It's been one whole week since the release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The historical adventure was met with rave reviews — it's one of the highest-rated RPGs of the last few years — and it seems to have gone down exceptionally well with most players.
From our perspective, it's one of those situations where a somewhat niche, but well-loved game has given way to a much improved sequel — and in turn, that sequel appears to have made a much bigger impact on the gaming landscape. You love to see it.
We love to see it, by the way, as we awarded the title an extremely rare Push Square 10/10.
"In daring to deliver its singular vision for a game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 transports even the most grizzled genre veterans back to a time of truly immersive video game experiences," is what we wrote in our full Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 PS5 review.
"Challenging, uncompromising, and thoroughly engrossing, it's in a league almost entirely of its own," we concluded.
Indeed, if you're a fan of rather hardcore role-playing games, and you've got a penchant for grounded, historical settings, then we can't recommend this one enough.
But that's plenty of gushing from us — we want to know what you think of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Give the RPG a review score of your own in our poll, and then dare to explain yourself in the comments section below.

Easiest 10 I've given 👍
10/10 one of the best RPGs of the modern era.
My GOTY 🔥
What a Masterpiece to start 2025
Still playing but easily 9 or 10/10.
Masterpiece gaming.
It's quite something to be playing a game for the first time that I'm pretty sure will be my favorite game ever. Fortunately savoring it slowly is part of it.
I'm not done but man it rocks so far. It is close to Witcher level in terms of exploration, story and side quests. So hard to put down when life gets in the way
I can’t really judge it yet. I’m only a few hours after the prologue and I’m struggling quite a bit with the game and progressing in a meaningful way. With that said, I know once I get my bearings and a grasp on how the mechanics of the game works, this game will shape up to be one of my all time favorites. As of now, an 8/10 will have to suffice, but it can easily become a 10/10.
Still too early to really say but i can easily it seeing it being a GOTY contender for me. Massive step up from the first game, incredible open world and visually it looks stunning on the Pro and performs really well. So far though i'm itching to say 10/10.
Didnt bought it yet, because concerttickets and saving up for a ps5 for my oldest but next month I Will buy it. Cant wait for it and those who have it, enjoy!
51 hours deep and I still haven't gone to a certain wedding. Just roaming the beautiful countryside with Mutt, picking up odd jobs and occasionally sorting bandits and poachers out.
The highest praise I can give it so far is that it's like playing RDR2 in first person.
🎶 Henry, our hero Henry, the fellow who helps his fellow man. 🎶
I'm struggling with the learning curve 10 hours in, but I think I need to stop playing it like I'm a combat powerhouse and just take into account its mechanics. I've been more succesful just sneaking, or having the bandit following elsewhere and then go back into their camp and take what I need instead of engaging in direct combat. But it's kind of necessary to "unlearn" what I have learned after years of gaming.
About 12 hours in and I am absolutely obsessed. 10/10 so far.
@Frmknst are you a real person?
@Casco make sure you go and learn the master strike if you are having a tough time, it makes combat a lot more forgiving
@Frmknst and what is not immersive about this world? Subjectively Poor game? Why would you rate like that?
Somewhere between 8-10 but I dunno yet. It's great though
@Frmknst Objectively its a 10 and subjectively its also a 10, see i can do that as well
@Logonogo I think this is what I need to do. I did a few of the combat training, but in order to learn the master strike, I have to challenge Tom Cat to a duel, but he requires you to have actual armor. I do not have this yet, and it’s quite frustrating.
I will know when I’m buying it tomorrow after the State of Play! 😅
I almost caved today, not much longer now…
They did good with this one!
@REALAIS I think he's saying that it's "too immersive" which would actually mean that objectively it's an 11, as they went above and beyond their brief 😉
There's too many Pokemon in this pokemon game. There's too accurate a portrayal of war in this world war 2 game. There's too many football players in this football game. There's too much immersion and role playing in this immersive RPG! 👀
10/10 after nearly 50 hours, and I haven't even got that far into the 'main' storyline, which I'm not even following too much tbh...just enjoying the quests, the tasks, the character progression and the sandbox.
Special shout out to the thievery - breaking into homes and robbing them of everything, including of course the key to their 'very hard' lockpickable chest, never gets old. Nor does chatting to and then killing randoms on the trails between locations. And the law system works properly - no materialising cops here - if no-one sees you, and you don't do anything dumb with any stolen stuff you take, then you get away with it. I love that.
It's like the best parts of Witcher 3, Skyrim and Dragon's Dogma, all rolled into one (minus dragons!)
