15 more games are being added across PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium this month, and as always, we want to know what you think of the lineup. At a glance, August's selection is what we'd call... interesting.
Extra starts off strong with the all-time great RPG that is The Witcher 3, which includes the much enhanced PS5 re-release from 2022. We'd recommend Wild Hearts as well, a Monster Hunter-style action RPG that was almost completely overlooked back when it launched last year.
Cult of the Lamb, meanwhile, is a highly rated indie hit, and RIDE 5 is for those who have a need for two-wheeled speed. Admittedly, though, things get a little iffy with the inclusion of Watch Dogs 2 and Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker. Both games have been made available through PS Plus before.
And then... well, we hope you like Sword Art Online! To be fair, some of the SAO games are pretty solid — we had fun with both Hollow Realization and Fatal Bullet when we reviewed them years back, but the anime adventures certainly won't be for everyone.
Moving on to Premium, it's, er, time for TimeSplitters. The classic shooter series is apparently back with a bang, and having three games drop at once is a nice bonus.

Very happy with these additions, notably SAO Last Recollection, Cult of the Lamb and Wild Hearts.
If I hadn't already played Cult of the Lamb I would be happy to give it a go. I have so a nothing month on extra for me unfortunately.
Last few months has been dissapointing mostly. Hope they improve things around with selections.
I haven't renewed my PS Plus after all those terrible months. Cult of the Lamb would be the first game I'd play in a long time. It still isn't that much of a deal though since retail price is € 12,49.
Timesplitters 2/FP make up for everything. Highly recommend!
I am no longer subbed but I might jump for Plucky Squire’s addition in September
Not bad, i like how they put lots of "Multiplayer Options" in most of the games.
because thats whats PS+ was meant to do yeah? playing multiplayer.
or else i just buy physical single player games or on 50-75% digital discounts.
Yea Premium is definitely better this month.
Brilliant. I already own them on Xbox, but cannot have enough Timesplitters. I had hoped for a remastered trilogy for a long time, but as a result of one company’s record level of incompetence, this is likely the best we are going to get.
Short answer? Nope.
Long answer: Noooooooope.
Timesplitters alone has me happy, rest of the lineup doesn't have anything for me but it's not bad I'd say.
Haven't played timesplitters 2 in over 20 years. Looking forward to giving that a blast. Especially that Goldeneye inspired first mission
I rank August the 8th best month this year for PS Plus.
Nothing for me this month, but not a bad selection. The value of the extra tier is amazing
Very happy with Premium this month. Time to split!
Bought Cult of The Lamb and all the DLC days before this announcement. Frustrating, but been playing it and it’s fun!
The Timesplitters games of course.
I already have the physical deluxe edition of Cult of the Lamb but to anyone who hasn’t gotten it or played it you definitely should it’s absolutely great
@somnambulance
Plucky Squire looks amazing didn’t expect it to be a day one PS plus game though.
I remember Oddworld Soulstorm, Stray and Sea of Stars being day one’s on PS Plus as well.
I definitely need to start going through Stray again soon I originally played it via PS plus on the PS4 and absolutely loved it, it’s easily one of my favourite games.
I got it as a Christmas present for the PS5 and still haven’t gotten round to playing through it again
Looking at the PS Plus Premium poll I can immediately tell how many of you here did not have a PS2 when you were a kid lol. I do not know anyone from the early 00s who does not love at least one Timesplitters game.
It’s a good month just not for me. Have most of the games on both Extra and Premium (Timesplitters series through BC on Xbox). But glad there’s some good stuff for others to dig into.
Thrilled to have all three Timesplitters games!
So, which Sword Art Online game should I try first, having never played a single one or know anything about the anime or whatever it is.
I am subbed and think it's crazy value for money, just letting everyone know incase anyone gives a flying giraffe
Cult of the lamb is good I just bought it already same with the Witcher. Might be fun to give timesplitters another go if I ever pull myself away from Elden ring
@Dragoon1994 Loved Stray when I played it last. I think Stray might’ve been the first game my son ever sat down and watched me playthrough. Had a lot of fun with that one. Dave the Diver and Animal Well were both day 1 on PS+ and the Quidditch game will be day 1 as well. There’s honestly been more PS+ day 1s than Gamepass this year, it feels like.
@somnambulance
Aww that’s lovely glad he enjoyed watching you play through something.
Yeah I forgot Dave the Diver was a PS plus day one game, still haven’t gotten or played it yet.
Can’t wait to see how they adapt the story of Stray for the film, I got teared up at certain points. Hope they do a sequel for it
Ride 5 and wild hearts. Both look decent.
Tempted to try cult of lamb but always felt it might suit the 'ald Steamdeck more than PS5 .
Will play Cult of the Lamb but nothing else.
Luckily I have a huge backlog so I’m not too fussed about what’s added.
It’s a great month, even having played Cult of the Lamb at launch.
Cult of the Lamb is enough for me. Got a big backlog on the go so that's fine. I might pay the tenner for the remaining days of Premium before my subscription is up and give Timesplitters a whirl
Quite frankly, whatever peoples' general feelings about PS Platinum, I'm in it for the Time Splitters games. Really looking forward to those classics.
I don't even remember why I bought premium because I haven't used any of its benefits even once...
Surprisingly satisfied with the Premium selection this time thanks to Timesplitters, but since I’m not a fan of SAO, Extra’s lineup doesn’t do much for me (though having The Witcher 3 is at least a nice novelty, and might entice me to try the DLC’s I never got round to).
Cult of the Lamb absolutely, and I’m one of the 6 people in the world who doesn’t own and hasn’t played The Witcher 3, so this month works for me! 😸
its awesome timesplitters is coming and saves the month for me personally, however, it is a Godly selection if you have never played The Witcher 3 or Cult of the Lamb. both fantastic games, I've just finished them already.
I've been contemplating getting cult of the lamb since it came out, I just have a very tight non existent budget these days.
So I kept holding off for sales, but they never really went to a number I felt comfortable with, for a game I may not enjoy playing myself and may just like the idea of.
So I'm very happy that I get to give it ago and play through.
You know premium, I signed up because the upgrade price was just ridiculous low for over half a year when u got it.
I'll admit though, I tried and failed to understand the nostalgia aspect of playing old games, esp the early 3d games.
I mean I have fond memories of playing most of the games on offer but honestly, the graphics the controls, I just don't get it.
I'd rather have them as memories of more innocent times and how ground breaking they may of been at the time.
I've just decided I'm not a person who can play the games again and appreciate them when 3d graphics and modern controls have come so far.
The only games I'll play from back then are 2d games, or tycoon games, which seem to hold there own to the passage of time.
Just take syphon filter, everyone bangs on about how good it was and would love a modern take and I myself used have hours of fun going through those games as a teenager.
But going back and playing, I'm like is this it. Hahaha
Great month. Maybe one of the best since the new service launched
This is the year I turn auto renewal off. Not falling for that again.
Good game but, I have several of them already so it's pointless. Not bothering to renew my subscription when it expires.
I am hoping I can buy Timesplitters series, I don't do subs
