Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi doesn’t just love cars – he worships them. Addressing media as part of a virtual presentation earlier this week, the industry veteran appeared to express sadness that younger generations may not share the same level of passion that he has for the automotive industry. His solution is Gran Turismo 7, the latest numbered entry in Polyphony Digital’s long-running driving simulation series – and the game he hopes will spark interest in an entirely new era of automobile aficionados.
For Yamauchi, this is more than just a racing game: it’s a “car life simulator”. And if you were worried that the series may have lost some of its quirkiness over time, then rest assured this is a return to form: Gran Turismo has endured 25-years at the top of its genre because there’s nothing else quite like it, and you can feel Kaz’s fingerprints all over this title. It’s being pitched as the “best of Gran Turismo through the ages”, and it’s shaping up to be a compellingly comprehensive package.
Fans of the classic CaRPG campaign format that the franchise pioneered will immediately feel relieved: Polyphony Digital has designed its own digital island which serves as the hub for the single player experience. Here you’ll be able to visit different dealerships, purchase cars, tune them, and compete against the AI, which Yamauchi promises has been improved from previous entries. There’ll be license tests to complete, and new mission-based challenges like drag racing.
Pulling all of this together is one of Gran Turismo 7’s stranger additions: the GT Café. This is presented in-game as an immaculately rendered coffee shop, and it’s here that you’ll pick up menus filled with collection quests to complete. These look a little bit like mini-Pokédexes in French bistro form to us, and according to Yamauchi, upon completing the various menus you’ll be treated to insight and interviews from the designers and creators of some of the world’s most famous cars. It’s all consistent with Kaz’s goal of inspiring a new generation to learn about the history of the automotive industry.
Music also plays a key role in the game, with Polyphony Digital once again leaning heavily into the lounge tunes that define the series. There’ll be 75 artists and over 300 tracks in the game, and you’ll be able to pair replays to certain songs, with the camera transitioning dynamically to the beat of the music. Meanwhile, an entirely new mode named Music Rally will introduce checkpoint-based drives, where the emphasis is less on racing but more on enjoying your car and the soundtrack. It looks and sounds bizarre – as opposed to time, you’ll be driving against beats-per-second – but in the best possible way.
Of course, all of this is window-dressing to the core racing, and Yamauchi is promising the best simulation that Polyphony Digital has ever created. The attention to detail is bordering on psychopathic, with a tuning screen that perhaps better resembles a spreadsheet than a video game. Performance Points will no longer be a mathematically attributed total, but entirely simulation-based, meaning that the game is always calculating the max performance of your vehicle as you tune it, in order to give it an accurate overall grade.
This meticulous eye extends to the tracks themselves, where the developer has mapped real planetary and astrological data in order to achieve an accurate simulation of the night sky. And get this: it’s used meteorological information to ensure that clouds form in the same way as they would in the real-world, so the skybox will look different in Japan than it does in Germany because of the fluctuations in temperature, humidity, and altitude. Tracks that feature dynamic rain will factor into the simulation, meaning puddles will form and certain patches of tarmac will be slower to dry than others.
All of this will, of course, affect driving conditions and force you to adapt. However, it’s worth noting that not all tracks will feature rain – although they will all be able to transition from sunny to cloudy – and not all tracks will have a full day/night cycle. Fans may also be disappointed to learn that the game will require an online connection, in order to protect save data and prevent cheating according to Yamauchi. It’s not clear which modes will be available when offline, but we imagine it’ll be fairly stripped-back, as was the case with GT Sport.
Speaking of which, the series’ flagship competitive multiplayer mode will return, accompanied by live lobbies which allow you to chat and communicate with friends. There’ll also be local split-screen for up to two players. Yamauchi didn’t linger on the online multiplayer for too long – the focus for the developer very much appears to be the single player this time – but seeing as GT Sport set the standard for simulation racers, we’re expecting it to at the very least match what it managed previously.
