Look, you're probably sick of reading about Skyrim Anniversary Edition, and frankly, we're a bit sick of writing about it. But come on, we do these 'did you buy' polls for every big release — and it doesn't get much bigger than a new version of Skyrim!
Anniversary Edition arrives ten whole years after Skyrim's original PS3 launch, and you know what? We've actually enjoyed playing it again. Running at 60 frames-per-second in 4K resolution, it's the best Skyrim has ever been on PlayStation consoles, and the bundled Creation Club content refreshes the open world adventure quite nicely.
In our 8/10 Skyrim Anniversary Edition PS5 review, we concluded: "The PC community's mind-blowing commitment to modding is something that Skyrim on consoles will never have, but if you just want to boot up your PlayStation and get lost in what is now a classic fantasy world, Skyrim Anniversary Edition is the best way to do it."
So, did you buy Skyrim Anniversary Edition? Maybe you upgraded from the Special Edition? Let us know in our polls, and then level up in the comments section below.

Holding out for a possible psvr 2 port.
If they put the creation club content on the disc I would have.
I will wait for a very cheap sale or I will get is second hand.
@Chuckiev79 lol one thing I think about games like this, and not in a critical way I mean a practical way, how long could you actually play for with all that sword swinging lol. You’d surely have to play using a controller and the VR headset hey
I’ve tripled-dipped on Skyrim already (PS3, special edition PS4 and the Switch one), and as I’ve still to properly get into it, I’m not going to pay for this new one. Still; happy with what I have and any newcomers (if there are any!) will no doubt enjoy 😊
Haven't play since the PS3 days. I'm looking forward to picking this up again... as soon as it goes on sale. Probably the last Elder Scrolls game I'll have access to. (Thanks MS)
Platted the vr. The game isn't special enough to warrant another play through.
I’m noticing far more pop in on PS5 than I remember on the the PS4 Pro version. Also, I’ve had some nasty frame rate issues. At one point I exited a cave and the frame rate fell into single digits for about a full forty seconds. Thank goodness I wasn’t being attacked by a frost troll or something! Technical issues aside it’s so wonderful playing this game again. It’s likely my favorite game of all time. It’s certainly the one I’ve sunken the most hours into.
People can complain all they want that the game has been released multiple times but 1) the PS3 version was so poorly done that the PS4 remastered version was a requirement, and 2) the PSVR version is great for those who want it, and 3) this version is a FREE upgrade and is only $20 if you want some extra goodies. I don’t understand the hate.
The CC content doesn't really grab my attention so for now I'm just sticking with the Special Edition for PS5. Already platted the PS4 version a couple years back and planning to do the same for the PS5 one eventually.
Nope not giving another penny towards this cash grab
Nope - sticking to PS5 special edition upgrade and the 100s of mods. Far better than this
Considering I had the original game. Traded it in years ago and spent like 8 quid buying the special edition on ps store sale. 20 is a bit steep for the anniversary add on lol
@kingbreww a long time. I can easily fence for an hour or more so why not play a VR game with swords for a long time. It’ll be less effort.
I've actually never played Skyrim. I thought about it when it first released on PS3 but heard it was a glitch fest and passed. Haven't looked into it since.
Would love to hear from those who have played over 1000 hours 😅 great effort. My wife would have divorced me. She was sick of the sight of it and i 'only' put 180 hours in
I'll stick with the superior xbox special edition version I think ,with the right mods it looks better than the ps5 version
@Rob_230 I've been playing it on and off for years for various consoles and vr ,I refuse to buy this one as its a step backwards compared to the xbox one x version
@Telekill if you like open world rpg’s it’s a really special game. You will easy spend 150+ hours with the DLC missions as well. And enjoy yourself the whole time. It’s one of those games you get lost in and cannot stop playing. If you don’t love this genre though obviously it’s nothing you’ll miss 👌
I think I will wait to buy the expansion in a good sale at another time. The cranky and aged character rigging animation and the combat gameplay in Skyrim makes it hard for me to go back to it.
I prefer games with a more immersive combat experience like the souls-like games. I believe this is future and Bethesda should study it closely for TES6.
Just upgraded my special edition to ps5 version. Should be good enough.
I might get the anniversary edition for 20 buck on PS4 when I finish Far Cry 6...big maybe. Only because I'm feeling nostalgic and some of those new creation mods look cool.
No plans to buy the upgrade just for some official mods. Will just get free upgrade.
I am right in thinking that the Anniversary edition is available on the PS4 too? And that being the case, any chance we could get an idea of any improvements over the Special Edition on the 4?
Needs an option saying "Yes, but not until it's heavily discounted"
I beat Skyrim back on PS3, dumped over 100 hour hours and got the Platinum. I never played either DLC since they came out waaaay late, and at that point I really didn't want to get rehooked by it. It's a good game that I really enjoyed, but I have no interest in ever revisiting it.
Waiting for the PS7 version with new horse armour
Played it when it originally came out and once I’d got over how awesome the world they created was, became super bored of the repetitive, non-event dungeon crawling.
@Rob_230 does me who has played the game over 200 hours for different platforms count? i'm not married so that helps a bit LOL
but yeah only way i would touch this game again if there was a psvr 2 port or something, i wouldn't even bother with this on pc because it will just break my mods anyway
For all you who bought the Anniversary Edition, I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee.
I couldn’t help myself.
@huyi haha yeah, i would totally play this again on VR 2 if its compatible. For now, i think i have had my fill
I have a friend who literally starts up a new build every couple of months. I am not aure i could face the opening scene that often, but its an impressive achievement that the game remains so beloved so many years later.
Do I have mug stamped on my forehead?!
Installed it, played it for 10 minutes, told myself I cannot do this again. Deleted it 10 minutes later
I played it when it was first released years ago and that is enough for me.
I've never played Skyrim before. I do plan to upgrade my PS4 Special Edition copy to the PS5 version though.
I doubt I'll upgrade. But I've spent over 10000 hrs on it. I am not proud of it...
I played a bit, maybe 10 to 20 minutes. After people told me it's a great game. But, it's not my cup of tea. I don't like any other Bethesda games either. I'm more into Japanese rpgs.
@HUD_Wayne How much of an improvement is it from Special to Anniversary on the Pro?
Tried asking on here but too many people blinded by the glare coming of the white sides of their monoliths.
I'll wait for the next anniversary edition !!!
I’m loving it so far, even if I’ve already played it to death over the last 10 years. The creation club content is great as well as it gives me new stuff to do but doesn’t stop me getting trophies 🙈.
@kingbreww You would be surprised. When you're in the moment and bad guys are all around, you only feel the desire to live, and vanquish your enemies.
Buy it again for the 5th time!? Don't be ab... of course I did. Got the upgrade. Started a new game. Had wanted to for ages but decided to wait for this. Enjoying myself as usual. Might actually finish the main quest for once...
oh hell yeahs it was an upgrade on xbox , playstation and pc . started a new campaign Kjoki Windcaller (new guy i made yes i get really in to elder Scrolls lol)shall lay waste to every dragon ,dragonpriest , draugr etc lots to name lol
@Telekill That's every Elder Scrolls and Fallout game. It will undoubtedly also apply to Starfield. Some Bethesda studios like Arkane put out polished products, but there are other studios, typically with Bethesda in their name, that put out some dumpster fires.
