Hallowe'en shop section from The Last of Us: Left Behind.
But while the pacing slows to a crawl in places, it's an expertly assembled game – said lulls typically follow moments of intense action. Rather than upping the ante following the theatrics of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, the studio's instead opted for set-pieces that are a little more personal. That doesn't mean that they're any less spectacular – you've probably all seen the bike chase scene by now – but they serve a greater purpose; the narrative hasn't simply been written around technical feats that the firm wants to achieve.
And for that reason, this is the most consistent and cohesive Uncharted since Among Thieves – an impressive achievement considering just how much ground it covers. As is the case with past entries, you'll be spanning the globe, and while we won't outline any of the locations by name for fear of spoiling things, rest assured that the variety of environments is impressive. These levels are also much bigger than they've ever been before: you can traipse off the beaten path with regularity, and the introduction of vehicles gives you much more freedom to explore.
It's not an open world game by any stretch, but hidden journals and optional conversations are littered around these wider locales, giving you incentive to comb every last inch of the meticulously detailed play spaces. This all means that exploration is emphasised ahead of action, and while that may prove divisive among those looking for combat above character development, it does mean that the shootouts feel distinctly more meaningful when they eventually arrive. In fact, unlike in older games where you'll be dreading wave after wave of antagonists, you'll be looking forward to the gunfights here.
That's mostly because they're lightyears ahead of previous games. The sound design has been completely overhauled, so that firearms crack rather than parp, while action bowls have been given The Last of Us treatment, enabling you to approach with a mixture of tactics in mind. Tall grass, for example, allows you to approach in stealth, while the newly added grappling hook enables you to traverse play spaces with speed. Limited ammunition and destructible cover encourages you to keep moving, and the excellent controls ensure that every encounter is as satisfying as the last.
The only real downside is the inclusion of the ultimate Naughty Dog cliché: armoured enemies. While there are far fewer bullet sponges present over the course of the campaign than in previous entries, the studio's unable to resist the temptation of throwing in a few, and it's still frustrating liberally tossing grenades at the feet of a mailed merc only to watch him walk away unscathed. These eye-rolls, alongside constantly collapsing contraptions and platform pushing puzzles, do endorse the developer's decision to leave the franchise on a high – it can't re-use some of these mechanics again.
That said, the aforementioned grappling hook and the ever-presence of companion characters genuinely do revamp the environment traversal – the scripting achievements are nothing short of sublime. Factor the vehicles into the mix and you end up with some really enjoyable navigation; it's never challenging, but the title's constantly finding new ways to make you question how to reach the next ledge. The conundrums, too – which have been hit or miss in previous Uncharted games – are much better here; they're taxing enough to provide a sense of achievement, but also entertaining to solve.
And we probably should spare a paragraph for the presentation, which is quite simply jaw-dropping from start to finish. The larger environments are no less densely detailed, and the vistas are among the best that we've ever seen on a console. But it's the art direction that outdoes itself: every environment feels as distinct and important as the last, and even when you're spending the final few hours in the same general area, the studio uses subtle lighting tweaks and weather to change the colour grading and create different moods.
The multiplayer's the icing on the top of this intricately baked cake, and while we'll be breaking out our online impressions in a later post, we will say that we like what we've played. The absence of co-op will be a major source of disappointment for many, but Naughty Dog's already confirmed that it's coming later in the year. You'll have to make do with the competitive suite for now, then, which is thin in terms of modes, but well assembled.
Running at 60 frames-per-second, the core shooting feels even slicker than the single player campaign, and the addition of the grappling hook alongside chargeable melee attacks bring something a little different to the suite. It's the in-game unlocks that are the real unique selling point here, though; cash can be accrued for completing objectives in-game, and then invested into computer-controlled companions who will support you or Mysticals.
These MacGuffin special moves can turn the tide of battle when used appropriately, but are obviously expensive to unlock and need to be in the right hands. It's a dense set of systems, with bot-based Trials designed to help you get your head around them all. The modes are no less complex either: Team Deathmatch is self-explanatory, but there's a ranked alternative which sees you moving through leagues; the Capture the Flag-inspired Plunder will need no introduction, while Command – a twist on Chain Link which puts a bounty on the head of the MVP – may take a little more time to understand.