In terms of PS5 specific features, Yamauchi spoke a lot about the 3D audio, and how it’s using Sony’s fancy Tempest Audio engine to accurately render the position of sounds. It’s also using haptic feedback to extend the sensory experience, with what it calls sub-audio vibrations. Effectively, the controller will capture and render frequencies below what the ears can hear, allowing you to feel those in your hands. It all combines for the most authentic Gran Turismo experience yet, although our questions about PSVR2 were conspicuously excluded from a Q&A session with Kaz.
Nevertheless, we came away from the showcase seriously impressed. There’s so much more we could talk about – Scapes are returning and the Livery editor from GT Sport has been improved – but we think the lingering takeaway here is just how unique this all looks and sounds. Gran Turismo has always had a je ne sais quoi unmatched by any other racer on the market, but you can tell that this version is the most personal to Yamauchi yet. Even if you’re not particularly interested in cars, the veteran’s enthusiasm is infectious, and it’s bursting out of every frame here.
Are you excited by what you’ve seen of Gran Turismo 7 so far? Will you be picking up the legendary sim racer on release day, or waiting a little longer for it? Start your engines in the comments section below.

I anticipate I will lose a lot of hours to this game.
The reason why I bought a PSone in 97! Cant wait!
I'm actually pretty impressed. Might be the first GT I will buy since GT5 on PS3.
I think that set the bar for State Of Play going forward. Content is strictly associated with the game the presentation is meant for. No ads, no other game trailers. This should be it, and I’m so much more hyped for GT7 now. Cannot wait.
Looks fantastic, weather and time really makes a difference to me. Can’t wait.
It looks great. That’s the quality we love so much on ps exclusives.
I’m not huge into racing games but wow, even I want to try this. The game looks incredible. Just imagining how great it will feel playing with the Dualsense.
Everything but the actual racing (menus, UI, music) all looks so clinical and devoid of…fun.
I actually never played a Gran Turismo game. Blasphemous, I know. Might have to look into the series.
@Enriesto Agreed, best State of Play theyve done by a large margin.
Def. going to invest in a new wheel for this, everything about it was top notch!
Feeder better be on the tracklist.
This will be one day buy regardless.
I don't play car games these days so I have no idea if this looks good or not compared to what else is out there. But I thought it looked good. Real good.
@Enriesto Superb presentation, for sure! Showed you everything you want to know about the game in great clarity and detail, with no bullsh*t.
Enjoyed it a lot!
Looks amazing even when it appears to have streamed using 2 tin cans and a length of string! Will watch it again when the put out the full quality video, but I can see me losing a lot of my life to this..
I have that feeling im about to get lost in this game lol.
Omg, didnt think I could get more hyped yet here we are! GT7 was the sole reason to get a PS5 early 4 me and damn this looks good!
Lets go March!! Cant wait.
Damn that SOP was about as impressive as can be. I'm not even into cars that much but I'm totally sold.
The game's presentation, bonkers level of customization, music, weather physics...sorry I doubted you Polyphony
PSVR 2 no mention.
The game looks amazing though so great.
Looks amazing and can see why this series is touted as the best "racing" game, I may have to get this now and who knows I might find a hidden love for cars I never knew I had lol
@dre8472 Disagree, it's so classy it's crazy. I love the whole GT Cafe thing, with its slow panning shots over coffee cups and lounge music.
It's weird and wonderful!
Am I the only one who was underwhelmed. Don’t get me wrong I love the GT series and have sunk hundreds of hours in GT Sport but to me this doesn’t look any different than say GT6.
I thought the rain effects whilst in car looked average. They should have borrowed the script from driveclub that was first class.
Biggest disappointment was no mention or hint of psvr2 compatibility.
Think I’ll wait until it’s in the sales. Sorry.
I never would have thought watching a track dry would make me so excited.
Wow that just looked amazing. Yamauchi-san has clearly poured himself into this game. It's like he wants this to be the last word on racing games. It's a racing game, RPG, motoring encyclopedia, meteorological and photography simulator all rolled into one!
I'm also an amateur stargazer/astrophotographer so I'm completely made up by the accuracy of the night skies in the game...I'm totally going to be pausing and checking them out...a lot!
Never played a Gran Turismo game. This will definitely be my first!
Did gt6 needed a constant online connection to save the game? Will this one will be the same?
