It's real folks, these crumby photos prove it. The shots reveal forward and rear-facing cameras, as well as a track-pad on the reverse of the unit. According to VG247 this is not the final form factor of the PSP2 — in fact, the sliding PSPgo case has since been replaced for a PSP-1000 style case. VG247 reports that the design update is in response to overheating reports which were rumoured by Kotaku a while back.
This looks like the real thing to us folks. Obviously it's worth noting that this is an early development kit that probably won't carry over to the final device. We can take heart from the device having dual analogue sticks though — if developers are making games to this specification, rest assured they'll be in the final version.
Hit up VG247 for more on this story. That's if the site doesn't collapse under the strain of traffic over the next few hours.
