Forza Horizon 5 is coming to the PS5. The open world arcade racer is among the highest rated Xbox console exclusives and is one of Microsoft’s “big three” franchises, alongside Halo and Gears of War. (Both of which are rumoured to release on PlayStation in the future.)
The game is being ported by well-regarded studio Panic Button, with oversight from series creators Turn 10 and original developer Playground Games. Additionally, it’ll feature cross-play with all existing versions of the title, and all DLC packs will be available day one.
This is undoubtedly going to be a colossal release on PS5, as while Gran Turismo 7 has comfortably dominated the console sim racing space, there’s been a real dearth of high-quality arcade racers on PlayStation for quite some time. DriveClub was arguably the last true classic, and that’s over a decade old at this stage.
When you consider the popularity of both PlayStation and racing games in Europe, we expect this to sell many millions of copies. The question is: will you be among those purchasing the title day one – or later down the line?
We still need information on a few minor details, like whether there’ll be a physical release, if it’ll support the DualSense controller, and how much it’ll cost day one. But you can wishlist the release on the PS Store right now.
So, will you be adding this Xbox Game Studios classic to your PS5 collection? Let us know in the comments section below.

I will maybe look towards FH6 on Day 1. Getting this game with almost 900 cars? Thats too overwhelming for new player. And living in Menu more than racing aswell seems trend with this game. Maybe I am totally wrong, then be free to tell me that.
I don’t really buy games anymore with the £70 jump and general cost of living. Indiana Jones will probably be my one purchase this year. I like Forza Horizon and would definitely play it on PS5 but that’s dependent on some sort of very cheap deal or a friend giving me their copy.
@nessisonett Sea of Thieves did get discounted quite quickly so there may be some good deals soon after launch.
The game is obviously quite old at this point, even if the port is new.
Day 1 for me
Forza Horizon 3, 4 & 5 were the Xbox exclusive games I was most jealous of
I can't wait
For sure i will be purchasing it on day one! As long there is a physical copy i can play completely offline with a version 1.0 i will buy. I always wanted to see a Forza game on PlayStation. Whether it's Horizon or Motorsport. I'm pleased with the news. Can't wait!! 🙂
Not really into racing games , good for those that are . Competition is always a good thing, especially for games like the crew. Only game i enjoyed was the burnout games
I would add - I have played it on PC since I think many of us played it there.
Currently still happy with GT7 and I don't get much time to play that.
I'm glad people are happy for this game, but racing games have never been my thing..... except burnout paradise, loved that game.
No probably not
Absolutely and won’t even look at the price. Shame we missed out on 4 though.
It's great fun, and runs really well on series X. But it does get samey. And the fact that you get such incredible cars so quickly does kill the sense of gradual, satisfying progress. Still, it's a fun blast to pick up here and there
Played it on Series X but even if I hadn't I still wouldn't buy it as I am very bored with open world racing in general. I much prefer traditional track racing games like GT7, ACC & Forza Motorsport.
Don't get me wrong FH5 is a good open world racer and well worth your time but it's just not something I have any interest in right now
Have it on the series X, so no need to buy it again.
No. Not interested with Forza.
But if there's another poll for if Sony revive their non-GT racing games like Jet Moto, Turbo Prop Racing, Motorstorm, or Wipeout then yes i would buy them.
Gutted that it’s not 4 tbh as bombing round the UK would have been good fun!
played FH2-5, inc DLC, to death on my XSX, and loved them. But will probably wait for FH6 before buying on my PS5 (but it'll be tempting!!). Would have bought it if it was FH4, which was my fave, UK bias obviously!
Gamepass is too good a deal for me to buy Microsoft games on PlayStation.
I don't like to buy triple AAA games digital. I prefer them physically. But this seems to be digital only, right?
Well, if that is the case I might buy it eventually during a sale.
it’s a boring series
I prefer gt and motorsport.
Having played it on the S I didn’t like how it just threw cars at you quickly.
I may have been tempted had it been a ‘complete edition’ and not had to buy all dlc later
I'm not a racing game fan usually but loved playing horizon 2 on Xbox one when I briefly owned one.
It's something I'd love to play but wouldn't want it at full price unless maybe in a serious gaming lull
Overrated in the extreme. Definitely not.
I actually preferred 4 due to the setting but this is about as good as this type of racing game gets. If it's your bag then you shouldn't hesitate.
@MrPeanutbutterz perhaps in your opinion, but certainly not the majority's opinion. If someone is in to this kind of game then it really is a great game.