I feel like they could have gone more into the type of events you’d have, how you could tweak your car for each, what the licenses opened up, etc. Also, whether these new track snd cars would be paid or free dlc.
Still, it’s gran turismo! We know it’ll feel great, which is most important
Ok this is serious car porn. This is losing months of your life, missing dinners, not getting up for a piss unless so desperate you've already leaked because letting out a risky fart opened the old chap's iris enough for water to escape, level of serious car porn nirvana. It may look utterly dry to some people but for anyone who has or wants a wheel set-up on a console, GT7 is Margot Robbie knowing your name.
The last few State of Plays had been very hit and miss, with even some like September's having some great announcements but a lot of baffling choices. And for 30 minutes about GT7 I thought what could they really do with that much time but Kazunori Yamauchi proved me wrong as he had plenty to fill those 30 minutes up with, showing us just how much he loves cars and how much effort he is putting into making this the best possible experience. I don't normally play too many racing games but everything that trailer had to show got me really excited for it and I'm very much considering getting this on release. The customization, details in the racing tracks, the incredible music and the DualSense support have me hyped for this.
And people were moaning a couple of days ago about there being a 30 min state of play for this game.
Looks so STERILE and no shots of rear camera! For me I simply can’t tell any real difference as just feels like GT Sport 1.5
@MatthewJP people moaning? No way, that never happens. I simply refuse to believe people moan for the sake of it. Whatever next, wrestling is fake?!
I hope their will be some small bits of extra content that is not GT and if not i wish the fans a great watch.
@dre8472 finally someone speaking the truth! Just looks and feels sterile
@munstre he he same. I don't drive and I'm not a car enthusiast but used to be hooked on GT2 and especially 3, tried 4 then fell off. But this brought back all those childhood memories and looks beyond what I expected. Something about the quirkiness and razor sharp presentation mixed together has drawn me in again.
This was, for me, the best State of Play presented so far. Seriously. And I'm not a big car guy, definitely not simulations. And I haven't played a GT since the 2nd. Maybe the 3rd. But I think I'm gonna preorder this one digitally, which I don't ever do unless a deep sale, but I want this on my hard drive to dip in and out of.
I haven't bought a racing game in about 15 years. Having watched that, this will be the next one I purchase, and on release date. Blown away by how amazing it looks.
Bonus points for including history on the industry itself, that will be very interesting to read up!
Looks good and I love racing games but not really hardcore sims like this. I’m more of the Forza Horizon and arcade racing type. And that’s not an Xbox preference (I don’t like the Forza Motorsport series either).
But might pick this up down the road on sale.
Acquisition this, acquisition that. THIS is the sh#t that matters! GAMES. Forbidden West & GT7 back to back, are you kidding me?! PS: that little PS5 is a BEAST.
I will be picking this up for sure. looks fantastic.
Looking forward to seeing it in 4K@60. I don't think the choppy 1080p video here really did it justice.
I was thinking before I watched the 'State of Play' that they can't really do much more in GT games...BOY(Racer) WAS I WRONG!!! That Weather and Night time Stars bit just made my mind explode from inside + dying to see what the Dualsense is like with this game to Man, KAZ IS THE GOD OF CARS
Does it have an actual campaign and progression where you have to build and unlock or is it more like the nonsense they've made of late?
What a passionately made carpg & those details are sick ... As excited as when I bought a PSX with GT in 1997. He tried it with bikes (Tourist Trophy) but it never became a thing. I would like to know how many people & for how long they worked on this game because this is more than incredible. Even non-race gaming fans will triy this out, and I totally get it!
Can’t wait! It looks amazing. I have it preordered.
Does anyone else worry about a potential writing on the wall with the online connection and used car garage that updates periodically that may indicate an inundation of microtransactions or even NFT's
Have they stated there will be micro transactions? Or pay real world currency for cars, etc?
Looks fantastic! Can't wait. Your turn Turn10.
I'm not a sim racing fan so polite pass.
I did, however, buy Grip on PSN today for $7. Fun game remade from the PS1 era.
Seriously impressed, it was already on pre-order and my only gripe is how close it launches to FW. We seemingly go from a drought to a flood. First world problems eh!
