Comfort is one of the most important aspects of any gaming set-up: the layout of your room; whether you are at a desk, or in your living room; the placement of your television or monitor; your attire. But none are as quite as important as a decent place to sit. Seating can come in the form of couches, beds, or dining-table chairs, but if premium quality is what you seek, then you need not look further than the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022.
Over the years, Secretlab has quietly established itself as the go-to brand of gaming chairs. However, as the years go on, and we pass iteration after iteration, it can be hard to consistently up your game. If you’ve already familiarised yourself with the Secretlab brand, what’s to place the 2022 edition above what came before? And what can a gaming chair truly offer that makes it worth its lofty price-tag? We’ve been settling into the Secretlabs Titan Evo 2022 for the last couple of weeks, and we are here to explain to you why it may just be a must-buy.
What Is the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022?
The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is the platinum class of gaming chairs. They come in both material and faux leather finishes, with a bunch of different colour options, and small, regular, and extra large sizings. Each chair comes with a reclining back, an adjustable base angle, height adjustment, and moveable armrests. They also come with a memory foam pillow — but more on that later.
If you were hoping for a more approachable price range with Secretlab's latest line-up you'll be sorely disappointed. Here in the UK, the starting price is £364 ($449) for the small base edition, and £434 ($569) for the XL. And these are just the base prices, as the selection of material, colours and supplements can bump the price all the way up to as much as £914 ($1099) — and that is at sale pricing.
Undoubtedly, it is a lot of money to sink into a chair, but you’ll know exactly where that money has gone as soon as you, well… sink into the chair. The Secretlab experience is a very customisable one, and one that at every turn aims to remind you that it really is the best in class.

What Is in the Box?
The Secretlab experience starts from the moment it arrives at your door. With a big chunky box, you are treated to a large high-quality instruction card, filled with pictures to aid assembly. Inside you’ll find the back, base, and wheeled legs to your chair, along with the cushioned arm-rest toppers, and memory foam pillow.
The assembly process can be a tad awkward at times, especially if you are assembling yourself, but Secretlab has gone a long way to ensure the process is as hassle-free as possible. When all was said and done, we had our chair up and ready for business in around half an hour.
While it isn’t to the detriment of the chair itself, we did find the packaging was overstuffed with various plastics, foams, and supplements of cardboard. While partly for protection, we did think this was all a bit overkill, and hardly as environmentally friendly as a lot of packaging comes these days.
Build Quality and Features
As you may have picked up from the start of this review, the build quality of the Titan Evo 2022 is spectacular. We received the faux leather variant with the red stitching finish and before you’ve even planted yourself on this thing, you can see the quality. It really is a looker.
Those impressions only improve as you sit for the first time, as the Titan Evo has a solid feel to it. With the aforementioned adjustments available across the recline, base angle, height, and armrests, you can quickly find the setting that is best for you, and feel at one with the chair.
With paddles on the underside for height and angle, and then the reclining handle on the side, everything is easily within reach, making it super easy to switch up your sitting position to suit your current activity, whether that be relaxed gaming mode, or for your more intense sessions.
We really liked the moveability of the armrests, too. You can raise or lower them, adjust the angle to be straight or at 45-degrees, and you can move them further forward or back, and left and right. Again, this is a hassle-free way of fitting your current sitting position.
There are two big features that we absolutely adored during our time with our chair. The first, that we really haven’t stopped banging on about since the chair was first assembled, is the new memory foam pillow. In previous iterations of the chair, the pillow was present, however it was attached to the chair via an elastic strap. This made it frustratingly common for the pillow to fall off the chair, which very quickly got on our nerves. Here, however, Secretlab has ditched the strap and opted for a magnetic base at the top of the chair. Aesthetically, this looks far sleeker than the strapped appliance, but practically, it was a one of the biggest improvements of the 2022 edition. The pillow did still come loose on the odd occasion, but even reapplying it was relatively simple, and the pillow was far more moveable thanks to the magnetic base.