All of this is buoyed by a rich roster of unlockables – from weapon mods through to cosmetic items – to keep things feeling fresh. The downside for some will be the implementation of microtransactions: chests can be purchased using an in-game currency called Relics, but you'll only ever unlock random items with these – if you want something specific, you'll need to buy Uncharted Points from the PlayStation Store. The advantage, of course, is that all future updates and map packs will be available for free, which is always a good thing.
Conclusion
A fitting end for one of PlayStation's most famous franchises, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End sits alongside The Last of Us at the apex of cinematic action experiences. Naughty Dog's ability to tell engaging tales is unmatched, with Nate's final chapter expertly balancing bombast against genuinely relatable themes. It won't redefine the genre quite like Uncharted 2, but the developer's boundless ambition means that this is a bigger, better, and more beautiful adventure than ever before.

Hello! A couple of notes: the review is completely spoiler-free, so unless you're on a 100 per cent media blackout, feel free to read.
Also, I'll be happy to answer any all questions that I possibly can, so just reply to this post and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks!
@Comrade44 There's more coming up, too. Check all of that out and then get some rest!
@Swiket The fourth entry in this series was always going to struggle to live up to Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us, simply because Naughty Dog's structure and systems are less surprising now.
The fact that it's scoring so ridiculously well despite that shows just how strong this entry is. It seems most people concur that this is the best Uncharted game to date. If you've liked the previous instalments, then this is a must play.
Glad I have my special edition preordered
10/10 Wow!
Pity the bullet sponge armoured enemies are still in the game, but heck this sounds awesome.
@get2sammyb Awesome I just brought uncharted 3 so cant wait to get that and play that
@wiiware Yes! You're in for treat. My advice would be to avoid any and all spoilers as best as you can. There are certain moments in this game had me grinning like a cat with a saucer of milk, and people will start talking about them publicly any second now. The moments are much better when you don't expect them, so try to avoid anything like that.
@themcnoisy Yeah, I've never understood Naughty Dog's obsession with armoured enemies - they even came up with a dumb fictional excuse to include them in The Last of Us. Not fun, but they're in way lower quantities here, which is progress. Plus, the shooting is sensational fun.
@get2sammyb one of my worries about the inclusion of vehicles in large areas is the searching for all the collectibles in that area. Are you able to actually drive the vehicle properly or is it stop/start because of the worry you'll miss something? Really excited about this game though. It seems all our expectations for this game have been lived up to by naughty dog. Take a bow son, take a bow (only UK folk will get that reference)
I picked up the Nathan Drake Collection a while ago and am only about halfway through the first game. I really need to get through the first three games because I'm very much interested in playing this one.
@get2sammyb That's all good to hear! I can't wait. Also thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure to avoid any Uncharted article, thread or video from now on until next week. I won't be able to play it day one unfortunately, but I'll be sure to to give it a go the weekend after.
Great review Sammy... I have to wait till 27 of May because i have one of my last exams of the year ( from then on holiday and after that writing my thesis )
@get2sammyb How is the frame rate?
@SKC_Diamond Enjoy!
@blakey78 You have full control of the vehicle and you can get in and out at any time. There are more collectibles in this game than previous entries so you definitely will miss some. However, because the levels are bigger, I really enjoyed finding some of them. While there are still plenty of treasures just scattered around the world, some require you to complete mini-puzzles to collect, which is fun.
@thatguyEZ The jump from the first game to this one is insane. It'd be interesting playing them all back-to-back for the first time.
@Octane Stay spoil free out there!
@Sanquine Good luck with your exams - something to look forward to at the end of them, right?
@SKC_Diamond Largely excellent. I noticed a few dips during intense explosions, but it's generally very smooth.
@get2sammyb
Welp, no comment section for me until I finished uncharted 4 then..
@get2sammyb You don't know how much i'm looking forward to it. I ordered the https://www.bol.com/nl/p/uncharted-4-a-thief-s-end-libertalia-collector-s-edition-ps4/9200000048708309/ Wanted to go out with a bang.... Last uncharted. I don't know but i sort of sad that this is the last uncharted...
@get2sammyb My wife and I have been waiting for this one! Always loved the cinematic feel out of these titles...basically any Naughty Dog game. Do the character's mouths and eyes move just like a real persons, or do they stare off without blinking for minutes? Just wondering on how much this game is like a movie...always wondered what it would be like if Spielberg or James Cameron turned the series into an actual Hollywood film!
@JLPick The character animations are pretty damn convincing as far as I'm concerned. I didn't get any uncanny valley from the game - it's very impressive.