I’m a bit suspect on the ray tracing implementation…but the only real disappointment about this was there was nothing on VR support. I really hoped that if they couldn’t announce psvr2 support yet they’d still show it was supporting original
Psvr again
@riceNpea for lack of a better vocabulary I'll just quote ya and say I wholeheartedly agree.
This game looks amazing. While looking at this game, I started wondering what other racing sim developers would think looking at it. I imagine other developers would have an even deeper appreciation for the game than even us gamers could.
I am looking forward to see how(if?) the recently announced PlayStation Tournaments will be used together with Gran Turismo 7. The game have a huge potential to be a key asset for Sony in the eSports world. And it is clear that Sony really wants to expand its presence in it. So yeah.. exciting stuff! Start your engines!
This is the reason I bought a PS5! I’ve been with this series since day one. It’s the game I’ll play for a whole generation. Let’s go March!
I'm really not a fan of driving games ,but good god this looks superb ,massive amount of content for the car nuts, for the average guy like myself and ill probably get hung by the car aficionados, but I wish they would have included some movie cars,I know I'm just being picky here but it would have made it a day one buy,but for everyone else it looks fantastic and I hope you enjoy, me,ill probably wait for a sale.
@KundaliniRising333
From the details it looks like it’s bringing back the traditional campaign mode that was last featured in GT6.
GT Sport pretty much nailed the community and multiplayer aspects of simulation auto racing. So I’m thinking they heavily focused on the single player aspect while multiplayer will be very similar to Sport.
I think I've played about 100hrs+ of GT Sport and still playing it a lot. Like fighting games, I never really bought racing games due to them getting stale after sometime. But I'm currently hooked and this GT7 looks just as good though will probably wait for a sale.
I really wish I could enjoy driving games, because GT7 looks amazing, but I'm just not a car guy sigh
I’m a huge car nerd. So games like Gran Turismo are porn to me.
Still my favorite simulation racer I ever owned was Forza Motorsport 3. I sunk an insane hours into every class and game mode on that game.
The pride of my collection on that game was a monster Dodge Ram SRT-10 I built strictly for the drag events. At the time I was trying to find one to buy in real life (ended up backing out of a deal and going with a LS1 Trans Am instead for half the price) so I guess I was building a dream truck haha.
I’m probably the odd one out but while I love GT, I wish there was more just driving. Like that little town thing. Would have been great to be able to have the option drive to each area in the town, like in nba 2k21/22. Would have been really cool
I would also love to see b spec make a return
Wow, this looks really good. I love car history and will definitely pick this one up day one. GT7 comes out same day as Triangle Strategy… March is gonna be fun.
I truly do not understand myself when it comes to GT. I’ve never liked it even though I like racing games. I was hoping I’d change and would get excited after watching the footage, but it bored me to death. I don’t know, maybe it’s how I perceive movement, but EVERY GT I’ve ever seen including this one looks slow as hell to me. It has a horrible sense of speed. I don’t know why I see it that way, but man it looked so slow and boring. I like Driveclub, I like Forza, but I just can’t get into GT. It aggravates me actually.
Looks like a well rounded package. Seems to pose class beyond just the gameplay. The music, menus, etc are well implemented. Will probably get this next month.
Im glad there’ll b more stars in the sky at night…… and how the clouds look even more realistic🤣🤣🤣
Oh that’s a nice article.
Awesome stuff. I could have watched hours of this. 👍🏻
Every single thing about this game looks absolutely amazing. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.
@OmegaStriver it might just be that you prefer arcade racers, and that is fine. To be honest, driving sims are more niche then people are willing to admit (personally, I do like them though).
@Cikajovazmaj Just curious, does the speed not seem very slow to you?
It says 100+mph, but looks 40mph at best.
Or
It says 160kmh, but looks 64kmh at best.
@OmegaStriver yes and no. I prefer rally sims which require a lot of quick reactions (you are basically skiing your way through a set of catastrophic failures), but speed does seem "normal". Effect you are referring to is typically created by overdone motion blur, that was supposed to induce cinematic action reaction. It's similar to how action seems faster in F'n'F movies than when you are doing a 100 going to your parents house over a weekend..
