It's a glorious day for fans of fractured European history, as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is finally here.
The hardcore RPG sequel always promised to build upon what its 2018 predecessor got right, and going by the rave review scores, it seems to have succeeded. Henry's sophomore adventure is all but guaranteed to be a hit amongst those who have the patience for such an immersive and demanding release.
"In daring to deliver its singular vision for a game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 transports even the most grizzled genre veterans back to a time of truly immersive video game experiences," reads our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 PS5 review.
We concluded: "Challenging, uncompromising, and thoroughly engrossing, it's in a league almost entirely of its own." The game was handed an exceedingly rare Push Square 10/10. One for the history books!
But that's enough gushing — we want to know if you're actually playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 now that it's here. Vote in our poll, and then tell us of your plans in the comments section below.

I'm tempted to try it at some point. Looks like a technical marvel too
I cannot stress how much this game does not appeal to me. Good luck to anyone who enjoys it though.
Going to finish Dynasty warriors origins first then decide - its tempting (particularly as its technically so strong / Pro version), but time limited missions, managing things like eating & sleeping (in game!) , spurious mission completion methods to get the best result sometimes in key missions (that went completely against marked objectives on occasions), in the original really, really, put me off.
Edit - and as I am reminded of in a comment a few down (thank you), needing a potion you have to spend time to brew, just to save outside when you want to is really frustrating!
This game is just too huge for me, I also want to spend some time with my family.
Thought about it until I saw 100-200hr platinum.
Maybe one day in another quiet period.
@Rich33 exactly the same for me.
It looks like a really impressive achievement, and I’m sure once you’re on top of things it must be amazing, I just don’t have the time for save points and all the sim side of things these days - I struggle enough in real life.
Im playing the first kingdom come deliverance right now.and im enjoy it.so i will get kingdom come deliverance 2 will have to wait.word up son
Yes and it’s amazing. So well done!
Tempted to try this but I haven’t played the first one, currently on sale on the ps store I saw. Would people recommend the first one?
Nah, sounds like hard work to me.
So I thought I’d give the first one a quick spin to see what all the fuss is about and I’m absolutely loving it so I will be picking this up eventually. Just have to tear myself away from it now in order to finish up the last bit of Metaphor!
@Hyena_socks
Yeah, I know what you mean. And I had forgotten the potion use for saving - thank you.
When I play a game, I just dont want all that deeper simulation stuff - give me a Hogwarts legacy type game where I can attend lessons when I want to, and wander the school / area night and day at MY leisure!
Its a shame, because the setting, story, etc, really appeal to me - I may get it, but later on, but if the visuals/fps hadnt been to the high standard they are I wouldnt have bothered.
I’ll be playing it eventually but it’s too big to sink into right now.
Planning to do avowed then wilds
Doesn't looks interesting and feels like it needs 30-50+ hours to finish. So no, gonna skip it. I'm currently got burned out with RPG or any games that requires weeks to finish.
Not yet. The announcement of lots of story DLC made me decide to wait till the whole package is out.
I was gutted that I couldn't start playing it until 4pm this afternoon. Just started it and it looks and feels soooo much better than the first game. Can't wait to see what shenanigans Henry and Hans get up to.
See you all on Saturday, you'll never guess what I'll be playing.
Too deep for my liking but im glad it reviewed well and it does look good.
I’m tempted, especially after all of the glowing reviews. However, I don’t think I would have the patience or time for it. I’m hoping for some kind of trial/demo, either that or try the first one which is currently on sale 🤔
Struggled with the first game so probably a pass from me it looks fantastic but I've got a low tolerance for frustration and the first game just pissed me off lol.
I’ve had the original in the backlog for over 5 years and I just never feel motivated to start it. Everyone I know who has played it loves it… but there’s always something I fancy playing more for some reason.
No. I'm sure it's a great game, but a realistic medieval times simulator where people just walk around and swing swords at each other just isn't my idea of a good time.
For anyone that is skeptical the game is dense but you really can brute force your way through if you don't want to be bothered with too much complexity, at least from my understanding. Just started this morning and having a great time so far
Never played the first one and could not tell from the review, but is there magic and other non-swordplay/archery elements to the combat (like Skyrim or Witcher) and are there classes for your character (understand it is the same protagnist but not sure how much gameplay can influence it)? If like Skyrim, might help the itch while waiting forever for Skyrim. But, if just swordplay, could see that getting old over time. Sorry if I missed the mention of magic.
Waiting for this workday to end. Got the workout run in at lunch ready to gi
Absolutely not my type of game.
Yeah i'm playing it and i loved the first game. So far its too early to say much but visually its stunning on the Pro.