Imo FH4 was better and I got bored with FH5 pretty fast but I’ll probably get it in a deep sale down the line. I really hope it does well on Playstation, I want MS as a third party publisher in the future 🙂
It’s my favourite game on Xbox and easily my most played on the Series X. I won’t be double dipping though as I cant be bothered starting from scratch.
Played on my Series S so no need to double dip
I have selected yes but that may change if it turns out to be a Switch 2 launch title.
I'd prefer to have something to play on my shiney new console.
Put a ton of time into it on the Series X and PC via Game Pass. I’ll 100% buy it on PlayStation and play through it all again.
@Frmknst I don't know about you but I had to pay to play it on gamepass, it isn't free
You can play it on gamepass at no extra cost which isn't the same as free.
Have too many games I want to play in my back-catalogue... played FH5 on my gaming PC... but to be honest, got distracted, and fell off. I actually don't need to fill my life with more games. I want to finsih the games on my own list first.
@Frmknst I reckon £50-70 is cheaper than -
Buying a £500 series X (for same performance) and an ongoing GP subscription.
I love the Forza Horizon games and despite having Game Pass and a Series X, and having this purchased on steam, I'll buy this if they implement haptics OK and have a decent pro version. In particular I'd like to see the LOD models swap out further back as they are off-putting on series X, but obviously much better on the PC version.
It's a shame we can't get FH4 now its delisted, as that's my fave, but FH5 is a great game in its own right and sits in a popular genre gap where really only 'The Crew Motorfest' exists on playstation.
I'll likely get it at a discounted price. I've played the FH games before and they are fun but can get repetitive quick and from memory the handling can be pretty frustrating at times. Feels like the cars are on ice. That being said, there's lots of cars, good graphics and its nice to just drive around aimlessly time to time. TDU Solar Crown being the dumpster fire it was means FH can fill that void.
Halo MCC and Gears though - That'll be day 1 as it will be historic day in gaming and despite playing them multiple times in my life I will gladly replay and attempt to plat.
@nessisonett Exactly the same for me, I think I bought one game last year (Alan Wake 2) and it was heavily discounted with all DLC.
@Frmknst
Why so salty?
1) It's not generic at all - have you even played it? Name even one other open world carpg that's not The Crew Motorfest or the awful TDU if there are so many...
2) It's not 'completely free' at all - GPU is £180 per year and most users here will not have a series X which can cost £675 for a 2tb model (Almost the same as a PS5 pro but no hardware upgrades to justify it).
I DO have a series X and GPU, but I'll still buy it on playstation.
MS stand to make plenty of cash by selling to PS players - is that not what you want? It's certainly what Microsoft want.
Day 1 purchase. I’ve had it since release on my xbox series x. Hands down the best racer ever made IMO. Hopefully, it will have PS5 pro enhancements and dualsense features.
I'll happily buy the next one because I just prefer to play on PlayStation. But I'm not buying a game I've already played to death on GP.
I already own it on PC, so the main reason would be to play multiplayer with my 8 year old boy, (with my PC at the back of the living room we can play online together whilst in the same room).
So yeah if I can get it cheap, as he loves playing it by himself as well
If you've not played it, I can highly recommend it, just don't compare it to GT7 as they're nothing alike. This is just a very fun open world arcade racing game which is only bettered by its own predecessor in the genre
@Moonmonkey completely different games mate, horizon is a more arcade racer
@GeeEssEff
lol. Starting from scratch is really appealing to me!
I recently bought FH4 before they delisted it on series X (I already have FH4 and FH5 on steam too) and have deleted my cloud saves and local saves so I can start that again.
To me, a great racing game bears repeated playing so I'm happy to do so.
Bought an Xbox a few years ago just to play Forza Horizon 4 (and I'd say it was worth it after Flight Sim came out as well) ...so I might get this on sale. Still keeping my Xbox around for Flight Sim, Banjo- Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Yes, I'm dead serious, I like that game) and 60 FPS Sonic Unleashed ...but at this point, all those might get ported as well lol
Still, you really can't underestimate how historic of a move this is. Not since Sega released Sonic on Nintendo's GameCube, at least. If Halo is next, it truly is cats and dogs living together lol
Not really into the racing games but I respect how good the forza series has become esp horizon.
But like someone else said Sony needs to bring back its old non sim racers.
I miss motorstorm.
The only xbox ones I would care for are the old halo and gears games.
There ain't much else xbox has ever done and even now halo and gears have fallen pretty far in their quality.
Nope, already played it on xBox but I'm happy that others who wanted to play it now get to experience it. If it were Flight Sim or Age of Empires, that would be a big yes. But not Starfield, I tried to play it a couple of times and found myself going back to No Man's Sky each time to see what was new.