Same as PS4 graphics
Same game
Definitely buying it but will 100% remove half of the UI while racing, can barely see the track and other cars in all that info!
I would truly love to get into GT but worried it’s not my kinda game. So from a total newbie, I’d love it if more experienced players could answer some questions for me:
1. Is there a way to play the game in a bit more of an arcadey way? I mean more in terms of handling I guess. Or are the mechanics very unforgiving no matter what?
2. Are the tracks always very racetrack like, or are there locations where you just drive through some lovely scenery too? I really enjoyed Driveclubs track selection, to give an example, but Project Cars was a bit boring by comparison.
After the VR 'Demo' Mode in GT Sports I was soooo looking forward for full VR in GT7, but it seems they would have talked about it when you could play everything in VR.
Less VR than in GT Sports would be a big disappointment for me
It's Gran Turismo. People have their favourites but GT has and always will be the pinnacle of sim racing for me.
@velio84
Nah there needs to be a report on how many desperate millions got poured into the development and the sexist culture about car curves.
Also a report from Bloomberg confirming the game runs better on the PS5 pro.
Slight correction: it's not 'astrological' data, but more related to astronomical data. Astrology in GT7 might've been used for the roleplaying aspects, but not how the sky is simulated.
I am excited for GT7, however I will not lie and admit I found the presentation boring.
I respect the passion Kaz has though.
So excited for this. Been playing GT since the first game, this looks to be exactly what I wanted it to be. The weather is going to make a big difference to things. I just can’t wait to fire this up on my PS5!
Have not been this excited for a game in a while. Chomping at the bit to start playing.
Slightly better graphics apart, looks the same - immaculate showroom condition cars driving round a pristine circuit . Any dirt and crash damage? not much of a real life simulation if i can't smash up a Ferrari
I'm not much of racing game fan but I watched this with a friend who is only really into GT. As expected an insane amount of detail in every little thing. While I'm probably still not going to buy it I gotta say I appreciate this dudes passion for cars. It sounded like he was giving a sermon on why cars are God's greatest gift to humanity! 🤣
Cant come soon enough! I liked the state of play and deep dive - it gave me the insight I wanted.
I'm starting to get a bit bored in FH5 and I cant wait to get my teeth into this instead. Traditionally I've played and enjoyed these games for a long time once released, so I'm hoping this will give me my car fix for some time to come!
What song is playing around the 10.24 mark? Sounds like a British band called Nothing But Thieves but can't find mention of it anywhere.
@theNFFC GT players are playing to drive - its the act of driving that's on show here.
If you want stock car racing you are in the wrong place, and those of us who love this focus on driving skills wouldn't want any of that tat in this game. There's plenty of 'wham bam' titles for thrills for those who don't really want to drive, so there are others who will cater for your needs without GT polluting its focus.
I'm honestly shocked at how positive so many have been over it, was expecting too many to pick holes in it.
There is a "bug" at ~29:00. Car speed on speedometer is in miles already, but on HUD numbers are in KPH, but under numbers it is written MpH Waiting for free GT7 as bounty
Most interested in the performance of the AI and the way the single player campaign is structured. If it's old fashioned 3 lap races starting from the back of the pack with an overpowered car lapping everyone in 2 laps i'm out.
Well okay I'm not out but I wont be getting it at full price.
@ApostateMage I don't want to be 'that' guy but despite it being a fun game leaning towards realism, Gran Turismo really isn't a simulator. But please don't let that take away from your enjoyment
Looks impressive, I did try Sport, but just couldn't get into the whole "online" approach. Hopefully it provides the goods.
I enjoyed a little GT on PSX way back but as I've gotten older I just care less and less about cars. My interest in sim racers is essentially nonexistent.
I think reigniting a passion for car culture is going to be difficult. GT is a game about excess, and the excess of the automobile industry is one of the primary drivers of climate change. It's not really something worth celebrating in my opinion.
@RudeAnimat0r the Forza Horizon series is very popular (even more outrageously in 'excess' than GT), so I don't understand why you say that the passion in the industry as a whole needs to be reignited when your personal enjoyment of the culture has diminished.