Just not for me. I got the first one for cheap but i didn't enjoy it.
3 hours to go before I get home and start it up. Couldn't be happier for the devs over the outstanding reviews. Sounds like they learned all the right lessons from the first, which was my #1 game of the PS4 generation.
Sounds like a remarkable achievement that no matter how much I wanted to, I'd never be able to get into something like this.
Last one immediately turned me away. Swords and first person was just too much. If it had a witcher perspective I'd be in.
"It's a glorious day for fans of fractured European history"
Strong opener
I am gutted it is like it is. I really wanted to play it, but having bounced of relatively pain-free games like Witcher 3, I know how this would end! And at £60-£70 a pop., I can't afford to just sample these huge games before selling on eBay a week later.
Has my retail came today. I'll be playing in about 3 days. After the patch finishers downloading..🤣..Ouch.
Nah I prefer to play third person games especially when it’s RPG’s.
If third person is option then yes otherwise no
@TheLotteryMan1
Just an fyi it would install much quicker in rest mode
Still trucking through the first KCD and absolutely loving it. Not at all bored with the world and mechanics either, so I'll likely jump into the sequel immediately after.
Definitely not now, with new Trails and Monster Hunter on horizon, but I'll sure get it on April or May.
its £49 at argos got my copy today
Really doesn’t appeal to me and at 30% so far I’m not the only one.
Will definitely not be paying for this game.
Will wait to see what Avowed is like, seems more my type of game.
I think it's utterly brilliant. Looks and runs amazing on my Pro.
Some people that don't like it seem to be getting angry and very keen to post how much they don't like it and I'm not sure why? I hope it's not because it got a 10/10 because, thank goodness, we don't all like the same things!
Eurogamer is the same...anyone daring to say how much they like the game is being shot down. It's very odd behaviour.
If only games like this released 15-20 years ago when backlogs weren't really a thing and I had time like when I was at school/university!
@ApostateMage....you'll love this game even more when they add a 'Cyberpunk mod' onto it 🤣🤣🤣
@PorkChopExpress I'm really interested and not interested at all. The game sounds incredible, a true RPG. Alas, that attention to detail and the huge time commitment makes it difficult for many of us to consider with many games exceeding 20/40/100 hours nowadays. Still might grab it through.
@Jettstyles ...its NOTHING like Skyrim. Totally different kind of game
I’m tempted, but scared. The 100+ hour games bounce off me a lot of times, but I’m so curious about this one. The “it’ll be for you or it won’t” is so tantalizing for me!
There’s not an option regarding KCD for “I bought the first game but haven’t started it yet and plan to play it soon”
The sequel looks great and I assume I’ll want to get to it eventually also.
@KingPev I can actually see Henry of Skalitz dropping words like 'choom', 'gonk', 'preem' and 'nova'.
@HappyGamerGirl The Eurogamer review comments section is toxic as hell right now and its the people agreeing with the review who are being the toxic ones.
my mate picked it up and is playing it, and streaming it to my PS5 and I'm really enjoying watching him play it. still not sure it's for me, but it's clearly a very good game
Not until Rebirth is finished.
Yeah, it is very cool to finally be back in Bohemia!
I read somebody saying it ain't ND level game, but ND games are so limited in scope that it is even comparable. You should compare it to Fallout or Skyrim, and graphically it seems quite gorgeous on PS5. Haven't had negative issues yet.
@ApostateMage ...yeah as he's short circuiting their brains from a distance 🤣
I spent an hour yesterday watching story recaps from the first game to get ready. Going to play it tonight and can’t wait.
@somnambulance its a blast! go for it!
I'll be playing a little bit tonight. I'll pace myself like I do all 10/10 games. See you all in 4 months 😭😂
Was on the fence ..and I impulse bought it ....have yet to start it though....just finished Indiana Jones and started Sniper elite resistance....may start it later in bed on the portal though
It's actually quite interesting to see how much this game was hyped and how mainstream it's being portrayed this time around. The first one was always kind of applauded but with the fine print that this is a game that absolutely won't appeal to a significant amount of people.
I played almost 80 hours of the first one and didn't even get anywhere near completing it so part of this take is based on the fact that I did a lot of side content but I like open world games for that if the sign content is decent enough.
However with Kingdom Come Deliverance I definitely could see the cracks after a dozen hours or so. Where the side content had a lot of copy and paste and repetitive elements and a lot of that depth and immersive Sim nonsense begins to feel repetitive too as it's not actually that deep it's just cumbersome for the sake of trying to emulate realism. In the end I got the same open-world bloat boredom that I get with modern day Ubisoft games and I think a lot of that is because of the combination of repetition and the story that I just didn't find that interesting nor did I find any of the side quests super interesting aside from a few gems. It was just a lot of traveling back and forth a lot of cumbersome mechanics to drag that out along with the annoying save system that essentially has you traveling even more just to find a bed that you can save in, and then travel all the way back to your goal. If it isn't fun, why do it.
