Regular readers will know that we have our own list of Best Final Fantasy Games here on Push Square. It includes just about every Final Fantasy title released on PlayStation platforms to date, and it's all user rated. The thing is, we want to refresh the list with the recently released Pixel Remasters — and so we want you to give each game a score so that we can add them in.
All you need to do is click the star icon next to each title and pick a number. Once we've got enough ratings, we'll add the Pixel Remasters to the existing list and republish it in the near future, replacing the original PlayStation releases with these broadly superior versions.
So without further ado, rate Final Fantasy I through VI, and then tell us all about your favourites in the comments section below.

I am really enjoying these games!
FFVI totally holds up. It's a total masterpiece of a game.
I'd forgotten how laugh out loud funny it is too 😁
The first two are dated but strangely addicting and I think this port makes them more enjoyable. V still quite the hidden gem
I would argue for V above the rest; while the narrative may not hit as many high points as VI, it is more consistent than VI (which frequently dips in quality due to limitations of the time).
V also has the best gameplay of the bunch.
No physical release, so didn't buy them
One interesting thing about FFVI is the way the espers give bonus stats points. it encourages the veterans to try to go underleveled until very late in-game for Raiden's godlike speed stat bonus.
I would not do this on a first experience, but it is very satisfying to try.
I haven’t managed to play any of them yet, and as I haven’t given half of them a fair shake I couldn’t really order them. I expect 4 and 6 would be at the top though, and I have played those.
I don’t really have any nostalgia for either of them, although funny enough I look back fondly at playing the re-releases on PS1 which I think is now longer than the time between then, and the original releases!
Through 2023 optics I guess I’d give FF6 a 7/10, and FF4 a 6/10.
That’s a nice rating system thing you got going on, too. First time I have actually engaged with it. Just gave Dragon Age Inquisition a 1 hahahaha.
@Browny agreed! V over VI these days
@LocalPenguin Definitely. VI is a timeless classic, and dare I say, a perfect game.
@Browny The story in V is pretty forgettable overall, despite a few tear jerker moments. But yeah, the gameplay in V is SOLID. The job class system is top notch. In my opinion it is also the most challenging out of all of them.
No opinion, waiting for dirt cheap sales before buying them.
First time playing 3 & 5, really enjoying them. 1 wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from memory. 2 is still a slog, even with the boost. Haven't gotten to 6 yet but loved it when I played it years ago.
4 is still a gem of a game
Judging by eBay, they must have made about 10 copies for PS4. Switch physical seems a lot more available though.
FF3j and 5 were such a big deal at the time. Not sure if these pixel remasters can help without that context, but personally I'm happy with them and that they refreshed all of them for more longevity.
