First, why the switch to Playstation Portable? Director Toshihiro Nagoshi reckons the move is to encourage younger audiences, and to deliver a message to be more assertive. Nagoshi says the gameplay and combat will have a more "in-your-face" feel to make it appeal to the cited younger audience. There'll probably be four-player co-op too if recent trends in Japan are anything to go by post-Monster Hunter.
There's no Kazuma Kiryu in this game. An 18-year-old "delinquent" named Tatsuya Ukyou will take his place. You can check him out in the picture above. He has mad hair.