I gave it a ten, i was ready to give it a 2 during the whom the bell tolls quest , but I persevered and finally did it after about 3hrs ,seriously though I'd say it would take you 20 minutes if you actually knew what your supposed to be doing, worst quest in the history of quests 😂 anyway ,I'm all sorted now so back to exploring 😁
@Kraven level up mutt he's great in combat, i found a rusted chest plate early on , still wearing it after 95hrs , i was quite shocked at 95hrs but I've been off work for a couple days and played nothing else.
Haven’t played it. Nor the first one. But I like to jump on bandwagons, so…10/10.
@Casco if there's more than 1 I run away keep one busy with mutt and get a couple of shots in with the crossbow, then in for the kill, it usually only takes one combo to finish them off, also if youre on horseback there's a skill that lowers there stats, if you rear your horse up near them before a fight.
Admittedly I've been a pretty vocal critic of the first game. I felt hustled paying full price at release for a game that, IMO, was not worth a AAA price and not ready for release period. Once it was stable and I was able to play it, I was bored to death. I felt their commitment to real-life came at the expense of fun, and going into the sequel I was certain I would never give it a chance.
But reading how everyone is loving it so much, I'm actually thinking about GameFlying it now. Or if anyone I know still uses discs I'll try to borrow it. I'm super apprehensive about giving these guys more of my cash though after my experience with the first game.
Is there anybody out there who is giving this a 9 or a 10 that HATED the first game? The more people there are in that camp, the more confident I would be honestly. Cause hate is a strong word...and I hated the first game.
This game is fantastic so many options and so many things to account for it's so damn interesting
@HappyGamerGirl one of my favorite gaming memories ever is heading to the Imperial City Market District at night in Oblivion, and breaking into and robbing every store I could before the sun came up. Those were great times.
I'm 51 years old, and this brings me back to Skyrim (obviously a LOT different) in many ways. The simple navigation bar at the top of the screen. Not having a million blinking icons to 'visit'. After 4-6 hours though, I think I have the equivalent of $6. Gotta start brewing and selling potions tonight!
@Kraven hmmm yeah I am not sure, I fought him right after getting Mutt and did not have any sort of special armor to my recollection, did not know that was a requirement
@Logonogo indeed. I wish a day has 48hours lol
@lazarus11 Is there an easier way to get Mutt? There is a trophy for not killing any animals, which I’m trying to do, and I can’t get the wolves away from the guy in the tree, other than being unarmed and fighting them.
Bought it o saturday after reading the review. Never played the 1st one, man so far its brilliant about 15hrs in and havent done much to be honest just getting to grips with everything. Combat is quite hard but fair, slowly getting to grips with it. But yea dont regret buying it, did think it would be to much hard work but its not too bad. Will give it another good blast over weekend when i get time
There are some clear glitchy and janky issues, but it's a solid 9/10
Definitely a early game of the year contender.and yes henry is still hungry😄.word up son
@playstation1995 I just take my knife out and slaughter one of the regenerating cows and smoke or dry the meat...keeps even Hungry Henry going for ages! Even better, the towns don't seem to give a damn about you doing it unless they're stood right next to you.
It’s a solid 8, but there is plenty of room for improvement in the general all-round clunkiness and grind.
Fans of inventory management can add 1.
@HappyGamerGirl. Or you can rob the villagers for food.couple bread fill henry.word up son
Feeling incredibly validated by this poll
Don't know. I didn't like the first one and haven't seen anything that looked interesting for me in this one.
@Kraven lullaby tainted meat? That would be my guess for pacifism regarding animals.
Drop a bunch of meat laced with sleeping potion without creating aggro and see what happens.
It works for guard dogs, that I know.
I’m still trying to figure everything out. Struggling with combat and navigation and… well, everything… But, I’m enjoying the struggle.
This is going to be one of those games that I either give up on after 20+ hours or it will take over my life 😂
Also, loving the dice game but I swear it’s fixed!
Haven’t played a single second of it but have given it a 10, as it’s rare to get games this full of content and screaming top quality in the AAA space.
@SterlingEyes You need better dice. The dice you start with are pretty bad so you need to buy, steal or find better dice. You notice how your opponent might have different looking dice to you? That's why it feels fixed as those dice basically have special effects, like one dice for instance will always give you an even number. It took me a while to work this out in the first game.
I didn't vote because I've been too busy working to play it (I don't even have my horse back yet), but I'm liking it better than the first so far. I gave up on that one (mostly because I was just bad at it).