@NeThZOR The article said Kaz fears new generations don't have the same passion for car culture and that he was hoping GT7 might change that. I was basically agreeing while saying I don't think the industry is something worth having passion for
@RudeAnimat0r gotcha
I agree with some others that this game doesn't hold much interest for me, and I don't think it looks as graphically advanced as it should. No issues for those who are looking forward to GT7 I hope everyone enjoys it.
My two cents though - the graphics look barely more advanced than old PS3/PS4 entries. Track scenery looks blocky and a bit meh, there's no wow factor with some of the background buildings, foliage and crowds. I don't understand why they include some of the cool weather effects on some tracks and not others - surely they should be implemented across the entire game, it's weird. There's no car damage that I'm aware of, which is quite immersion breaking (I understand it's likely a licencing thing where manufacturers don't want their products depicted in a deformed state). There's no real sense of speed with the gameplay.
I don't know, I really loved GT back on the PSone but ever since the PS2 iterations I've just never been able to muster much interest in the series - the games seem to have barely evolved over the years and the graphics, in my opinion, look old and outdated. Each to their own though and I'm sure GT fans will find a lot of fun to be had from this entry 🙂
@Flurpsel Well I know that it just feels great to blast a GT3 series motor around the Nürburgring or Monza, especially with a racing wheel. So much better than Forza, Assetto Corsa and Project Cars, in my opinion.
The online requirement makes this a no go for me... hard to enjoy a game no matter how great it is... when my Internet provider switched to a different company and my connection has gone broadband to DSL...
I’ll be there from day one, this is one of those games you can play during the whole generation.
My only (slight) misgiving is that every feature that is returning from GT Sport is almost EXACTLY the same, even down to the font it seems.
@Flurpsel I think it probably will be. You should give the online racing a go. It’s fantastic, with the majority of racers trying to race cleanly.
Game looks amazing but why cant they do realistic rain on a window screen and tyre spray. The best rain physics ive ever seen were in the forza 7 demo that was completely removed for the final game. Drive club was pretty good too.
@ApostateMage it definitely has a great feel to it. I would say no game can match it on a controller.
@MB81 I played a bit of GT Sport online years ago and had some really good fair races there. But in the end I didnt stick with it for a very long time.
Hi there fellow gamers.
It was an awesome State of Play. Didin´t think I could get more hyped, but Yamauchi san went full throttle on this one
I haven´t been more anxious and excited to play a GT game since GT3 on PS2. Boy, the HOURS I´ve put in that game......
And it was always super fun and addicting as heck.
I remember playing those ebdurance challenges with a friend who also loves cars and racing games and we would switch every hour so we wouldn´t get tired..... And even some family members would play as well..... Good times.
These next few weeks are going to wreck my wallet.
So many awesome games coming out, it´s insane.
Cheers, stay safe good people and happy gaming to us all
@smbeats
Snap! I'm the same. I had a PS1 and had sold it, but as soon as I heard of Gran Turismo, I bought another that week along with the game. I bought into the concept immediately.
I’ve booked release day off work for this one. Cannot wait.
@AdamNovice
Hi man
Ha it’s unfortunately quite simple. The article is positive so the comments are mostly positive.
It’s not all it takes but certainly gives an incentive and spurs the discussion.
The State of Play was really great quality though. There’s no denying it.
@Ljc1486 same here. Great minds think alike 👌👌
@JJ2 Absolutely agree, maybe I just resigned myself to people being negative. It's refreshing though, can't wait for March 4th.
i'm a big GT fan — been there since day 1. but... after watching this showcase i was left feeling underwhelmed. i'm sure gt7 will be another solid entry, but there isn't much that is new to get excited about. they did not give this franchise the shakeup many of us were hoping for. PD is still stuck in the past and is unable to provide fresh ideas to the the single player campaign. i'll stick to gt sport for a while longer i guess.
@JSnow2 I agree. People get more excited about PR then they do actual games.
Microsoft is getting all the love yet in the course of the next month PlayStation has three great looking exclusives and a loaded 2022. Sifu, Forbidden West, GT throughout the next 4 weeks.