The second newer feature is the lumbar adjustability. Previous models have had a set lumbar curvature, and if you weren’t a fan, there was a memory foam support you could buy from the Secretlab store — but this was another £50 on top of your already pricey chair. The 2022 edition however, includes an adjustable lumbar support. With wheels on the side of the chair, you can increase the curvature of the back’s base, and where it is positioned, which goes the extra mile to ensure the chair is a good fit for all heights and body types.
On top of all of this, the XL 2022 edition feels a little snugger than the 2020 version that we’ve moved from, but in all the right ways. With angled sides, the cushioning hugs your back, meaning you feel supported..
Comfortability
With all of these adjustable settings with the chair, you can imagine that we found the Titan Evo 2022 incredibly comfortable. We’ve been using this for our gaming sessions, along with working at a desk, and the chair suited both scenarios quite well. We never found ourselves getting uncomfortable, or even really needing to shift around. Once you find the right settings for you, the chair in many ways feels moulded to your body, and it means hours could go by without you ever feeling the need to stretch.
The overall build quality means that you don’t feel like you need to be especially careful with the chair, too. We’re not saying you should body slam onto it, but the Titan Evo 2022, feels more than equipped to handle anything you throw at it, which just reinforces the idea that this is a solid and reliable chair.
Should You Buy the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022?
Let’s get down to brass tacks, then. The Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 is a superb chair, and one that you're unlikely to regret sinking the money into. This is thanks to its solid build quality, and customisation options. Not to mention, it goes a long way to securing a slick look for your gaming set-up.
Are there more ergonomic chairs out there? Sure! It won't necessarily be the chair for everyone, and we'd still recommend having a look around before purchasing, but for the price and the features that come with it, you'd struggle to find one with comparable quality. Now, £350-£600 ($450-$700) is a big chunk of cash to spend on a chair, so it certainly does land within the “want” bracket over the “need” one. But to anyone that spends extended amounts of time gaming, or even sitting at a desk for work, they will benefit greatly from a gaming chair that is as reliable, comfortable, and customisable as the Titan Evo 2022.
What do you think of the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022? Does it sound like it would be worth the money for you? Recline on into the comments to let us know.

Just look at that.... Mjolnir splendor on the top shelf!
As it happens I just ordered 2 of those chairs just a few hours ago : )
Both completely black, leatherette and normal size.
My wife is not a gamer but as soon as she saw me looking at this model, that was it... "you're ordering 2, right?" .... (that wasn't the plan but... happy wife, happy life eh?)
I have last year's model, I really like it but I can't recommend it to people, for the price, I can only say I enjoy mine, and to do your own research as well.
Just to be clear, people use game consoles at a desk?
@Deljo I think some do, use a monitor for gaming instead. Seems to be quite a popular way of gaming.
@Deljo I do upstairs on my ps4, ps5 behind my tv downstairs. Been looking for a chair.
I got the Titan 2020 at the end of 2019 and its been brilliant. With lockdown and working from home since, I must sit on it for at least 11 hours a day. Probably more at the weekends. Really comfortable and have recommended them to a lot of people.
@Deljo Yes, I had the gaming PC and consoles all linked into a monitor. Then changed the room up and got an OLED for the consoles and got a new desk for the PC and monitor over to use with the work laptop. So now have 2 desks and just rotate the chair.
@Deljo I play my PS5 at a desk. Feels weird any other way. Like eating your tea on your lap in front of the tv.
If I learned anything from a 6 hour review of Cyberpunk 2077 I watched once, it's that ALL gamer chairs are inferior, overpriced versions of professional office chairs. So, you know...just buy an expensive office chair instead.
Never would have occurred to me but interesting that so many of you do. Do you all game on a pc as well?
Around this time last year, I was looking for a comfy gaming chair, but I went with a Serta XL Executive office chair instead ($450). It's been a year, and I have no complaints! Now, I prefer to game at my desk with my 48" LG C1 OLED using my PS5, Series X, and Switch.
@Deljo I haven't turned my gaming PC on in over 2 years. 😂 I only got it to play PUBG, as I got addicted to it. Few friends would squad up and play. But then it become plagued with more and more cheaters. So we all just lost interest in it. Before that I was console only and I went back to just playing consoles. Was that time that I switched to playing at a desk. Also found that monitors had better response times and refresh rates than normal TVs. Though aren't the biggest, so when I switched the desks I got the LG CX. I wouldn't go back to playing on an LCD TV.
