But the definitive racing simulator is finally upon us, packing a feature-set that's out of this world.
Perhaps the most impressive feature is the game's ridiculously beefed-up roster. When it launches, Gran Turismo 5 will have over 1,000 cars on offer. Of that sum, 200 of the cars will be premium models, recreated with stunning detail. While some have been quick to criticise that the full roster will not look quite so pleasing — it's worth noting that the 800 or so "Standard" models look as good, if not better, than the other top-tier racing titles on the market just now.
Other new additions to the game include a damage model, sixteen player online multiplayer (with a complete online racing hub), dynamic lighting changes, and stereoscopic 3D implementation.
All that and the game's poised to be the best-looking PlayStation 3 title ever. People say Polyphony's been sitting on their collective arse for the past five years...
