A lot of great games there, 2025 is looking stacked. A shame the new Fantasy Life or Ghost of Yotei wasn't shown but oh well.
I thought that was solid, particularly Tides of Annihilation, Darwin's Paradox and a damn Lost Soul Aside release date.
Nice that we actually got a new first party game as well.
@UltimateOtaku91 May alone is looking stacked, there literally isn't enough time to get everything on release date.
Well that was a massive waste of my time.
A lot of great stuff shown today, I'm pretty excited.
I don’t think it was terrible, but I did expect more which I think is realistic. The SOP from Feb. ‘22 demonstrates that Sony is capable of housing a show with numerous new announcements, and I was hoping for something like that here (No Resi at all? Square Enix? Level 5? FromSoftware?). If they had subbed a couple bangers like these in and kept the Housemarque finish, that would have been a good show for me. Otherwise, just okay, and I’ll look forward to the summer PS show in the meantime, as well as the upcoming Switch 2 Direct.
Loads of good stuff, there i said it F the haters.
Buzzing! Mindsey3, Saros, Tides of Annihilation, Lost Soul Aside, Hell is Us… and frikkin’ Days Gone: Remastered (no cap Days Gone is incredible and it will be my privilege to plat that again).
Solid show with plenty of games set for 2025, I do admit that the lack of DS2 and especially Ghost of Yotei is surprising considering Sony still insist there coming this year.
Tides of Annihilation looks exceptional! I'm most excited about that one!!!
@ThroughTheIris56 add in the Switch 2 and the possibilities there as well 💀
Shinobi, Darwin's paradox and directive 8020 were my stand outs in what was overall a slightly disappointing presentation. I really wish they'd stop with these needless ps4 remasters like was anyone really waiting for a days gone remaster? when there's so many games from ps3 or earlier they could pick to remaster.
@Megayoshi96 I forgot about Shinobi… yeah as someone who considered Revenge of Shinobi in my all-time top 3 Megadrive games, I can’t wait!
Rubbish to be honest
Ruined my week. 0/10.
I've got my eye on at least 5 in that list so I'm pretty happy 😁 new Onimusha is gonna be great and that futuristic FPS [Metal Eden] looks slick! Great selection of Japanese/Chinese/Korean games in there too.
Honestly, I'm more pumped than ever for the hobby - Kingdom Come is on the telly right now, a huge backlog of awesome games on the shelf and tons more coming up this year. My Pro has been blessed 😌
Remember to enjoy your hobby, guys Happy gaming!
A pretty solid lineup that i'm probably can only afford to buy some of them on day 1.
@AdamNovice DS2 got it's own presentation at next month SXSW and Ghost of Yotei possibly will get it's own State of Play.
None of them I like.
I still on the fence with Sonic Racing Cross Worlds.
Anyway, glad I didn't watch the state of play.
I knew there will be no interesting games for me.
Removed - inappropriate; user is banned
There is at least 7 or 8 games there I'm interested in.
If nothing in there appealed to you then maybe you should think about finding a new hobby because you're definitely the problem.
They saved the best till last, absolutely buzzing for Saros!
A lot of interesting stuff
What caught my attention though is a Shinobi game not because I wanted, but it made me think they really should make a new Shinobi game similar to either ninja gaiden.
I think it has massive potential.
@mountain_spider "should make a new Shinobi game similar to either ninja gaiden"
They already did back in PS2 days which i really enjoyed, although Nightshade / Kunoichi feels like a wasted potential since Hibana's design looks cool (and sexy). Both games doesn't sold well and that's probably forced the series to stay in 2D side scroller genre.
Not a whole lot that’s too exciting.
Oh and another half assed remaster.
I don't know how anyone can see this list as well as the other games that we know are coming out this year like Ninja Gaiden 4, Doom, Yotei and DS2 (oh and whatever Ninty is cooking on Switch 2) and be so doom and gloom.
@Apollo2212 Well that was a massive waste of my time.
You too huh? I am sending Sony a bill of what i make hourly cause i would have had more fun working an extra hour today. Highly unlikely they pay it, but i did include PSN 24 outage cost as well.
Jokes aside it’s good that Sony has console sales to lean on to shield them from the fact the PS5 has been their worst PS generation ever and it’s running out of time to change that. All the YouTubers and fanboys will defend Sony to the hills and back. But i am so bored with PS5 i am considering selling it for a Switch 2 and playing on that and Series X until PS6 comes out. To be noted i only play PS exclusives on my PS consoles. So all the other games I’ll play on the other box.
