The curtain has fallen on Microsoft’s annual Xbox Showcase, with the brand going through a bit of a reinvention under new CEO Asha Sharma. Still, as is always the case for any livestream, there was plenty of PS5 news throughout, and we’ve compiled all of the headlines below for your convenience.
If you’re looking for more information about non-PS5 announcements, then we’ll direct you to our colleagues at Pure Xbox for all that and more. Don’t worry, they don’t bite over there – they just prefer the colour green.

Persona 4 Revival and Wo-Long 2 are stand-outs for me. I'm a little worried about some of the saltiness coming from our community toward the E-Day being Xbox exclusive. I didn't realise there were so many die-hard Gears fans that don't own an Xbox here!
Basically almost everything except a couple of first party exclusives (Gears and Clockwork Rev) and a few third party ones.
Looking forward to Nintendo showing GTA6 next week
The only thing I was really disappointed isn’t coming to PS5 was that Vivarium game with that truly perfect Lupin III-esque visual aesthetic. What little was shown looked fantastic. Maybe an eventual port down the road
The first trailer for gears was a little disappointing but that deep dive at the end look such much better I'm hyped! Halo, fable and clockwork also looked amazing
As a mainly JRPG (and Japanese games in general) player I was quite underwhelmed with this show.
If gears and clockwork dont bring in any numbers I get a feeling we will see them elsewhere regardless of them saying we won't. That gears PS5 code is already pretty much done and will likely be sat there until the time is right. Just like starfield.
Lots for PS5 and if you include PS5 own exclusives and paid third party exclusives by Sony (waste of time) They dominate the console market if you take the biggest console seller Nintendo out of the equation.
Many games for PS5.
Will be interesting to see the sales of Halo on PS5.
Was surprised not to see FH6 PS5 release date.
Awr man... I'm gonna have to put a spreadsheet together for all the games that are of interest to me and work out some sort of priority system. Still haven't got around to jotting everything down from the SoP... 🙄
@AI-Generation I wouldn't say I'm anti-Xbox, but have long since vowed never to own one (because Microsoft), but Halo on PS5 I could get into, provided it's not buggy as hell.
Xbox really believes that Gears is the game to move consoles?
@LiamOliver
Halo games are not normally buggy.
Though it is their first time with unreal engine and UR5.
I would expect the PS5 Pro version to shine the best though, then series x, then PS5, then series s.
Of course not counting PC.
Clockwork Revolution looks like it could be good, but it's one I'll be waiting on reviews before checking out.
Disappointed we still don't have a release date for Forza Horizon 6 yet though. I guess XBox wanna eek that one out a li'l longer.
The whopping two games not coming to PS5. Big deal, can play them on PC. Hell, people don't even need a PC or Xbox to play them if a person doesn't mind streaming.
And Fable. The righties aren't going to like that one much. Too many women and blacks for them to handle in a game. In before all of the "woke" comments.
Snooze fest. Over all very mid week announcements wise
@AI-Generation There's always a first time. But seeing as I did actually get a Pro I think you've raised my optimism. Thanks!
I dropped out of PC gaming when my GPU died and prices had just gone sky high. Keep meaning to sort that out. It's only been.... 6 years....?
Wish gears and clockwork would be ps5 but that’s the reality after I sold my series x 2 years ago hopefully Xbox competes with Sony more
xbox had to calm down the xbox fans who want their games to be exclusive in the belief that will sell a lot of xbox consoles lol..
I'm kind of amazed that Persona 6 is on Game Pass. Wonder how much Microsoft had to fork out for that.
Not mentioning in their trailers that most of those third party games also comes to the PS5 is pretty small minded 🤣
PlayStation has the confidence to show all console logo's and PC knowing you will pick the PS option.
I really liked the show, and lots of games for team blue to enjoy. But for all the exclusives on the show, the only one ill miss is Vivarium. The 80s, 90s, ghibli japanese anime asthetic is very beautiful, and I like some cozy games in my room. Hope the game comes to PS someday in the future.
@johnedwin Worst thing is those Xbox die hards won't even buy the games anyway.
Castlevania, Vivarium, and Spyro for me. Halo and Fable too. State of Play was slightly better, but honestly, Nintendo Direct pending, I think Geoff had the best showcase of not E3 so far, which I never thought I’d say. I do think the lack of Witchbrook may be confirmation of Direct impending, I hope.
Years ago, if you'd told me that new Spyro and Persona games would be announced at an Xbox showcase, I wouldn't have believed you 😂

@BigMike22 If you don’t like this site, just move on!
Gears E looked good, only the rifle stuck to his back with no strap looked weird, it's 2026 unless he has magnet in his jacket I don't know about. Played Gears back in the day, it was just okay but the bar games like Uncharted, TLOU, GOW have set since then...
