Update []: Hundreds of votes have been tallied, and the results are in... Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is Push Square's official Game of the Month for February 2025!
Here are the top PS5 games of last month, as voted by our readers:
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - 394 votes (45%)
- Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii - 158 votes (18%)
- Monster Hunter Wilds - 154 votes (17%)
- Trails through Daybreak 2 - 38 votes (4%)
- Civilization 7 - 33 votes (4%)
A sequel that builds brilliantly upon its predecessor, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 feels like a worthy Game of the Month winner.
The medieval, historical RPG was met with incredibly positive reviews and strong sales upon its release near the start of February. While its underlying systems demand time and patience — it really is a rather hardcore experience — there's nothing quite like the daring adventures of Henry once you're locked in.
We gave the title an exceedingly rare Push Square 10/10 in our full Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 PS5 review. "In daring to deliver its singular vision for a game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 transports even the most grizzled genre veterans back to a time of truly immersive video game experiences," we wrote.
Congratulations, Henry! He's gone from muddied vagrant, to squire, to knight, to Game of the Month winner in just a few short years.
Original Story: February 2025 was an especially busy month for new PS5 releases — and it would have been even busier had Assassin's Creed Shadows not been delayed into March!
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 kicked off last month in a big way, with the hardcore RPG racking up seriously impressive review scores before wowing players both new and old.
Meanwhile, the mental Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii offered something familiar but fresh, and of course, February was closed out by the seemingly almighty Monster Hunter Wilds. That's a lot of game!
But let's not overlook the likes of Civilization 7 and Trails through Daybreak 2. Those two titles couldn't be more different — and they may not have commanded headlines quite like the aforementioned trio — but they still brought additional quality to a packed schedule.

Lost records for me as I really enjoyed it and it's the only one I played. I must have been only vote when I did as it was at 100% . Won't stay like that lol
Definitely Monster Hunter for sure.
I only played Pirate Yakuza, so that's my pick by default.
Warriors Abyss. Because it's the only one of these games I've played.
Kingdom Come, by far.
Only one I've played on the list was MH Wilds so that gets my vote.
Trails Through Daybreak 2. The answer is always Trails.
That was a strong month!
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 was the best game of the month, easily. The only thing that came close was Monster Hunter Wilds, but given it's performance issues I don't think it deserves game of the month.
Definitely Kingdom Come though this is the first MH I’m actually making it through.
Shout out to Tiny Terry, bought the game with my daughter and it was actually very funny. Easy cheap plat that was a ton of fun, almost like a mini N64 collectathon.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds are both awesome. Like A Dragon can wait for now
Only gotten and played MH Wilds.
So definitely MH
I didn't buy / play any games in the poll.
KC2 no question. Still playing it but based on the 70 hours i've put into it so far its easily one of my favourite games this Gen.
Pirate Yakuza
Pirate Yakuza easily
I often play games 1-10 years late so none of those. But LOVED Sayonara Wild Hearts, that was probably my favourite game in I played in Feb. Also shout our to Rollerdrome (RIP Roll7) and replaying Braid (still a masterpiece of game design)
MH Wilds for me. Definitely
Game of last month…? I’m slowly but steadily arriving at the point where my backlog is small enough to start considering to buy some 2024 games.
Ask me in around 5 years if I'm still alive by then.
I have bought Like A Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 but only played Like A Dragon Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii so my vote goes to that.
I’ve only played Bloom & Rage - a spectacular game with an absolutely ludicrously terrible bug, that’s been busy wiping out people’s (and mine) entire saves.
I’d backed up on the cloud, but still lost a good 3-4 hours of playtime. Please patch it already DontNod!
I voted for KCD2 and it’s not even close, just as I’m not even close to beating the game after 250 hours. That said, I haven’t played Wilds yet. I’m tempted too. I’ve never been a big Monster Hunter person, but I did spend about 80 hours with Rise and really enjoyed it. This new entry looks really cool.
Hope you guys do these polls for every month. They're fun.
Not sure if you did those last year after January and February.
Monster Hunter Wilds. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii a close second.
KCD2 by far, only diehard fans will vote for MHW given the comical state it launched in and still is in technically.
Some people used money saved for MHWilds to buy KCD2 on a whim because of the out of nowhere hype, so the latter is definitely going to lead on this site.
@DonJorginho I haven't played Wilds, but I know from several people that they haven't had any issues. The internet will always overblow technical issues. Not saying they aren't a problem, but I suspect the issues are much rarer than you would initially assume and I imagine most casual players wouldn't even notice, so plenty more than diehards would be head over heels for Wilds.
@Meowmixes98 Or Ys when Trails is not an option
I would say MonHun but I'm playing it on the PC
I ended up playing the first kingdom come deliverance for most of last month in preparation for playing KCD2, so I guess KCD2 is my game of the month even though I’m gonna have to delay playing it for another month to avoid burnout
KCD2 by far. Fantastic game.
@JAMes-BroWWWn The goal is to do them every month from now on. The previous format was just a lot of work, so we've tried to simplify it and keep it ticking this year.
@wildcat_kickz I mean it’s all over every forum, being covered by Digital Foundry and other outlets, and I’ve had multiple friends refund the game on both PC and PS due to how bad it looks/runs.
Every bad launch has people who say “it works fine for me” but mileage may vary is the term to use here, it may not even be the case of devices not causing issues but people being less likely to spot said issues as they’re not tech savvy, I used to be the same back in the day; I never noticed the awful framerates of PS3 till I went back to it years after.