@MrMagic I’m not the problem the problem is all the good games in there are games i want to play on a controller with off set thumb sticks. I come here for the exclusives and i didn’t see much. I would agree with you there was games there if you only own a PS. But wow in year 5 we are seeing the effects ole Jimbo Ryan had on the 1st party.
@MrMagic I couldn't agree more, but tbh most of the hate is coming from the usual playstation haters anyway, if the majority of these turned up in an Xbox showcase it would be lauded.
@HonestHick Hahahaha. They completely wasted this gen on developing live service games which they then cancelled. Thank God for third party or it really would be barren.
@HonestHick “I come here for the exclusives”
Just a heads up, since you’re only into exclusives for Playstation, i thought i’d help you out if you didn’t already know. These are all the 1st party and exclusives that have been announced for Playstation so far:
Please stop referring to anyone who doesn't immediately praise these shows as haters, trolls, etc. They are passionate playstation fans, just like you & me. They have opinions and are entitled to them, and to share these opinions, just as you do. They are not the problem as some would put it, there is no problem.
It's just a condescending attitude to have towards others & I'm tired of it.
Thank you!
@UltimateOtaku91 Exactly!
The usual suspects were always going to have a whinge no matter what was shown. I don't blame them though, for some of them the inevitable impending death of their platform of choice must be a bitter pill to swallow so they are becoming increasingly desperate.
@HonestHick Maybe you should work on your reading comprehension and read my comment again and in all honesty, I couldn't care less about your problem.
@Ichiban How do you know they are “passionate playstation fans”? Do you know any of them? Im sure some of them really are just haters and trolls lol
But yeah, i agree, anyone can have their own opinion on these shows. But i also think that no one is really claiming otherwise 🤷🏻♂️
You could even say that it’s also true the other way around. Like people bashing on others who did like the show, saying they’re fanboys and corporate shills.
@Ichiban They don't seem like fans at all, more like self-loathing malcontents.
And there's always this strange swarm of negative comments after every show by posters who only pop in to complain about shows and then disappear until the next one.
@PuppetMaster Oh yeah, you've got a point there.
What's the astro bot update? I only waiting for that
Back on topic. The show was good, not great in my opinion. But it’s partially my own fault, since i listened to those leakers about GoW coming to the SoP. Should’ve known better 😅
And once more i want to say i’m not down with this whole ‘show don't tell’ strategy of Sony first party studios. At this point i don't care if the games are ready or not, at least let us smell what you got cookin 🥘
Even just a tease or whatever, to keep the hype up at least
@Apollo2212 Yeah, I keep looking through the list above trying to figure out what everyone was excited about
@UltimateOtaku91 like other big titles.... being that it's releasing this yr, I'm sure ghosts will get it's own state of play.
@LogicStrikesAgain I do think it is clear that most of the leakers have lost their sources at Playstation since we no longer get accurate leaks since the layoffs.
@AdamNovice I'm sure like other titles, it will get it's own State of Play since it's releasing this yr
My wallet will cry more this yr lol
@LogicStrikesAgain couldn’t disagree with you more, ONLY that i have seen next to zero of anything you listed. Could they be great maybe! Could they be average to me like others this gen has been? Maybe, but truth is as a PS exclusive only guy, i am five years in and been underwhelmed extremely. Example, my favorite console of all time is Xbox 360 hands down. But even in a time when i am having my best console experience ever, I LOVED me some PS3 exclusives even tho playing them on that trash six axis controller was a thing. But i did cause the games were insane fun, PS4 was a little boring for me but there were games there even if not my style. PS5? I mean i love Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, beat it 3 times. But otherwise im ready to sell and wait for PS6. Happy for those that are happy but dang man, other show of games i can play on off set thumb sticks. With a few exclusives that i am just not so sure move me.
@MrMagic im sure you don’t, as you shouldn’t. Nor do i care that this state of play shown how lost Sony is this gen. If this was Xbox one vs PS4 show case it would be all about how 90% of the show was 3rd party. Cause Xbox has no games. Now it’s when are we (PS gamers) getting Xbox games? When you keep receipts it’s like free cloud saves the gift keeps giving. You do get free cloud cross platform saves right?
Shinobi, Tides of Annihilation and Darwin's Paradox were the highlights for me. Sonic Racing Crossworlds and the Lies of P dlc looks also cool.