It still was fun for the like $10 I got the complete package of the first one for, however I couldn't see myself spending $70 for this sequel when it looks to me to just be the same game but bigger and with some Kinks ironed out. They kept a lot of the systems that needed refining that I chalked up to indie status or Jank. I'm not saying get rid of the cumbersome and janky feeling combat if that's a design choice they intens but at least refine it don't just double down on some of the aspects of the game that honestly are just unappealing straight up unless you're looking to play a survival game and frankly don't work well.
With a sequel there was potential to refine all of these issues however I feel like we're seeing something very similar to like Dragon's Dogma 2 where it was less a sequel and more a rerelease or 1.5 edition or even akin to modern-day Triple A sequels, where they don't take the right lessons from the success of the first iteration and instead just copy and paste it because they think that they have a winning formula for sales.
I say again for those maybe being lulled into believing this is a surefire hit you will love: this is a very very Niche game for a very very particular gamer interest and I think a lot of people on the console side should absolutely do some research and perhaps play the first or wait for a sale before jumping into a game like this. PC folk can just do a trial on Steam and see but yeah I'm not disappointed with the first game because I paid so little for it but I do think that it overstays it's welcome.
Happy for those that like it, however I do question wonder how many will
Pick this up beyond this hype window, and even more so how many actually finish it after realizing this is far different than your avg rpg.
@themightyant (#16) seconded, exactly like with the first. So much content!
I have the first one sitting in my Epic Games library - it was free. I tried it, and my PC struggled quite a lot, so it got relegated to the black hole that is my backlog. If I need a JRPG break and nothing else grabs me, I'll give it a spin with my new(er) rig.
Bought and downloaded but not started. Busy with Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries. I hope Deliverance 2 has sorted the combat so it's actually fun now.
I would be playing it if Civ 7 did not drop thursday. Spent a 120 on that as I will be playing that till mh wilds. Which I will probably be playing for a 1000 hours again. They choose a horrible time to release with all these massive games on the horizon
@PorkChopExpress People has different taste. Not everyone wants to play RPG that needs 50-100 hours to complete nor play games with combat that looks very limited with stamina gauge because it tries to be 'realistic'. Good for people who likes this game though.
What can you say about the combat system? Is it like the one in the first part?
@Max_the_German That's ironically the reason I play games to avoid that.
Been playing it since Sunday. It's a masterpiece that deserves the praise.
Going to wait for the reviews of players who will put 500 hours in this game. I'm sure the first impression is "wow" but I'm not sure it holds in the long run.
@Fritz167 I've played for a few hours it seems a lot easier than the first but don't know whether that's because it's 60fps , I was really crap at the first one and now I'm not is all I can tell you , I'm usually crap at block and riposte in games but I'm surprisingly ok in this, and I'm old 🤣 you should be ok.
@PuppetMaster what's the point of an rpg if its not at least 50hrs long , you should get lost in a good rpg for at least 70 to 100hrs in my opinion,if that's not your bag , that's fine , play some arcade indie game or something
@lazarus11 Who says RPG should be short?
And who are you telling me what to play?
I know I should probably play the first game, but I have time constraints. I watched the ten minute story recap from Warhorse’s YouTube channel, and I somewhat have an idea of the story that unfolded. For veterans, do you think I’ll be fine if I jump into KCD2 considering I watched the recap and apparently there is a lengthy background in the intro of the sequel to bring you up to speed.
Haven't heard of the 1st game, so didn't give this sequel any thought until all the rave reviews. Piqued my interest considering this a go.
I got the first game for free on Epic Games, played some of it and it just wasn't for me therefore I won't be buying the sequel, at least for now. I like to relax playing games and Kingdom Come Deliverance was rather stressful to me.

I found the first parts of the game are very faithfully giving new players (and old) an insight into what made Henry who he is, and his motivations. It is seamlessly interwoven into the fabric of the game in a satisfying way though.
@EfYI I did voted no. But why are you so mad???
I purchased the game after been on the fence about the difficulty and the time investment but I have been very pleasantly surprised with how much I'm enjoying it. I really appreciate the level of detail and choice you just don't get in other open world games. This game is for those who look for depth and challenges. I can understand there are many casual gamers who wouldn't enjoy this.