Great this is coming to PS but I’d personally prefer the normal Forza from Turn 10.
Hopefully that’ll make the jump too at some point!
Don’t think I will. Not a big racer fan but wouldn’t rule it out entirely. Maybe wait for a big sale or see if they release it on PS+ sometime.
Tried it on Xbox but I didn’t use the platform enough to ever feel comfortable with the controller and the buttons got me mixed up with Nintendo so it was very off putting. On the Dualsense I suppose it will feel far more comfortable and enjoyable for me
I've already played it. It's a great game but as I've already played 3 and 4 before it I'm a smidge burnt out on the formula.
I'd still recommend it to any racing game fan.
I don't really like racing games and I like open world racing games even less but I do like the look of the arcadey-ness of it. If it's cheap I might give it a go but I'm not rushing out to buy it day one.
I already have it on Steam, but if the PS5 port is good, then I may double dip. Great game.
Definetly day one for me. I played 3 on PC and misses it ever since. Amazing game.
Nope.
I have zero interest with ultra realistic graphic racing games with over than 100 GB size.
Doesn't look interesting for me.
I prefer cartoonish racing games like Mario Kart with items to smack onto opponents and smaller GB size.
No real interest, might try a trial to see if I like it but probably won't buy an Xbox dev game until they bring over either halo, fable, gears or age of empires 2.
Yes, yes, yes! Forza Horizon is by far the best arcade racing series around. NFS and the Crew are in serious trouble now.
I’ve played it on the Xbox One X and I enjoyed it very much so, it’s the only the game I regret not getting a Series X for.
amazing game and an amazing series Playground Games do not get enough praise as a studio
@pushL7 love it put still think project Gotham racing is my favorite
@GirlVersusGame the new age of empires game works so well on control pad! i am pretty sure it will come to PlayStation eventually
@REALAIS FH6 is meant to be in set in Japan
I always buy every forza game day 1 with the complete editions on Xbox regardless of my gpu sub. Outside of Forza 5(not horizon), they have never failed me.
Despite having put hundreds of hours into horizon 5 on xbox already, I intend to do the same here and run through the game again. They are that good. Itll easily be the best racing game on ps5.
@nessisonett I can attest that Indiana Jones is an excellent choice. It's the first game I've paid full price for in years.
If I do pick up on PS5 it'll be in a deep sale, I think it was this one I played quite extensively on PC Game Pass, racing games tend to blue into one for me.
#1 "I have ferrari. Do you want to buy it?"
#2 "Of course but wait what is the price point?"
#1 "That does not matter... its a ferrari dude."
@Scrubchub We don't need to state "IMO" explicitly. It being my opinion is implicit. I'm posting using my own account, no one else's, etc.
And the question posed by the article is "are you buying it". The majority liking it is here nor there; I don't like it, therefore I'm not buying it.
I can play it “for free” on GP but can’t get bothered. I love more realistic games such as GT7 and WRC, but this feels like the handling of cars in GTA5 and quickly gets boring.
@Titntin I can understand that, it’s a fantastic game. It would be more tempting for me if the backlog wasn’t so vast, the upcoming release schedule so enticing and my free time so minimal. My eyes are almost entirely on Civ7, Avowed, Monster Hunter and Kingdom Come 2…Truly mad February!
I'll be buying this game for my son since he enjoyed the game when I used to have game pass.
My option is “I love it on series X and look forward to also loving it on my PS5.”
It’s a shame that licensing doesn’t allow 4 to also get a PS port. Since getting my X a little under a year ago, I’ve had more fun with 4 than 5 (and also enjoyed 2 and 3 thanks to physical copies!) but 5 is a fantastic game. It’s a shame the PS4 folks won’t get to play since 5 exists on XBox One, but hopefully this might mean 6 will be an X/S/PS5 dedicated title.
@Frmknst it's not free though. good value but not free
Yup! I played this a lot on Xbox and it was fun. This game was on of the few games that made me hesitant to sell my Series X. So I'm glad to be able to go back in.
Where's the option "I have it on PC"?
Day One here! Forza Horizon 5 is amazing and playing with my G29 it will be great
Sick Forza is one game I think I would've liked from Microsoft
@GeeEssEff I get that too mate, kingdom come deliverance isn't my thing, but we have so many great games to play. I'm still playing indy as I get a headache after an hour so I have to play in small chunks
Have a great one!
for 79,99? Who wouldn't ?
Absolutely, day one purchase without a doubt!
Forza Motorsport maybe, as that series always had better car customization than it's direct competitor Gran Turismo (i.e. they're both track racers, although apparently Motorsport is no-where near as good as GT7).