Hype mode: engage. Between this and Doom I am one happy bunny.
Really looking forward to playing this. I appreciate the no spoilers, can't wait
No coop. That's a 9/10 then because although the campaign will be awesome, you cannot give a perfect 10 when the best part of Uncharted is missing.
Instead of playing it for 3 hours every night for 3 years. It looks like I'll play the 40 hour campaign twice and different difficulties and then never play it again. Big difference in longevity and value for money.
I have an awful lot of PSN friends that are going to be gutted at this news. A lots of us actually met via Uncharted coop and there's nothing else to replace it in any of the other games.
I suspected this would happen with the dynamic duo at the helm after The Last Of Us did not having coop either. Getting coop a year later sounds like a bit of an after thought. A promise that may never be kept.
That was a really well written review & thanks for keeping it spoiler free.
I'm so excited & I just can't hide it My body is so ready.
I've got a framed uncharted 4 poster coming tomorrow & then the limited edition ps4 on the 10th with a black & gold DS4 to go with the theme.
Have all my money Sony. Praise be to the Naughty Gods.
@justerthought They will put in co op http://www.shacknews.com/article/94465/uncharted-4-will-not-support-couch-co-op-at-launch
Great review, thanks for keeping away spoilers
So the setpieces are a little smaller in scale compared to 2 and 3? The train, the collapsing building, sinking boat and falling airplane are all things that to me define Uncharted...would be bummed if there wasn't at least an awe inspiring setpiece in this one!
@justerthought The lack of co-op is disappointing - especially as the combat is so fun - but as @Sanquine says, it's coming down the line. While it's a shame it's not there at launch, it's not a big enough omission to drop a point for me.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Thanks for reading, glad you liked it.
@AFCC There are certainly awe-inspiring set-pieces, it's just they didn't turn it up to eleven. I think that's to the game's benefit - if they would have gone bigger than Uncharted 3, we would have had Drake climbing up a space shuttle while it blasts off into space or something. Nobody wants that, so making things more personal is an important choice they made here.
It's no less spectacular, don't worry.
@get2sammyb Ok ok, Thanks Of course I didn't want Drake in space (maybe dlc xD) but I need them explosions in my Uncharted xD Cool to know it's still the Uncharted we know!
@Sanquine
Thanks for the update. We have some hope for coop then.
@Sanquine
I read your link and it's does not say coop is coming. It claims they might patch in 'couch coop' which is split screen LAN. Uncharted has always got the terminology a bit confused. If you clicked the coop button in Uncharted, you were taken to the split screen LAN. You always had to select multiplayer and then go to a subsection to reach the proper coop which always confused people.
So I'm still not totally convinced, but I hope you're right.
Great review and I am thoroughly impressed that I still know next to nothing about the story or set pieces (other than those already shown in the trailers)/ Bravo.
I have lots of questions but I fear they may spill over into spoiler territory if you answer. For instance, is Elena single now? If so, do you think she will have lowered her standards drastically? Is my therapist right that making emotional connections to fictional characters is not normal behaviour?
I could go on.
Another question...after reading other reviews and trying to avoid spoilers...Naughty Dog said this has the best opening of a Naughty Dog game ever, but I read elsewhere that this is the weakest Uncharted opening...
Without giving too much away, where do you stand Sammy?
I'm excited for this, but every review makes mention of UC2 being better than 3. I very much preferred 3. I can't help but wonder how aligned I will be with critics.
@justerthought There is co-op coming, though, @Sanquine's absolutely right:
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2016/05/all_uncharted_4_multiplayer_maps_modes_and_items_will_be_free
@Rudy_Manchego I won't answer because it will spoil it for you and others. Let's just say Elena has a big part to play in this game.
@AFCC It's a good opening without question. I don't think it's the best, though.
@chiptoon Uncharted 3 was an amazing game and I loved it at the time. When I replayed it recently, though, I realised it wasn't as cohesive as Uncharted 2. Also, the hit response is a bit odd. I think that's what most critics are referring to.
Awesome review, really want to get this but after all the problems I have with the Uncharted Collection I'm a bit weary
Can't wait to pick this up next week. I can't get it on Tuesday, I gotta wait until Friday.(payday) 😔. Nice Review.
@PlaytendoGuy Maybe take a short break from the franchise if you've blasted through the collection and revisit this later in the year. You'll be able to get it cheaper then!
@shonenjump86 Steer clear of those spoilers.