5/10, I enjoyed the back half of the game decently, but the first 20-25 hours were a slog and I found a lot of the experience to be frustrating, janky, uneven, etc. Hard for me to recommend. Only for the most patient of gamers.
@Ravix Thanks for the heads up!
On a side note, I decided to start a fresh play through. I’m very happy that I did. Although I lost a lot of progress, I ultimately discovered more than I did the first time around. In fact, just starting out, I discovered an entire marksman outfit with a crossbow. And a dagger. So that’s going to help me exponentially. I’m excited.
@Kraven good stuff. I think I'm about ready to go to the wedding after 1 week with the game 😁 although I keep thinking "one more sidequest"
I also want to work out if disguises will work outside of specific quest structures, as the first had disguises, but limited to certain quests. But I've found various von bergow gear and finally a helmet with a visor! So I'm tempted to just see what happens if I wear it and go back to the castle first.
I haven’t played this yet, but anyone who gives this a 1 is either touched in the head or has never played a video game before. Just for all of the different systems in this game it’s worth a few points more than that at least.
I’m itching to play this but it’ll have to wait a bit, something polls like this aren’t making any easier. I’ve been enjoying the first though!
@Ravix I think he’s pointing to the many systems and mechanics that are a boring drag.
Very early on you make a horseshoe. It’s not realistic. There is practically no skill to it. It’s therefore not immersive.
It is in fact a time consuming drag when a more “gamey” mmo type system where you just click a button would improve the pacing and let you get on with the good stuff.
That’s just one early example. Even earlier was alchemy, which was fun the first time but dull as dishwater after.
I’d give it an 8 as the pacing and fun factor is dragged down by this false narrative of bring realistic, immersive and hardcore.
Oh yeah and dogs that can tank a dozen hits from a razor sharp sword and then kill you… Give over!

As i am full on fantasy/medieval rpgs (there are way too many of those) i won't be getting KCD anytime soon.
@DennisReynolds I knew it was fixed! Oh boy, some heads are going to roll! 🤣
10/10 for me.
It is up there with The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 1+2, Kingdom Come Deliverance and Skyrim in my book.
I love the game so far, but Kingdom Come 2 will be updated and expanded for many years I hope, and therefore it will become even better.
Love the first few hours so far but can't tell how bugged it is yet. Has anyone else met a villager heading towards the first town covered in blood? You stop and talk to him and he rewards you for doing absolutely nothing. Hope these bugs are few and far between.
Easiest 10 I've ever given.
@Kraven I know you can poison meat maybe make a knockout potion and put it near the wolves, I dont know if that's possible though, you could lead somebody else there and get them to kill them , but then you'd have to deal with them, or punch them in the face until they run off.
@PaulCapp I've had a few graphical bugs, neck seams on women with low cut dresses seam to be a regular occurrence, ive also had lightning effect lighting up the area with no lightning ha ha, but when you consider everything the game is doing at the same time, it's a miracle it runs as good as it does on console.
9/10 for me. I can't stop thinking about it.
Voice acting is brilliant for the most part but the game is slightly let down by the odd bad voice actor, especially those with atrocious accents, which really breaks immersion for me. Innkeeper Betty's attempt at a Northern accent just sounds Jamaican and there have been some absolutely terrible Scottish accents too. I am also not a fan of how some characters have multiple voice actors which is incredibly jarring.
That being said, I am really enjoying the world and the pace of it. Find combat incredibly challenging at the moment but hope I can figure it out and get a little better!
I don't think I will play it, it doesn't seem to be my kind of thing, but I am here for the memes that will definitely come out of it. It does seem like that kind of game.
I fluctuated between 9 and 10 (I feel like stealth sections or lock picking on pad still could be better) but overall the experience is so great, I'm giving it 10.
@DennisReynolds if i see any decent dice that my opponent uses, I follow them to see where they live, then break in overnight and take them, along with their clothes and everything else. And yep, they emerge the next day wearing rags if you do that! I sometimes just kill them...then they don't emerge.
I accidently slept in wrong bed at the herb woman's, and was so annoyed at being woken and shouted at a couple of hours later that I beat her to death with a club and took and threw her body in the nearby river. Now her house is my house.
This was after I rescued her daughter, so unfortunately for her she suffered the same fate when the noise woke her up.
Got a nice surprise when I took her keys and opened their chest though. Loads of many different potions, along with the recipes for them. I have no need to do the alchemy anymore but still, nice of them to leave all that for me, right?!
This game.... 🙂
@HappyGamerGirl Haha lol 😆