Forza Horizons nah, we already have a gaggle of open-world arcade racers. If I feel like racing open-world, I'll just load up The Crew Motorfest.
Will absolutely buy once on sale; I’m too poor to pick it up day one.
@Anti-Matter Items to smack into opponents??? Sounds a bit violent for me, I prefer cartoony games without the needless violence so no thankyou
I need Midnight Club back! It’s the only racing series I’ve ever loved. It and RC Pro Am. Which isn’t really a series. Still…
Been playing this on my Series X for years. So, no.
Forza 5 a 2021 game may be worth $29.99 physical. I have a backlog of 20 games still sealed, it will be a while before I could even play it. Maybe around next black friday.
Spiritual successor to the PGR games IMO, something Sony players sadly missed out on too.
I've already played them on all on Xbox, but I think this will fill a gap on Playstation. On the plus side if I get it on PS5, I'd at least have some friends to play with given that barely anyone buys Xbox so I'm a loner over there.
Just a shame in my view that Sony-only-gamers will experience this one as their first Forza game, as I feel the location is one of the weaker in the series. Just my personal view. 2, 3 and 4 were more my bag, even though technically the game is at its best in 5.
I got Horizon 5 Premium for free with a GameStop Series X bundle a year or ago when the bundle was cheaper than the console by itself. Buying on PS5 will be the first time I've spent money on the game.
There have only been a small handful of games I wanted to play that were only on Xbox over the years, definitely not enough to make me buy one. Forza was one of those games. Will be a day 1 purchase for me!
No. I've played it before and didn't enjoy it.
Pretty excited for this. I was always hoping for an open world Gran Turismo game. The last proper open world racer I played was burnout paradise and nfs unbound to a less degree.
Will probably get it if it's no more than £30 would have paid more if it had all the DLC but knowing Microsoft they'll try to squeeze every penny they can out of you they got to make the Game Pass lost up somehow
Double dipping for sure.
Only if my Xbox progression carries over.
I’d rather have Forza Motorsport.
I prefer track racers, but I’ll probably get it on sale when it’s about £15
Barely played it on the Xbox, but then again I don't really like "pure" driving games, GTA is more my cup of tea. As a driving game though it's probably the best out there
Cool that MS are releasing their stuff on Sony's platform but I won't be picking it up. Racing games are something I haven't bothered with for years now. I want my crazy super fast ridiculous arcade racers, even if they have licensed cars. Last one I loved was Blur on the 360. Since then Bizarre was shuttered, pure and split second were good, studio shuttered, Burnout has died apparently, no more wipeout and Need for Speed lost its way along time ago. We have no more cart racers and in general fast simple track/point to point arcade style games are no more.
Sorry, just an old man lamenting so many genres vanishing 😭
I'm still playing it on Xbox One like some kind of peasant.
Hell yes. And as soon as they start releasing Halo and the mainline Forza games I'll get rid of my Series X. I literally only bought it last year to play Halo and Forza, seems like a waste of money now to be honest 🤦♂️
@AshleighKinsella There will be no physical release
Not buying, been there done that. Own them all on XBox already.
I'm going to wait for the Motorsport series to be released on the PS5.
The Horizon series doesn't really interest me, unless Microsoft decides to release Forza Horizon 4, which I've read is the best in the series.
Already played through it on my Series X, so no. It's pretty good, but I honestly don't think open world works very well for racing games. Just give me a track based game where I can jump straight from race to race.
Anyone know if this has wheel support?
I'm not a racing game guy, but my best friend is. I may it for him.
If the price is right I will 100% buy
Forza Horizon 5 when released & also will purchase all dlc too.
No I'm playing Forza 4 it was cheap for £16 on steam with all content minus the map location thing but it runs like a dream on my pc I found 4 better than 5 to be honest prefer the Scottish area than the island of 5
@N1ghtW1ng The latest one is broken and absolute mess and they know it it runs like crap on PC and 7 is far better
@N1ghtW1ng You got GT on PlayStation. Why need Motorsport
@AhmadSumadi
Nice to see another fan of the Midnight Club series. MCLA is one of my favourite arcade racers of all time.
@Nakatomi_Uk
The thing that puts me off about FH5 is that, apparently, you're basically given cars and don't really have to earn them. Feels way too much like NFS: Most Wanted (2012).
@anoyonmus
It's always good to have more choices.
Is there VR support? I'd be all over this if so. If not... it's a much harder sell.
@N1ghtW1ng true but I heard the new Motorsport was not quite well liked by players.