I'm just wondering if the combat still sucks, don't care what anyone says the combat in the first game is terrible especially when the ai just grapples you constantly like it's mma, played CMW, warband, chivalry 2, bannerlord and mordhau and all did combat way better than the first kcd
buying steelbook and waiting for haircut update.
@PuppetMaster
Imagine a medieval lord in his bear skin towering over you and saying to you in the most impolite manner to please leave.
That was my tone of voice (Sir Hanush of Leipa says 'Curva' a lot).
The entire point of this site is to inform you of what to play, and that extends to the comments, so that's why.
Edit: Oh, and I can recommend the game highly. I am only taking breaks to catch up on others' reactions. That is how much I have looked forward to this game.
If you are doubtful, the entire prologue is designed to get new players up to speed, so you don't need to play the first.
I just got Cyberpunk 2077 in a sale and I have a feeling this will take me a few months.
Removed - flaming/arguing
I already LARP as Just Some Guy, like, daily. Needs more explosions and ninjas.
@JustinTimberlake yeah, I've seen some footage of the combat in this where the enemies don't react in the slightest from a sword strike that would leave a man in at least two pieces. I can't with that.
@HappyGamerGirl the Eurogamer review has an oddly personal slant, and so did their review of the first game. Of course, reviews are opinions, that's not what I mean. The reviews are almost mean-spirited. Like someone was wronged or thinks they were wronged.
I'll leave this for one Asmon.
@PuppetMaster 🤣🤣
@lazarus11 🤣🤣
Tempted, but not really into western medieval RPGs.
It's a shame that a game so technically competent, which is obviously a labour of love, just has no appeal at all to me.
Games to me are escapism and not rooted in real world concerns and difficulties. I hated the combat in the first game, and there simply isn't enough difference in this one to make me think I'd like it any more..
I'm delighted they nailed it and that those who like their entertainment more grounded in reality will get such a strong game, but I'm missing nothing I want at all by passing this one by.
@Lukeaj93 absolutely recommend it, especially for q couple of quid. It's hard to start with but stick with it and it's something special. The second game up to now seems a bit more forgiving on the combat side so far.
@JustinTimberlake
"I'm just wondering if the combat still sucks, don't care what anyone says the combat in the first game is terrible ....."
From my experience KCD2 combat is MUCH better, especially at 60 fps.
Just about everything in this sequel is better than the original. You do not need to play the first game to experience KCD2. In fact, I have told my mates that are interested to jump right into KCD2 and just ignore the original.
The game is setup to give you enough back story information that you can jump right in here.
Come on folks, let's support Warhorse and get KCD2.
If you like big open worlds, I think you are going to have a fantastic time with this game.
Now... I have to get back to 1403 AD.
@LikelySatan they remove the credibility of their review when they talk about unrelated out-of-game political matters.
I’m not making a purchasing decision based on any review when a person’s political views were clearly on their mind at the time of writing. Regardless of whether the review is questionably positive or negative.
In this case they said the quiet part out loud instead of keeping quiet. A personal grudge against the developer as he has spoken out against their lack of ethics.
That was not a mistake but deliberate. The intention was to virtue signal to their peers.
The rest of their complaints were void in the sense that the game is simply not for them.
I dislike souls games as I don’t like the repetition and having my time wasted when you lose your progress. I simply wouldn’t review Elden Ring period, rather than giving it a 7/10. I certainly wouldn’t give it a 7 and simultaneously mention my personal beef with the developer.
Most criticisms of Kingdom Come are invalid anyway because they are complaining about deliberate design features for the target audience; not bad design.
Just as having to corpse run in a Souls game is a deliberate design feature, and not bad design in the eyes of the target audience. Rather it’s the entire point of the game…
Not my type of game but I appreciate what's been done with this game and how good it is for people into theses type of games
This game is everything I hoped for what the first game would be. Runs great on base PS5 in performance mode.
@KundaliniRising333 Yeah, I'm also shocked this is being given so much spotlight compared to the original. The first was a good game but also very niche, the hype surrounding this one is failing to get across how narrow the audience for this will probably actually be.
I expect a lot of disappointed players who went in blind, not because the game is bad, but because the game is not designed to be particularly approachable to casual players. (Nor should it be, to be fair, RPG with heavy sim elements is a valid genre)
@Svark I pretty much watched the recap video they uploaded to YouTube, i rage quit the first game at the runt boss fight.
Got 2 pretty much after i made my first comment, combat seems much better so i can focus on other things without worrying about running into more than one person and getting hunted down, i am now the hunter.
Game looks great, runs smooth i have only had one crash, it's pleasant and rare in the 2020's to find an expensive open world rpg that doesn't make me sick and actually peaks my interest to the point I don't wait for a sale.