@Barry_vV You are being sarcastic right? With all the saltiness in these comments I can't be sure
Microsoft exec says gears and clockwork revolution will never come to ps5. Oh no… anyway
@BigMike22 Nintendo never made a comeback in the home console market. They went handheld lol
@8th_Observer haha, never said I didn't like the site, just hate the toxic approach users have to make anything non Playstation to be negative. Obviously this is a Playstation centric site, but I wish users would be more objective and open minded.
@GamingGod Fair enough, combing their resources was a last ditch and best idea they ever had. A lot of times good ideas come from desperation. A lot of bad ideas come from there too, excited to see how this goes.
@BigMike22 the amount of negativity on this site from ps gamers towards PlayStation tells me you might not read this site much though tbh? I often wonder if I’m on a ps centric site at all on some comment sections 😂
Removed - flaming/arguing
I didn't watch the showcase and looks like i didn't miss anything.
@BigMike22 Are you new to this site? Did you never see the commenters here showed negative reactions when Sony closed Bluepoint, increased PS5 & PS+ price, or showed live service games? You're free to moves on to other site if you don't like what you see here.
@MrPeanutbutterz I guess I'm just dropping to their level....but your second paragraph is right, it would be a shoulder shrug, Gears wouldn't do well on Playstation, not liking a brand, sure whatever, it's just a plastic box just like Playstation. Not sure what point your trying to make. But it is what it is.
@BigMike22 My point is I don't know why you're surprised at the userbase of a site that historically didn't have proper (bar the Reloaded release of the original game, but you know what I mean) access to Gears of War being nonplussed about not having access to Gears of War going forward.
A lot of people back in the late 00s were given a choice between the hoo-rah dude-bro military glorification drabness of Gears, or the Saturday matinee colour of Uncharted. Guess which website the people who went with the latter frequent?
I'm also pointing out it's a bit rich of you to be calling out people here being toxic about a game while you yourself are being toxic about the people posting.
@MrPeanutbutterz You're right, I was playing down and I shouldn't do that. As to which game gained the bigger following, Uncharted obviously, the developer didn't change and the quality didn't dip. Gears wasn't consistent, this is their chance at a reset. I guess it's just shocking to me to this day that people have to be so polarized regardless of side you choose to be on.
@BigMike22 Well I think there's an element of "okay don't have my money then". And I get that as Xbox's flip-flopping is so damn tiring to listen to.
Personally I feel like Gears has ran its course. I dabbled with 1 back in the day, enjoyed 2, 3 was decent as well. Controversially, I enjoyed Judgement the most. 4 and 5 were just tired (particularly the open world sections in 5).
So it very much peaked back on the 360, and we're now very far removed from it. So even for Xbox fans I don't see this game generating much hype - certainly not enough to sell €600 consoles that are almost six years old (and for what it's worth, as someone who has played the living daylights out of the Uncharted series, I'd have zero interest in an Uncharted 5 too).
@MrPeanutbutterz I did say this above, it's not going to move consoles, it'll engage the users Xbox does have though. The goal is to show your competing again, it's a setup for next gen.
Very few franchises that are not aimed at children can survive over long periods of times without a full reboot. So your're right, Gears won't move units, it's perception more than anything.
Based on these move the brand will go through a full refresh and retry their hand improving their numbers.
From industry chatter, both companies want to get their systems out asap to insure they don't get killed by more part price issues. Console gamers have historically shown that they will show up for new system at launch. Cross-gen will be longer than ever though.
Activision acquired Spyro in 2008… why did it take 18 years to get ‘Realm Beyond’!?
@LiamOliver I find it really strange that you say you wouldn't buy an XBOX because they are linked with Microsoft. Why is that?
M$ isn’t offering much I care about. DOOM, Halo and COD are pretty much about it.
I'm guessing these token xbox exclusive games were chosen because their production cost is low enough to keep the team paid despite giving up the PS5 market.
Very excited for a new Spyro game and to finally play a State of Decay game on PS5!
@badbob001 I doubt its that because I expect Gears eday will have cost hundreds of millions to make.
its probably exclusives because they looked at Gears reloaded sales that were terrible and thought why not keep it exclusive we wont be missing out on many sales
People might question the logic but it makes more sense to keep Gears an Xbox exclusive. It’s not got a high enough profile to sell well on PS and it remains the original system seller for the Xbox 360.
Halo on the other hand is a game Xbox players have been through numerous times and PS owners have been starved of decent FPS material for a long time. This will sell a lot more, even if it doesn’t include the valuable multiplayer component.
I don’t care cause I was never going to play Gears, but it seems strange to now gate that one. Especially if you’re sticking to your guns on Halo.
Seems silly at this point, but Xbox can do whatever it’s a nothing.
I just really don’t understand protecting Gears over Halo
Have to say..... the fall out on this site and its comment section over Xbox taking some of its games back has been HILARIOUS..... Fully grown Men and Woman clearly upset and even the tone in some of these articles but hay dont mind me lol
not gonna lie, I'm quite disappointed that Clockwork Revolution won't be releasing on PS5. It looks good to me, and I like Wasteland 3 too so was quite anticipating the devs' next game. I hope, somehow, it'll be released on PS5 eventually.