Hopefully its fixed within a few patches but the fact the game still looks pretty damn bad universally even on 5090s, and runs poorly across all platforms, is a pretty indicative sign it hasn’t been a smooth launch.
And even performance aside, even the most hardcore of MH fans are admitting the story is awful, handholdy, filled with mediocre performances, poor pacing, and multiple walking segments that are hindering the experience as a whole
Contrast to KCD2 which launched near perfectly, with an epic story not seen since RDR2, with immersion and ambition never seen in open world games since the dawn of their conception, I’ll always put that ingenuity above a poor launch, but I’ll still be picking MHW on sale down the line as the bugs will be ironed out in due time
@rusty82 I just started it and love it so far. But I've played all the Life is Strange games and love them too. If you haven't played them I would recommend starting with the first one, which was the same team that did Lost Records. I'll have my vote up sometime in the next week!
@Steeleye50 I'm a big life is strange fan too. Currently on episode 4 of double exposure. Only one not got into is 2. Just didn't resonate with me
@DonJorginho Don't get me wrong, I don't really have a horse in this race, haha. I'm not a Monster Hunter guy and haven't played KC:D2 yet, but plan to down the road. I don't doubt the technical problems or wave them away. I was just trying to say that there will be plenty of casuals who love Wilds, regardless. People who comment here, myself included, are pretty hardcore gamers and are much more dialed into whatever the chatter is. My coworker has a 4090 and hasn't had any issues and I've heard it's pretty good on PS5 Pro, but again, I ain't playing it either way 😂
@rusty82 the first 2 chapters in 2 were really a slog for me to get through, but by the 3rd one it finally picks up. There's a nice LIS 1 cameo at the end as well. I did end up enjoying that one, but it's probably my least favorite of them all. Take care!
@wildcat_kickz yeah PS5 Pro seems to be the most solid place to play it right now, and with the PC side mileage may vary is the truth, some streamers with 5080s are having issues and some with 4060s are doing just fine. Really is a lottery.
I’m glad those who can look past the bugs and performance issues are enjoying it though, MH games are always a fun time even if they’re not my favourite cup of tea.
@rusty82 I really enjoyed Lost Records except for the last 10 minutes or so. I'm really hoping the second part delivers. The recording and editing aspect was pretty great and I really like Swann and Nora.
@DonJorginho Its actually alright on console especially on the Pro, its PC players that are having the big issues.
Monster Hunter Wilds takes first place for me, such an amazing game and I've had no problems so far on the base PS5. Trails Through Daybreak 2 is not far behind, some great new additions like hacking and the Marchen Garden.
I have also finished Bloom and Rage and I found it to be a bit of a slog and very slow to get to the interesting and more supernatural parts.
Mos def KCD2 for me. Still playing it after 120 hours!
I'm really enjoying Avowed at the moment too.
@DennisReynolds it’s better on Consoles for sure but still pretty damn rough, one scroll through any console subreddit or discussion thread on ResetERA you’ll see plenty unhappy, it is showing issues even on Pro.
Not to forget how they also completely broke textures for every system with the day one patch 😭
AAA development is certainly entertaining at times, makes me appreciate Warhorse even more.
@Steeleye50 may give it another go as it's only got half way through episode 2
Kingdom come deliverance 2 for me by miles. A proper in depth RPG. best RPG for years.
I only played Pirate Majima and it was magnificent so I guess Pirate Majima.
@rusty82 it does get better. Hope you enjoy!
Steep... Yes, that Steep from Ubisoft...
@SquawkingTurtle Don't worry I'm fine.
But we never know how long people have of course. There's bound to have been some commenters on this site that passed away over the years, but if they weren't in the top 1% most active posters, most users probably wouldn't notice their absence. Kinda sad isn't it?
Only played Pirate Yakuza from the list, but what a game... Love it 😀
Glover: Remastered
KCD - rare game that runs properly and looks like it is fully exploiting the hardware and not running Folding at Home in the background like most games these days.
Very niche title, so those who dislike it aren’t wrong.
Trails through Daybreak 2. By far.
It didn't come out in FEB '25 but I spent the month largely enjoying every second spent playing Lords Of The Fallen from '23. Can that count as my Game Of The Month??
I only played wukong so it was that for me! lol
Well deserved! It’s an incredible game. In fact, I just wrapped up the platinum trophy for KCD2 this morning.
Jesus Christ be praised, I got the platinum over the weekend, the game is a 10/10 without question
KCD2 is one of the best games I've ever played let alone the best game of the month
Well it couldn't be anything else , an epic game, its truly wonderful.
Kingdom come deliverance 2 deserve that game of the month.and like a dragon pirate yakuza in Hawaii and monster hunter wilds is incredible games also.word up son
KCD2 is incredible. I'm glad I took a chance on it.
I tried with this one. I really did, but it’s just not for me. Happens sometimes, but glad it’s a huge game for others.
I'm hesitant about KCD2, on one hand the immersive world is something i have craved for since RDR2, but something about the combat looks a bit of, and also the heavy RPG elements with long dialogue scenes. But i guess i should just try it for myself?
I'll get to it some day! My game of the month was Brutal Doom, because my backlog is a Sisyphean task!
I tried Kingdom come Deliverance and found it to be very tough going so is it really worth trying version 2?