@SanderEvers Play it and find out.
Great read. Now that the game is almost here the hype has gone up again. I'm going to pick this up at a midnight launch, may be the last one I ever go to (I'm 32, too old to be doing that stuff) but it's been over four years of waiting. I need this as soon as possible.
I'm really glad this is getting great scores. I've come to the understanding though that Naughty Dog and I are on different levels when it comes to defining good gameplay; the first three Uncharted games (to me) felt like pretty corridor shooters with above-average cutscenes in between skirmishes. This reads like it's about the same, but with somewhat wider corridors. I hope everyone who loves that kind of thing finds their fix here ^-^ I'll give it a rent and then go back to waiting for info on the next Tomb Raider
@Gamer83 Hope you enjoy it, man. I really loved it.
@TeslaChippie I used to dislike the shooting in Uncharted, too. Well, not dislike - I just didn't care for it as much as the other elements. But this one has some fantastic combat. The wider spaces and Nate's new abilities give you much more freedom and scope to tackle combat scenarios how you want to. And the AI is very good at forcing you to use that freedom - you have to keep moving. It's not stop and pop anymore.
@get2sammyb Oh yeah. I'm really looking forward to watching almost a decade's worth of evolution over the course of a few weeks.
I will probably give this a shot at some point. I'm absolutely not big on narrative-driven games, and The Last of Us isn't exactly one of my favorite gaming experiences of the past few years, but I've never played an Uncharted game, and I feel like changing that.
If it got less than 10 would have stopped reading reviews. All hail the mighty Naughty Dog.
Amazing review Sammy! Can't wait to get my hands on this. It's exactly what I was hoping from one of my favorite series'!
Uncharted 2 was my favourite in the series see if this will knock it off top spot.
10/10. Didn't expect any less from Push Square.
I appreciate the no spoiler rule. I still don't have a PS4, and I'd really love it if this game wasn't ruined for me before I even got a chance to play it.
@DerMeister
I'd suggest avoiding youtube at all costs if you want to avoid spoilers.
@get2sammyb
Pretty sure I'll have a good time, it's Uncharted. I've loved of all them, even Golden Abyss.
Excellent review cheers for making it spoiler free too! I know I said a while back in a previous post all the hype the game was receiving was actually making me less excited for it but now I have read a decent review for the game I'm back to being really hyped myself again.Especially what with it receiving a perfect score
The question is do I buy the standard edition or the special??
Didn't read as a 10/10 but then that's why I don't agree with scores! Sounds like a good, fun game of its type but I'm not sure I'm willing to pay 40£ and will patiently wait for price to drop.
@Gamer83 Don't need to tell me twice. I'm pretty good at avoiding things for the most part!
@Wazeddie22
I've been going back and forth about what edition to get myself. I already have the standard edition locked in but that steelbook case for the collector's edition along with a 40-page artbook (I love the art from these games) is pretty enticing.
@ricklongo The one thing I'd caution is that, while this is an excellent standalone experience, you'll get more out of it if you've played the other entries.
@dryrain Happy to deliver, though I went into this game with my sceptic hat on, purely because I didn't think it could possibly live up to the hype. That it does is... Staggering.
@gbanas92 Can't wait to hear what you think!
@xiofen Haha, I didn't know whether to change that or not. Obviously referring to Ish from The Last of Us.
@dryrain Personally, I think it does!
@DerMeister No spoilers here, but beware the rest of the web.
@Wazeddie22 Haha, just keep your expectations in check and I think you'll love it to bits. I was thoroughly impressed with it.
@stevejcrow It's not a perfect game; no game is. This is better than 99% of the other games on the market, though.
It has been very well received by most critics, so congratulations Naughty Dog! One more must-buy must-play for me (after I beat the Nathan Drake Collection).
Also, I don't understand reviews that lower the score because of the hype or because the reviewer liked 2 more than 4. Every game should be reviewed fairly.
@get2sammyb Please don't think I was criticising the review, well written as always (creep), more the concept of 10/10 games. I end up comparing A with B when that's not how it works, my addled mind!
@get2sammyb Also, how was the soundtrack? I tend to pay lots of attention to that, and I have heard Nate's Theme 4.0, and I wasn't too crazy about it. This series has always had really good music, so I'm hoping it can deliver.
I knew Naughty Dog wouldn't let us down, I have launch day off work and I will not be disturbed whilst playing this. It looks absolutely incredible, hopefully now they can get on with The Last of Us 2 and maybe Jak and Daxter to give Ratchet some competition
@SanderEvers Thanks for all the spoilers.
