We're just hours away from The Game Awards 2024, and so it's time to get your final predictions in. We simply have to ask: which nominee do you think will win the grand prize?
Geoff Keighley's annual event has had some very worthy winners over the years. Baldur's Gate 3 — widely considered to be one of the greatest RPGs ever made — took Game of the Year in 2023. The universally praised Elden Ring — which now has a DLC in the running! — did it in 2022.
But does 2024 have such an obvious winner? We're not so sure. It's been a fantastic 12 months for quality games, but nothing screams Game of the Year quite like those previous examples. And so with that in mind, this poll should deliver some very interesting results.
What game do you think will win Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024? You've got a one-in-six chance of getting it right, so vote in our poll, and then attempt to explain yourself in the comments section below.

I think it'll be Rebirth, but I hope it's Balatro just so I can watch the world burn.
The correct answer is Rebirth.
I'd love to see Rebirth or Astro get it, but it's probably going to be Balatro.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.2
Knowing Dorito Pope DLC will take the win. I don't even like a single nominated game except Metaphor, my personal GOTY is Stellar Blade.
Astro bot deserves it
None of these games scream GOTY for me but it's probably Elden Ring DLC.
I hope Rebirth wins but it looks like DLC is gonna take it 🙄😒
Will win : Black Myth: Wukong or Shadow of the Erdtree
Should win : Astro Bot or Metaphor: ReFantazio
Snubbed : Silent Hill 2
I want Astro Bot to win but I think Erdtree will because after 2016 FromSoftware soulsborne has never lost.
It will likely be Elden Ring despite it having already won. Even the Elden Ring fans over on their subreddit agree the DLC’s inclusion is wrong.
I thought Rebirth would be an instalock for it but every other award show or media outlet is hell bent on snubbing Rebirth for the grand prize so now idk. I still hope astro or rebirth take it but it's probably gonna be wukong or metaphor. Of which I think neither deserve it
At the very least, that goty orchestra at the end is probably gonna be killer with astro, rebirth, elden ring, and metaphor music in it
Come on Balatro! It would be awesome to see an indie developed by a single person win it.
Balatro.
Cowards!
Erdtree shouldn't win, but if it does and then Sony announces their Kadokawa acquisition right after, that'd be a petty baller move.
I think Rebirth will win (which I think would be deserved), but I hope it goes to either Astro or Balatro. Astro is the only one on the list that I've played that I think should win, but I think Balatro (which I haven't played yet) is such a scrappy success story, that it would put such a smile on my face to see that one-person dev get the nod.
Well, Elden Ring was generational. Baldur's Gate 3 was generational. And this list...
Well, I guess it has Elden Ring on it. But it's a DLC.
Personally, I don't care. But to see the indie game win would be cool. If an indie ever had a chance, it's this year 😅 and the fact that Astrobot has a chance at game of the year is pretty impressive, even if this year there are no true obvious choices.
@ShogunRok The world is more likely to burn if Erdtree wins…
Personally, I’d be ok with Balatro winning.
I’m rooting for Rebirth, but think AstroBot will win. And again, if Balatro wins, that’s totally earned too.
Sadly I think shadow of the erdtree will sweep it. I’ve a hard time believing it won’t given the dlc eligibility was seemingly introduced only for this.
I genuinely believe it’s because few games came remotely close to Black Myth and Astro Bot. It’s been a pretty empty year, and no Rebirth doesn’t deserve even a nomination. I’ve never quit a game right at the final boss and moved on completely.
My fav is astro bot runner up is persona 3 reload. I haven’t played silent hill 2 yet but it looks cool.
Appreciate separate polls, unlike in the earlier article, which left some confused. Think Rebirth will claim GOTY, but personally rooting for Balatro. If that happens, I expect the outrage not seen since when Telltale’s The Walking Dead got the honours in 2012!
Rebirth is my game of the generation so far. It clicked with me in a way a game hasn't for a long time. I haven't fell in love with a group of characters that much since Mass Effect 2.
Of course Balatro!
But I fear it will be ER dlc just because to make another controversy and give people more anger...
I guess I must try this Balatro game… 🤔
Where's the gutsy, bold choice for Concord or SUICIDE SQUAD: Kill The Justice League?? Where can I vote for those??
While I'd much prefer Rebirth, Metaphor, or Balatro, I think Astrobot is gonna get it. While a great game, as someone who's played PS4 playroom, PSVR playroom, Astrobot rescue mission, and PS5 playroom I'm not as impressed with the game as most people. Most of the music, and several of the gameplay elements are just used from the other games.
Since this is a PS site, I expected a lot of people might want Astro Bot to win - I'm surprised so many think it will. I don't see it happening.
If I were a betting man, my money would be on Erdtree.
I think people might be sleeping on Metaphor. Sure JRPGs basically never win but for one reason or another Metaphor seems to have clicked with more journalists than Persona ever did.
I'd love to see it but I wouldn't mind Astro Bot taking it either.
It’ll be Black Myth Wukong because democracy doesn’t work.
