It was Ubisoft's turn in the summer spotlight with Ubisoft Forward, and now the showcase has come to a close. As expected, we saw the likes of Assassin's Creed Mirage, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and plenty more.
While it was a pretty predictable run of games for the French publisher, we want to know where it ranks for you lot among the rest of this year's big blowouts. Did Ubisoft play a blinder, or did it fall flat? Were you expecting more from the show, or did it go above and beyond? Incredible lineup. Can't really say any more than that. Looking forward to Mirage and now Outlaws. Looks sweet!
If it wasn't for star wars I would have said Terrible
Amazing games. Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin's Creed Mirage and Star Wars Outlaws are MUST PLAY titles for me!!
Didn’t think it was that good, but got to see Mirage gameplay finally and Star Wars looks fun. PoP isn’t too shabby, either. Ubi cringe is alive and well.
@practicein2021 Capcom has something tonight, RGG in a couple days. Nothing as far as Nintendo goes.
@practicein2021
Capcom is in a few hours and then THQ Nordic has one on August 11th.
For games shown with Avatar, Mirage and Outlaws all looking decent it was a good. As for the 'presentation', it provided all that is not missed from old E3.
That was Ubisofts best show in a long time, quite a few huge games that could turn things around for them.
"Was Ubisoft Forward 2023 Princely or Just Pants?"
There was a real missed opportunity to have "princely" and "pants" in the poll.
@MayaMousavi Sargon was king of the Akkadians, precursors to the Persian Empire.
I think it was solid. Probably the best presentation so far, considering they all had actual live gameplay.
I need to watch properly. It was classic ubisoft to open with just dance tho. I will say however that Avatar exceeded expectations (though im not sure about the choice to make it first person) and Star Wars looked fantastic. I want to watch the trailers for prince of persia and assassins creed properly though.
Really like how Ubisoft do these, you hear from the devs so it's not just trailer after trailer for way too long... The gameplay trailers and even breakdowns at the end were great.
Bummed that the China Assassin's Creed is a mobile game still but apart from that it was a really solid lineup and show. Better than Sony's that's for sure...
That was a better show than I expected. They have me interested in 4 of their games (SW, AC, Avatar and PoP).
Mirage aside i thought it was cringey mess.
E3 was dope this year
@practicein2021
Honestly it's just Capcom.
Hopefully it's just not Dragons Dogma 2 and we get a trailer for monster hunter world 2 and pragmata?? I can wish.
@kyleforrester87
it's the second worst "e3" I've experienced. Can't remember which one was the worst one. I think the year where square enix had the best showcase (Ff7 and avengers lol).
Bethesda showed doom and that was it for bethesda.
This is a proof that modern gamers have low standards.
I put poor but thats mainly for presentation. It just sucks. The preshow was cringe with the paid streamers and i just hate the format of prerendered, talking, then gameplay. Just show the gameplay with commentary.
Well... the only decent thing they had was outlaws. The rest was the usual ubisoft recipe of trash.
Is it just me or do Ubisoft third person games have a kind of jank to them? Mirage, Outlaws and even Motorfest didn’t seem very next gen. Are all these also coming out on PS4?
It was pretty solid. Better than expected from them. Didn’t expect to see Jet Set Radio at all in this and I’ll take more of the series in any way we can get at this point. Already have Mirage preordered as well.
Star wars looked better than expected and Ass Creed looked like a return to form.
@practicein2021 Xbox has their extended, less hype but possibly still interesting,
Showcase tomorrow as well.
Disappointed there wasn’t a far cry reveal. Yes, really. Maybe avatar scratches that itch, but not a big fan of the movies.
Prince of Persia looks brilliant
When Ubi has a better showcase than Sony…
I’m watching at the moment and it’s ok - I do prefer this format to the Sony one - but why aren’t the people who are introducing the games speaking like normal people? They’ve all been very stiff and awkward so far. They shanty was nice though 😂
@twinspectre90 also that some people are just never happy
It blows Sonys and ms showcases out of the water for star wars alone,that looks outstanding ,finally the ps4 is being left behind and we can see what the ps5 can actually do
@K1LLEGAL its usually just a lot of chatting and back slapping
Its a pity you there CEO is a abuser.
No new Petz and Imagine games from Ubisoft.
Absolutely terrible showcase.
I'm very impressed with what Ubisoft put together. Avatar, Prince of Persia, blood dragon anime and most of all Outlaws... great stuff!
Still funny how they always open with just dance. I know they sell well and have a following but the people who watch these showcases aren't the that crowd.
@Icey664 I kinda agree … and I voted good just off the back of it!
@naruball How should one be happy with mediocrity? Seriously they showed more of the same. I bet both Avatar and StarWars have microtransaction and maybe season pass, on top of crap they are gonna release a broken mess. People will complain "Ubisoft sucks", and if this happens I'm going to blame the "Gamers" that continues to support Ubicrap.
@twinspectre90
I mean even if Avatar and Star Wars don't turn out great...which I doubt as both look very good...Assassin's Creed looks like a great return to form and Prince of Persia looks absolutely fantastic.
It's okay if Ubisoft games just don't appeal to you but there's no need to throw shade at folks that do like them. We all just want to have a good time at the end of the day.
@twinspectre90 one person's mediocrity is another person's masterpiece. Opinions tend to work like that. As for MTX, season passes, etc, they never bothered me, because I always ignore them. I get the main game and I enjoy it without worrying what "I'm missing out".
@naruball See? Yall want to pay for less, when in the past you got more for less. Low Standard as I said before.
Masterpieces? Don't make me laugh.
@Korgon It is not throwing shades at people, it is the fact that more people complain about Ubisoft games and yet still excited about Ubisoft games, sometimes I think if you all enjoyed being screwed by the same publishers you all bashed in the past.
@twinspectre90
Well you know, things change. Capcom was incredibly unpopular for a time and fans let them know about it. But lately they have been one of the best publishers in the business.
Ubisoft has certainly had their ups and downs over the years but they had a great showing here. Sure we don't know for sure if the games shown will deliver or not but people are just judging based off what they showed and...yeah it looks good for the most part! I definitely wouldn't call everything they showed mediocre at the very least.
@Korgon I'm not judging based on what they showed, I'm judging based on what they alreadt released, which means I'm judging them based on facts.
I don't think Ubisoft understands like Capcom did, I'm sure they will continue to release crap.
@Korgon @tameshiyaku @ATaco @KaijuKaiser @GodofCapcom @AyanamiReign @Rob_230 @UltimateOtaku91 @freddquadros @daveofduncan
I also loved Ubisoft's showcase. I'm mega excited to play these 4 games! Especially Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, since it releases on my birthday .
Assassin's Creed: Mirage - October 12, 2023
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - December 07, 2023
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - January 18, 2024
Star Wars: Outlaws - TBA 2024
@KidRyan Oh yeah, I want it all!!
@freddquadros I sadly don't see myself paying full price for Mirage though, I'm still on AC3 in the series.
Definitely next year during Black Friday though ^_^.
