Tekken 8 has been out for about a week now on PS5, so you've had plenty of time to play though its insane story mode and get smashed to bits by shockingly powerful players online. And so we simply have to ask: how highly would you rate Bandai Namco's newest brawler?
Without wanting to sway your opinion too much, we gave the game an 'excellent' 9/10 in our Tekken 8 PS5 review. Easily one of the generation's best fighting games so far, we called it "a modern fighting game masterclass". We concluded: "There's no fighting game series quite like Tekken, and Tekken 8 is the franchise at its bombastic best."
But what review score would you give Tekken 8? Score it for yourself in our poll, and then explain your stance in the comments section below.

It’s excellent. SF6 was one of my most played games last year and I thought there’s no way Tekken would top it. Still too early to say but it might do just that for me.
It's a 10/10 for me. Best Tekken so far!
A 10 from me, it looks amazing and plays brilliantly and not only possibly the most in depth fighter but also one of the easiest to get into. The Arcade Quest is basically a tutorial in all but name, which introduces the various mechanics and teaches you moves along the way. Then with the story mode, the character stories, Tekken Ball and the excellent jukebox system, if you have any interest in fighting games, this is an easy recommendation
9 for me. It's definitely one of the best fighters in recent years, just sheer fun to play. I've decided to invest time in learning a few combos too which really helps the game!
Currently 9, if they can invite Tifa or Clive, I will give it a 10.
Best fighter this Gen in my opinion. Other then a stripped down cosmetic side compared to T6/T7 (though still far better then what SF6 and MK1 offers) its pretty much faultless.
8 was a great game, I think I prefer 7 though as it was more of a celebration of the series and dripping in nostalgia
I haven't played it yet, but I'll still give it a 9 for how cool they made Yoshimitsu.
Best fighting game out there and it isn't even a competition imo. Just fun, fast paced, good visuals, better characters...it's almost perfect. If they increase the roster like they did with 7 it will be their biggest masterpiece.
As a fan since 2 10/10 it feels like a giant apology for Tekken 7 😅. In all seriousness it's amazing
@Vivisapprentice How was 7 dripping in nostalgia? It had a subpar campaign, a decent if dull treasure mode to unlock cosmetics and nothing else beyond the online side. The fact T8 bought back Jun who hasn't been in a mainline Tekken game since T2 already puts the nostalgia factor up above T7.
10/10, easily. My favorite Tekken since 5 and one of the best in the series. We'll see how it evolves over time, never know what can change in future updates but as long as Namco doesn't do anything crazy, this could be the best fighting game of the gen, even ahead of Street Fighter 6 which I also really like.
The story mode is really good and the high light of the game! Best one yet I think. Really loved the customization options as well.
The fighting is far too easy if you use l1, and I felt like a lot of the gameplay was built around using rage when the right animation hits, and the animation is the same for every character which made it all far too easy.
The platinum was also too easy, took me 8 hours without boosting.
With that said, this is one of those games I'll play whenever I got people over. Entertainment factor is through the roof. Great characters, stages and music.
My favourite fighting game thus far. A 9.5/10 for me
I voted 9 but honestly I'd give it a 10 if they added just a few QoA features... that honestly probably don't matter to most players.
Namely, for those running streams for online tournaments, inviting people your player match session can become a chore sometimes.
It's also a little early to speak of balance (but there aren't any clear big problems).
Otherwise, nothing is missing here.
It finally gave the series the generational leap that I really wasn't getting from 7. The fighting feels buttery smooth, it looks so good, the load times are lightning fast, the online works fantastic, it has a relatively strong (and large) starting roster.
The customization features do feel a bit gutted, I still could do without the rage super moves and team battles are still missing for whatever reason but it is nonetheless a net positive for sure.
I'm gonna say it's a 9/10, quite possibly the best Tekken.
It's exquisite.
I also never thought I'd see the day where Tekken did a cinematic story mode better than Mortal Kombat.
I love it but I can't seem to consistently do diagonals. That completely ruins your ability to play certain characters. I'm sure I didn't have this problem with previous Tekkens on previous Playstations. I have a Hori Fighting Commander controller which I tried after the Dualsense and that was even worse. I tested it and it seems that you have to be really precisely diagonal - a bit off, while still being blatantly diagonal, and that game reads it as, say, left or down. It'd be nice if they let you adjust that - the threshold between, say, left, down-left, and down.
@BIG3 L1 you mean the special combo stuff? Yeah anyone using that online against any half decent player is giving that player a free win because it heavily limits what you can actually do as you basically lose access to 85% of the move list. I'm not the best player far from it but i've yet lose to someone relying on that crutch.
Best Tekken yet, 9/10 easy. Best fighter this generation yet.
It's a perfect 10 for me. It's exactly what I want from a Tekken game. I even ordered a Hori Tournament stick because I love the game so much.
Im curious as to who is giving it a 1/10
Right now, I’m giving it an 8. All I have done for the most part is mess around with arcade quest and some online matches. And of course played much of training mode to practice combos. I’ve been enjoying it. I’m sure I would give it a higher rating once I put in time for the story, and character stories.
I've voted 9 because I'm getting my flat booty kicked in online ranked but it's genuinely the energy kick the series needed. I've loved every instalment I've played since the 90s but this feels so good to play
I dont really like Tekken. Find it too difficult to remember the more in depth combos and far too many moves for each character. I just dont get the games like i do a fighter like MK or SF🤷♂️. Soooooo what did i do? Thats right, went and brought Tekken 8 and boy is it good. Im actually starting to get the hang of it albeit im not that good. I started off playing as Law and although i only know the same 2 combos its actually winning me matches and im actually enjoying it. I havnt voted as ive only played it for about 4 hours but its damn good at easing you in and introducing you to the buttons, combos etc. Really good fun. Im surprised.