@ApostateMage I'm kind of curious what you were posting like before Cyberpunk was ever announced, what was your previous obsession? 😁
I think it will be AstroBot, but I would like to see Metaphor.
Astro bot
That's it.
Rebirth does not deserve to win based off the piss poor way the game director implemented the trophies (which he has already publicly apologized for, but is too lazy to correct his mistake with a patch). That said, Astrobot deserves to win regardless. A perfect game (with a perfect trophy list. So far. Unless they screw it up in one of these endless post-release content updates).
@Mattock1987 what democracy? The winner is decided by so-called professional jury aka dorito pope and his friends.
My personal goty - Silent hill 2
I'm not for DLC winning, but Erdtree is equivalent to a full game and blows every one of the other options out of the water.
I hope it's Wukong, but I'm expecting Astro Bot.
I hope it's Astro Bot. Astro Bot, by all reasonable accounts, seems to have done well relative to it's budget, and for it to win Game of the Year would be an excellent message to Sony along the lines of "more of this, less of stuff like Concord"
@Jayslow Did you complete it? Yes some borrowed elements but a much larger game and a vastly upgraded experience.
Elden Ring DLC will probably win... makes no sense to me, all these from soft games look the same boring, masochistic grind-fests to me, but I seem to be in the minority (putting it lightly!)
Love to see Astro Bot win, as I think games should prioritise FUN
The utterly deafening stupidity of Rebirth's ending soured the game for me. Astro however, was delightful from start to finish. Polished to perfection too.
Stellar Blade is my GOTY. Hope it wins some of the awards its nominated to.
@doctommaso yeah I platinumed it. Again fantastic game. I have it #5 on my GOTY list. Also to put in perspective any game in my top 5 would have been my GOTY in every year since 2020 (all due respect to BG3 and Elden Ring which just weren't my type of game)
Seeing the nominations only makes me realise how dry the year has been.
@Jayslow Ah okay, fair enough!
Since the votes are mainly done by US "games media" it's going to be Balatro, and it will be cray.
I kinda wish it would be FF7
Astro Bot or Metaphor should win. Black Myth or Elden Ring will actually win.
Astro Bot! Come on who wants to make that little dude sad?
@Korgon A certain platformer never wins when Nintendo publish it either. When Sony release a (great) knock-off however….
But the GAs know their audience. Which is why I am fully expecting Elden Ring to win it. It wouldn’t even surprise me if there was some back scratching going on with the nomination in exchange for some exclusive trailer for their next project.
I put 103 hours into FFVII, but honestly, it's nowhere near Game of the Year material, and I don't think the others are either. In my opinion, this year has been pretty lackluster in terms of releases. I enjoyed Silent Hill and Indika the most, but they’re not even on the list.
They will give it to Elden Ring. Anything to prevent a square game and or turn base game from it
Mediocre year. Balatro or maybe the overrated Astro.
Really surprised if Astro doesn't win.
@ShogunRok what makes this even funnier is the amount of fires in California so this won't need much of a spark to light things up 😅😂
I've never played Rebirth, but considering the high praise I keep hearing, guessing that's most likely taking the win.
My hopes is on Astro Bot however. Fantastic platformer and easily one of the best in its genre I've ever played.
The winner is me, because once it’s over we can stop talking about it.
Rebirth deserves it but I've a feeling it'll be Astrobot.
No issue with that as it was an excellent game.
Surprising amount of people think Astro Bot was GOTY material. I loved it, but the whole thing being done within 3 days make me feel like it can't hang with some of those larger experiences. I think FF7 deserves it, but I think Wukong, Elden Ring, or Metaphor are the real contenders next to it. Astro Bot and Balatro just seem too niche.
Rebirth or Metaphor should get it. Erdtree shouldn't be there, Balatro is great but it's no FF or Atlus rpg, and Astro was great but I can put my PS bias aside and admit it isn't worthy of goty.
It should be Astro Bot but it probably won't be
@DonkeyFantasy
Personally I don't understand this mentality but some people just want to watch the world burn I guess.
Probably Elden Ring or Wu Kong.. shouldn't be, but I'd question the integrity of the game awards.
Played Metaphor & Erdtree. I think I've enjoyed Erdtree more, no wonder it's the first dlc to break the rules buuuutt I don't think it'll win.
Not counting my own opinion, I really see Astro Bot due to the wide appeal. Some of these games, while popular, are also very niche. Again, that's not MY GOTY, that probably goes to Metaphor, but if I'm predicting the winner, I'd go with Astro Bot.
Think Astro Bot will win. I'd personally pick Metaphor but Astro Bot got that feel good, everyone can enjoy it charm. As long as Final Fantasy VII Rebirth doesn't win I'm fine with it.
Erdtree probably. My choice would be Astrobot but as much as I liked it, I’m not sure it’s GOTY worthy. I preferred Playroom tbh. I think it just goes to show what an average year it has been for gaming. Some good games but no truly great ones.
@Dalamar my bad, I got it mixed up with the Players Choice one