@stevejcrow Haha, not at all - didn't think you were criticising anyway.
@VanillaLake Uncharted 2 is more important; Uncharted 4 is better. That's my opinion anyway.
@gbanas92 It's okay. To be honest, it's one of those you don't really notice, which I guess is a good thing? There are a couple of nice moments where they fade out the sound effects so that the music can take over, and I think they're well done.
@SanderEvers Well, you won't know whether or not anyone dies unless you play it, right?
@get2sammyb Drake breaks his back. Turns into Joe swanson and becomes a cop. Then everything someone wants to talk to him: i was an adventurer like you but then i got an arrow to the knee.
@get2sammyb Yeah, I haven't played 4 but it looks like it's the best, and that's logical because of all the experience the developers got after making the three first games, plus the better hardware. Naughty Dog are really impressive.
@get2sammyb Boo! That sounds kinda good and bad. Uncharted 2's soundtrack for instance is incredible and stands out even on it own, but while 1 and 3 had good scores, they feel far less memorable. So even if it's on par with that, I guess I'm okay with it!
@gbanas92 I think you might be disappointed to be honest. The sound design itself is good, though. The guns no longer sound like spud guns, for starters.
This may seem like a fool's question but you can't play the game non lethally can't you? I have played the Vita game when it was free on plus and all this ... slaughtering felt somewhat out of place.
@belmont You can't, but you can certainly play more stealthily.
@get2sammyb OK Thanks!
@ricklongo
Me too. I did play Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but it was "just another game" to me, nothing too special.
I actually did really enjoy The Last of Us, but, not as much as everyone else seems to. In fact, I think I liked Infamous Second Son more. THAT was the best 1st party PS4 game I've played.
So we'll see. Everyone touted TLoU as the best game on the PS3, and while it was fantastic, it's not one I rave about as one of the best games I've ever played. So I'm kinda hoping this is more than just "equal to TLoU" as the review states. I think it will be. I like the Indiana Jones type games.
I mean, I adore Rise of the Tomb Raider and surely this must be at least as good as that.
@JaxonH
Just because somebody likes Uncharted doesn't necessarily mean they'll like the new Tomb Raider games, or vice versa. They're similar but different. I don't know, can't really explain it but the games aren't exactly clones like some suggest. Hopefully you enjoy Uncharted 4 though. I'm sure I'll love it but I'm also a huge fan of the series. I'm more interested what people like yourself, who aren't super fans, will think.
@get2sammyb lol im using this review for a school assessment
@get2sammyb spoiler free but you still managed to really get the info accross about a game I knew would be amaze.
Kudos, great review!
@SKC_Diamond Cool! Email me if you need anything else.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya Thanks for reading!
@JaxonH It's definitely got a different vibe to The Last of Us so maybe you'll like this one more.
@Gamer83 "I'm more interested what people like yourself, who aren't super fans, will think" - the missus has this pre-ordered while I have just been bored by almost every single second of the series. Always willing to try something though (canny judge til you try and all that) so if the game manages to keep my interest then I think that will be an indication that it's done alright.
Amazon are sending my copy out tomorrow. Hopefully it gets here a day or two early.
On a related note, I knew it would happen this year but I'm totally overloaded with games. Dark Souls 3 put me in the mood to go back to Dark Souls 1, that then put me in the mood to dust off Bloodborne and finally take on Gascoigne. Star Ocean 5 comes out pretty soon, Overwatch is at the end of the month, and of course Uncharted 4 is emerging any second now. I also just bought The Banner Saga 2 on Steam. Oh, and No Man's Sky should be out next month. Help!
@get2sammyb Darn! I had high hopes for the music! Definitely good that the sound design took a step forward though. Because boy was the weapon sound design not great before haha.
I knew this Would be the best Uncharted to-date, Naughty Dog had a hard act to follow with there Uncharted 2 but have done it once again. The art work is incredible in Uncharted 4 making the graphics look outstanding on the PlayStation 4, Naughty Dog are masters of there craft there is no doubt about that.
@Gamer83 Exactly! I love the look of that art book but to be honest it's the steel book that won me over (yep,I decided and have put in my pre order:).
Would of been happy if you could just buy the steelbook on its own at a normal price but hey ho..
Sitting on my hard-drive, ready to play once the pre -order time limit is up. Can't wait!
