Out now on PS5 and PS4, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 bundles together three iconic PlayStation titles. Many would say it's about damn time, but we want to know if you've been eagerly awaiting these fresh ports.
While it's nice to finally have these classics on current consoles, the Master Collection's packaging is a bit of a bust. As stressed in our 8/10 Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 PS5 review, this is a "messy bundle".
"The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection bundles together three of the greatest games ever made, but does so in a convoluted manner," we wrote. "Spread across five separate apps on PS5, it can be a challenge to locate the specific version or the bonus feature you need [...] but once you sink into the PS1 original, Sons of Liberty, or Snake Eater, it's abundantly clear there's still nothing quite like Metal Gear Solid," we concluded.
So, have you snagged the Master Collection for yourself? As always, vote in our polls, and then tell us all about your plans in the comments section below.

Nah. I love these games, but played them to death over the years and no real inclination to go back to them anymore. It’s easy to just play them in my head or skim through a YouTube video. Maybe one day.
Number 2 is the best, it’s really on another level - it’s just so out there, but 1 is my favourite.
Used to love these games but with barely any effort from Konami - hard pass. Exactly the same game as on ps3. Might consider the second rumored collection of peace walker, mgs4 etc
I have it pre-ordered and it's probably sitting on the patio waiting for me. I'm excited to jump back in! SNAAAAAKE!
Metal Gear Solid 2 is potentially the greatest game of all time. That said, I think I’ll sort of wait for a sale on this and get it digitally. Ive just… played them so much, watched so much content with regards to the series, etc that I’m not in a rush. I’ll replay them again someday, I’m sure, just not any time soon.
I still boot up the PS3 every now and again so this collection doesn't offer much beyond the original one for me. Just no point
@Broosh when you see it, make sure you go ! …”just a box.”
I own these games across multiple platforms, so this is just nothing new nor of particular interest.
I plan to play them eventually, easily been over a decade since I last played any of those. 2 is my favourite and it's not even close. The only piece of media that I will genuinely use the obnoxious "you just didn't get it" when someone actively dislikes it
I replayed 1-4 (incl the HD Collection) on my PS3 just earlier in the year so I won't be picking this up anytime soon. They're all still great games though and they hold up well, though MGS4 was clearly pushing the PS3 past it's comfort levels as it really chugs at times.
While I can somewhat understand why the Master Collection is effectively just a re-release of the existing games (why remaster them only to then sell remakes later down the line?), it's still a real shame that a bit more effort wasn't put in, and £50 is a steep asking price as a result.
Metal Gear Solid is an insanely important series to me so I picked it up. I also always wanted to see the digital novels too so I'm excited to see those. I'm just glad I don't have to bust out the good ol' PS3 anymore to play...most of the series anymore.
I have only played twin snakes on the NGC as a kid and I'm kinda scared that these are gonna be too outdated to enjoy when I have no nostalgia for them.
Should have included the option “No, I’m just going to play the HD Collection”.
When I saw this collection coming out I was inspired to not buy it for the second time (as I got it on ps3), but to get a fancy emulator instead. I bought the games in thier original form and in the collection once, I'm not going to do it every generation!
I'd play an actual full ps5 remake like Bluepoint did for Demons Souls. But other than that, I don't want to revisit games that look exactly the same as they did.
Sometime later. There are too many other games catching my time right now.
@thetraditional
2 and 3 do run at 60fps on PS4 in this master collection, and these ports are based on Bluepoint's 2011 remaster, so they're not any worse than those. Not sure what lead you to believe otherwise.
@thetraditional I find it funny that you don't know anything about the stuff that you hate
Where is the "I played the ever living s*** out of all of these games and have no interest in giving Konami any more of my money" option?
But MGS is GOAT-tier. Please remake it. Please.
I'm new to Metal Gear Solid, but I've picked up this collection. I'm excited to find out why people love this series.
I will buy it.but im chilling with other games.word up son
I have never played these games; but have always wanted to and waited for a collection like this to jump in.
I’m going to wait till Black Friday.
"They're the same games as before!"
Good! 😁
Too remake obsessed these days, remakes can be fun, looking forward to Delta, but I don't appreciate them coming at the expense of the original """outdated""" versions.
Imagine if you couldn't watch classic movies on blu-ray or streaming, because remakes exist for them, and who would ever want to watch those old yucky versions?
Why the hell can I not play all the PS1 Resident Evil games on modern platforms?
It’s Amazing how good MGs2 looks. A shame they didn’t put the remake of 1 on this. It’s almost unplayable
Very glitchy
Clearly a desperate Konami Cash-Grab of Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece’s!!
Konami is Nothing without Hideo Kojima.
just waiting till Friday to play.
i still have the HD Collection and a working PS3, so im in no hurry to get this, but will
I love the series, grew up with them, but I would only pick this collection up when it's for a cheap price. I still have all of my original copies on their respective consoles and even the HD collection on the PS3 so I'm not in any sort of rush.
I'll rather replay my PS3 collection.
Not at this point in time. @Kyleforrester87 Kind of feel similar to you with haveing played them multiple time already. Hehe
With all the masterpieces releasing one after the other I really don't have the time nor the money for this release which is to say the least a sub-par release with little to no enhancements. They should have at least optimized the experience instead of giving us what we already had on PS3
No effort from them = no interest from me.
I played the MGS HD Collection on the PS3 11 years ago (man I'm old...), so this version isn't for me at all.
If there's a second volume, I'll definitely consider purchasing it, but otherwise I have no interest in the current Collection.
Not interested until it gets heavily discounted.
And MGS1 is the best imo.
Just a shame it's such a barebones port but good to have it on PS5.
Assuming there is a VOL 2 coming that will be more interesting
I don't know why the waste time and resources on older games so often. If you are going to do it then do it justice and revamp something about them. There are tons of games out there and very little time.
I cherish the memory of playing these games when they released.
I wont spoil those memories by playing this bare bones cash grab.
For those that never got the chance, I believe you'd have a better experience on an emulator if you have a PC...
I am going to pick these games up, but not yet. Still working on platinuming Spider-Man 2. Then I've got Alan Wake II on Friday. So it's going to be a bit before I'm ready for these. Though I do want to platinum MGS1.
Need a MSG4 port to PS5! It's super annoying that it's stuck on the PS3
I have the HD collection on vita and the psp MGS4 and MGS on psone..all playable on vita...so no Konami just no.