People just don't actually care about games or quality anymore. They care about everything else. It's surprising to see people be positive for once. Forbidden West and GT7 couldn't look better. This is a level of quality most publishers can't or won't attain.
@Porco PD tried something NEW with GTSport and people cried for old GT. Now they combine the innovation from Sport with classic GT all in a stunning visual package and still you cry?
Nothing new?
Dynamic weather
Dynamic time
Temperature impacts tarmac
Music Rally
DualSense
3D audio
Ray tracing in race
Improved physics/chassis bobbing
GT Cafe
Real simulated skies
Not new but additions not in GT Sport
New tracks like Daytona
New cars
Real GT campaign
Drag racing
Split screen
More tuning
Customization
Museum
Hub
GT7 has 420+ cars and 34 locations with 97 layouts at launch. GT Sport had around 200 cars and 19 locations at launch. Like Sport, GT7 will add cars and tracks for free. I assume 600 cars, 40 location, and 120 layouts at minimum over the course of the game. If it's all free like in GTS this would be incredible.
Obvious visual improvements, more scapes, more photo options, more cars, tracks, modes, 4K/60/ray tracing/DualSense/3D audio/tech innovations. The depth of the weather and star system is unparalleled. Rain drying dynamically on parts of the track that see more sun and cars is incredible. The fact that it can be raining on one part of the track and completely dry on another is also amazing. The wetness gauge and weather predictor will add new elements of strategy to the game. Temperature affecting tire control/track wetness, etc will do the same. The depth of tuning and customization Adds more layers. Improved AI is huge. Even if it's a minor difference, it will be very impactful. The livery editor, social infrastructure, and collecting aspects are all improved. This is basically the game everybody wanted and I'm not sure what else polyphony could have done other than adding more cars.
@iamtylerdurden1 everything you listed is superficial. i was more referring to the core single player experience — in other words, we need a more engaging campaign. PD has been using the same campaign template for 25 years now.
Stars and clouds are similar to what was in GT6. Stupid ideas never cease from Kaz. Never have I ever... thought in a racing game "bullocks - Spa never gets clouds like that!"
I just want a good SP experience, and I don't think anything revolutionary in that regard is on the cards for GT7.
@Titntin - bumper car simulation it is then - just want some real life simulation when I hit a wall at 120mph- which I will do because i'm crap at it - just alway found it bizarre in this so called accurate simulation of driving nothing happens when you make an error everything has to look perfect all the time - ruins it a bit for me
@theNFFC I hear you, and you are more than entitled not to like that design choice.
It doesn't bother me in the slightest and its also how I play Forza, no damage and everything looking shiny. I would suggest most people are not bothered by this, which is why the game is so popular.
I personally think 'realism' in games is only useful if it adds to the games core mechanic in a useful way. For me, having damage in GT would get in the way of the core racing mechanic in a way that I would not feel is fun. Its enough of penalty that I've lost 10 seconds getting back onto the track, without the car no longer functioning properly, that would add too much frustration to races for me. Its like eating and sleeping in an RPG, its realistic to demand players do it, but its not fun.
I'm sorry the resultant game doesn't 'click' with you, as I find a lot of long term enjoyment from these titles and I'd prefer everyone could feel that joy.
@Titntin No I like these games just find it bizarre when they go in to so much minute details in the cars but you can't show a bit of damage when you clip a barrier - looks so fake in the replays. Graphical damage does not have to hinder gameplay look at Dirt 5 - just always bothered me that nobody seems to care that they go to so much trouble to be the most accurate simulation of driving yet without showing real life wear and tear its far from it.
Enjoy the game I'm sure we will anyway
Need to up date sim set up now . Fanatec dd I must order hope it comes in time for release date . Looks great I have never payed full price this gen for a game yet . Gt and horizon may change this . Mind you will be the only ones . Back to a true gt game let's hope so
@theNFFC
I have to agree with you damage would be great . And it's a shame manufacturers won't allow damage to be added . At least that was the reason its never implemented years back dont think it's changed . Mind you if it was allowed we never get a gt game relesed 😆 😂 maybe every 10 years ha ha