Hi everyone, this is my first time on here!
I've got some questions.
1) How long is the game?
2) Do you have to play the collection to enjoy this game? Since I've never played the others? I only switched to ps this gen.
Thanks,
@SPGFan34 Hey there, thanks for posting.
1) My first playthrough was almost 16 hours, so it's a meaty game with plenty of replay value. If you really take your time, I could see the campaign lasting closer to 20 hours at first attempt actually.
2) Hmm. You don't have to have played the others, but you won't have an emotional connection to Drake, Sully, and Elena. There are also lots of little Easter eggs and calls back to the past games. You can play this as a standalone experience, but you'll get much more out of it if you play the collection first.
Great spoiler free review, and before launch to boot. I am excited to play!
@get2sammyb okay thank you.
1) That sounds pretty good, i usually take my time with games and so it would probably take 20 hours for me, which is fairly long for single player content, i know there is also a multiplayer component so this could take me longer as well if i wanted to give it a go.
2) Ok, i will probably buy the nathan drake collection first. I am on my summer break from college next month and so i could treat myself, that way i could understand the characters and the storyline and get to grips with the game mechanics first, and see what the collection does for me. I heard the new tomb raider reboot is quite similar to the Uncharted games and i really enjoyed the definitive edition so this should also be a better game from all the good stuff i've heard about it.
Thanks a lot!
Amazing review
@SPGFan34 Definitely, if you liked Tomb Raider, you'll enjoy these.
@Kieran_9322 Thanks!
Just started this game and I love it! It amazes me that according to trophies, someone has already beaten it on crushing lol.
I like Uncharted but I think is greatly overrated
Only at chapter 7, one word, Masterpiece.
@darkswabber yes that's a spoiler and I'm guessing it'll get a post when more people have had the chance to play the game first, luckily I've already passed that part but others reading this may not have done.
Uncharted 2 the best Uncharted game? Wait until you play Uncharted 4 its dam right amazing.
@carlos82 then I'm deleting my post right away. Sorry for posting a spoiler.
@get2sammyb The music isn't, say The Witcher caliber, but the sound design is tops, in my book. The guns and explosions about knock me out of my chair with my 5.1 headset on. Great review Sammy, thanks!
@starhops Agreed! Thanks for reading!
@SPGFan34 I also switched to PS this generation, you should get Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection (the original trilogy remastered). For less than £30 you get not one but three of the best games of last generation:
http://www.gamecrawler.co.uk/compare/uncharted-the-nathan-drake-collection/B00KJFDSJQ
EDIT: I also loved Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, waiting for PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider.
@VanillaLake Yes, will buy it once my exams have finished. I’m also waiting for a PS4 version of Rise Of The Tomb Raider (Sequel to tomb raider), i imagine a port will be released once the timed exclusivity to Xbox One ends. They normally last around one-two years or so.
EDIT: It will be worth the wait though because they will probably release it with a lower price point, so you could probably even just download, like a digital copy of it, for about 25 quid.
@SPGFan34 Yeah, and perhaps it includes DLC by default.
@VanillaLake Yeah, a couple of dlc packs would be most welcome.
I'm also hoping to eventually get Darksiders 2 and Saint's Row for PS4 at some point.
@SPGFan34 That leaked Bioshock collection is on my radar, too. I've never played Bioshock before.
@VanillaLake Nah, me neither. I'm hoping to get Watch Dogs 2 and Mirror's Edge Catalyst for Christmas this year though. (As i don't have enough cash for both the new Mirror's Edge and all the Uncharted games right now)
As much as I am sure UC4 is a great game, Im sure its no 10/10, maybe a 9/10.
But then again reviews this guy does should be taken with a grain of salt. He rarely knows what he is talking about and usually refers to other sites for his reviews.
@get2sammyb I finally brought the collection today, i noticed it was £24.00 on Amazon and so i decided toorder it. I'm hoping i will really like them.
It is now sitting on my shelf, waiting for the summer holidays next month.
My favourite game. Ever.
I just started playing this yesterday, loved the first 3 games, but the first two or three hours of Uncharted 4 have been painful, too many breaks for long storyline movies stopping the action, and one or two of those being very mundane. I hope the game does get better as all the hype suggests. It's no GTA V so far.
Such a great game. It's dropped in price a lot, everyone should play it https://www.gamecomparison.co.uk/ps4/uncharted-4-a-thiefs-end