@Deljo It's new for me. I used to always game sitting on a couch or in bed since I'm a console gamer. I mostly play single-player games, so I prefer to game at my desk now. No PC gaming for me, just my PS5, Series X, and Switch. It's great having my own space sitting on a comfy chair directly in front of a beautiful OLED display! And so immersive!
@Deljo Got my LG CX 48" on a gaming desk, and my PC under it. And the PS5 is tucked behind the display sitting comfortably on it's support (which extends behind the screen by quite a lot). You don't even know it's there. When you press the PS button, the CX switches to it automatically, and PS5's menu opens up like it's part of the TV.
When gaming on the console, I usually kick back a bit further from the desk, recline my chair, put my feet up an play.
So using a console at a desk is quite possible, fun and relaxing too, if you mix them up properly.
@Deljo I actually do as well, although I do a lot of gaming "work", where I need to be playing with the PC next to me so I can make notes of stuff, quickly add screenshots, etc.
(I do play PC games sometimes, too, but mostly old stuff.)
@RoomWithaMoose agreed. Plus gaming chairs look ugly to me
@Deljo I use a big comfy recliner about 4ft from a 50" TV/monitor for PC and consoles. Haven't gamed in a gaming chair in ages. Only way this might would be appealing to me is at work.
@Deljo i use my Xbox Series X at a desk for competitive shooters on a monitor, then Hook the Series X and PS5 up to a LG C1 65 inch for single player games. I do not have a fancy gamer chair at the moment tho. Wouldn’t mind one at some point.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika 😂 seeing all these YouTube content creators with the cliche fat racing gaming chairs, I’m almost embarrassed to be a gamer. I’m like bro just get a decent modern looking office chair if you’re going to spend all that money on the grossest piece of furniture known to man called the gaming chair. Them ***** should be burned and never sold to the public again 😂 rant done.
Got rid of my two "gaming chairs" and got a ergonomic mesh office chair for 130. Way more comfortable for way less.
@BrintaPap I use my sim racing rig (with racing chair) with my game consoles. Granted, not quite as comfortable playing NBA2K or Returnal as a couch would be, but ya work with what ya got!
You can use this money, for an executive office chair, and it's better for your back, more comfortable to sit in, will last longer, and is easier to move. I got a chair from my company, and ever since then I just refuse to use these overpriced racing chairs anymore... To each their own I guess.
Unless you're spending over 300 dollars on a racing style chair, a bog standard office chair will just be better. Don't fall for the marketing, most of these chairs are a scam.
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika
i use a vintage 1970s leather reclner with rose wood arms and rotating base...its super comfy and cost 40 quid....
Couch in the recliner position, side table and cup of tea, samsung neo qled 55 tv. Im older i aint going back to no desk lol.
Didn't know gaming at a desk was so uncool! I got my set up just right...sweet jar, beer coaster and other stuff at easy reach. Plus I can get right up close to the decent sized 4k monitor. I've got an ADX gaming chair. I have no idea about it other than it is a chair.
I just have to say, all you desk based console gamers are an absolute disgrace. Unless you have a medical condition there is literally no justification for it. No wonder the gaming community is so messed up.
@kyleforrester87 Wow, talk about medical condition... trolling much?
A gaming chair that looks more like an actual chair and not a cushion dressed as a garish teenage superhero. Might be a first. /jk
General advice is to avoid gaming chairs, which are almost all brand and gimmicks, and and just buy a quality office chair actually designed around the human body with real science.
Ex-office suppliers are your best bet for bang for buck. Get a barely used high-end office chair for a fraction of the price. Your spine, posture and wallet will thank me.
Honestly surprised so many of you use a desk for console gaming (although just remembered we're in the comment section of a gaming chair article...)but fair play it sounds like it works for you and I'm guessing it would be pretty immersive being so close. Might give it a go, cheers all👍