@For-Kier I think it's more so to keep the core from abandoning them before Helix.
@For-Kier why don't think so? Just asking btw
@UltimateOtaku91 As someone who tries to play a lot of JRPG myself this whole not E3 week has been somewhat of a wash. I was bummed when DQ 12 got canceled and they started work on DQ13 (which is basically what they told us) but I was happy for FF7 Revelation and it being released relatively soon. Though I'm expecting at least 1 delay to summer b/c that's every game these days. I'm probably the only JRPG guy who has never played a Persona game and I still have no plans too. Maybe I should get into Fable? God of War Laufey does kinda look like a fantasy JRPG graphically if not in gameplay.
FF13 Versus becoming FF XV reminds me a lot of what happened with DQ which is why it feels like DQ13 to me now.

Big ol nothing burger trash line up.
The only thing I hoped for was to play Gears of War: E-Day on PS5. I don't want to be subbed to game pass ever again. Now I have to go back to another game pass subscription ffs. Might as well play Halo: Campaign Evolved on xbox instead of PS5 then. Can't wait to play Halo, Gears and State of Decay 3. Great games! Awesome summer awaits!
@Killionaire Xbox has stupidly hurt its game sales because of the introduction of Game Pass. They created leeches who dont want to buy games anymore.
So sales will be disappointing, and then they'll release it on PS5 for the money.
Resident Evil Veronica, Persona 6 and Spyro were the nicest surprises for me. Don't count leaks because then nothing will ever be new. Looking forward to E-Day and Halo Campaign Evolved, as well.
@Barry_vV idc about owning games on release if I can play them via a subscription model. If I haven't completed them or still want to play them when they leave the sub I'll buy them when they're on sale. If a game is available on both consoles I always prefer to have it on ps5
@AI-Generation what Sony exclusives? They showed two. I hoped they will show at least several first party games on SoP.
@Leinad7
I get what you mean, expecting to see ND intergalactic gameplay if only a little.
Then maybe an another first party in development.
Yes overall they are not the first party Sony from the PS4 era. Those old shows were fantastic.
@AI-Generation I just miss one grand show with all possible stuff like E3. I also miss diverse genres in games from both MS, Sony - I am tired of 3rd person action adventure games stacked with QTE and 20 minute cinematic every 2-3 minutes of gameplay. If I wanted to watch a movie for $70 I would go to cinema.
@SMJ I've not been a fan of Microsoft for many years. For many reasons. I'll not stand in the aisles and decry them vociferously, but they do with Xbox what they've always done, which has been harmful and counterproductive to games, Gamers and the industry as a whole. I'm grateful that Asha Sharma upon taking over has shaken the brand and seems to want it to stand tall and go up against PlayStation, and I hope she succeeds, Sony need someone to keep PlayStation honest. Apple have similar practices, which I also disagree with.
Plague Tale (sick of this and Senua's title names they are annoying and confusing and not War Thunder, Warframe, etc. type confusing). It looks good but I'd want more to it, still some good action adventure games is great. Just if they had more compelling gameplay then the basic formula we have gotten for 3 console gens now (and minus the gimmicks I liked in PS3/360e era that are gone).
Spyro was a pretty safe trailer saying 'free' flight' or 'it exists' it's a bit pathetic. Gets you thinking but it's still so 'we haven't got anything to show yet'. Then why show us? Confidence they are making one and players/customers to be reassured, ok, whatever. Sure it's a childhood IP for me, doesn't make I don't expect better from them like nay other IPs if it has 'good gameplay ideas' but I doubt it. Minigames that aren't generic quests instead Toys for Bob please don't do that. Breaths, interesting moveset ideas, I want gameplay not just the 'story/graphics/worlds we have to make it feel lived in'. Make a Spyro 4 that counts not just Spyro 2.5 or 3.5, please.
I mean to me I'd have been happy with them making another IP, not just an outside Activision extent of things for leadership. If it has fair ideas sure, otherwise pass.
Metro 2039 will be fine. Like Exodus or the prior ones but fine.
Halo, Gears and Crazy Taxi are 'fine' but not sure I care much.
Halo has some bad lighting inside the Pillar of Autumn, the ice areas of the Halo fog, lighting or whatever and others, they look terrible of ray tracing, dusty look or whatever they are going for, it's not good at all XD, which is hilarious for the lighting on the Pillar of Autumn at all. XD It even leaving the hyperspace or whatever with the debris it looked work in progress at times there despite giving off an effort of detail for scenario the animation and art wasn't good there. There was good parts yes but even still. The new ship segment, yeah as they went well in Reach? I am open to the idea but I don't find they make them to be that fun and I like vehicle segments or ship segments.