@Apollo2212 i call it the Sony Xbox 5. Cause the best games coming to it lately are from MS. Can’t wait to see the reply’s that one get’s, but in all seriousness wow man they did this gen in on those live service dud’s. Cancel cancel, release canceled in 10 days cancel cancel wait until PS6. I get it, i come here for the exclusive games. Much like Nintendo. I use Xbox or a near complete built PC for my 3rd party games. But even PS3 that started slow and 360 being my all time favorite console ever, they had GAMES, and i played them on that trash can of a six axis controller. But this gen, i like the hardware, controller is decent for Sony standards and I like the Ui. But outside of like 2 games i am sitting here saying waste of money!! For me of course, not everyone. I am thinking take my losses and go to PS6 cause it will have some games ready in that time frame. I will for sure buy it , but if they treat it like PS5, that will be my last Sony console, i will just wait to play them few exclusives on PC or miss them. I know this isn’t popular on here, but yes there are very casual PS fans here like me. Not everyone thinks their you know what don’t stink!
Reveals I'm hyped for: Digimon Story: Time Stranger, Days Gone Remastered, Tides of Annihilation, and Saros.
Games with dates I am tracking: Lost Soul Aside, Split Fiction, Hell Is Us, MindsEye.
I'm also excited that Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Episode 1 is "free" with PS+ Extra/Premium.
@Jrs1 and you can play it all on PC
Glad I didn't bother watching by the sounds of it ...yay more remasters ...yawn
When was the last time playstation actually had a show you couldn't argue wasn't great. ...I know you will get the usual suspect who makes out every show they do is awesome....but honestly can't remember last show they did that wasnt average at the best...and most are below average and not even worth watching
@Avocado89 prefer convenience and a big couch 😀
Onimusha, FnaF, Lost Records on PS Plus, Saros, Lies of P and the new Dark Anthology game.
Very happy with this State of Play.
@Jrs1 I have mine connected to a 65 inch LG C3 with automatic boot to steam big picture and exclusively using a controller to control everything. So yeah I like the console like experience as well it’s a bit more effort to set up tho
@Avocado89 Aye i used to do that with a wee Beelink ser6 mini pc, wireless kb and mouse.
And no WipeOut 😞
Shinobi because LizardCube made it and they have brought back some of my most childhood classics remade like Wonderboy 3 and Alex the Kids. And when I saw this on Sega's announcement last year I couldn't believe it but it looks amazing and I hope it's challenging
@PacPern123 I can only Dream but Studio Liverpool was shut down I'm afraid
So, in summary, "meh". The PS5 lumbers on with no points of interest...
@LogicStrikesAgain @ButterySmooth30FPS
Couldn't agree more with @Ichiban.
Since the first PlayStation came out in 1994, I love and enjoy PlayStation. Bought all the consoles and handhelds on day one and played pretty much all the "classics" and more.
Yesterday's State of Play was pretty disappointing to me, and except for one game, there was nothing in there for me.
So I think it was anything but good. Yes, there are a lot of games on the horizon I'm looking forward to that haven't been shown or announced yet. And sure, there always are people out there complaining for the sake of it, and it feels like nothing can cure that.
But sometimes it bothers me a little as well (in the back of my head) that folks out there seem to see a lot of things so black and white. I wouldn't consider myself to hate almost anything.
Sometimes I get super excited about things, and sometimes I really dislike things. Of course, if I don't like something, I wouldn't write or talk about it (a lot). I always like to focus on things that make me happy. Yesterday I was pretty much disappointed that there wasn't anything interesting for me, and I even felt a bit sad for a moment.
Perhaps it has to do with me not being the target audience anymore and with all these changes in the gaming world that happened in the last 10 years or so, but there still are so many games that I haven't played, so even (hypothetically) if there won't be any games coming out anymore, the backlog is immense.
What stands is, if you don't like something, you should be able to express that without being called a hater. Wouldn't you agree?
Peace!
@ManaOwls I appreciate the effort of writing that text. But i dont think i have ever said that people shouldn't be able to express their opinion on anything. I’d be the last person to say so. Personally, i have no problem whatsover with people liking or disliking the show. I do have a bit of an issue with the assumption that the ‘hate’ is only coming from one side and not from both, as i’ve also seen people ‘hating’ on others for liking the show, calling them fanboys or whatever, which i think is equally wrong.
But to answer your question, yes, i would agree 😊
@LogicStrikesAgain I hear you. Fair point and I agree.
No matter what you like or dislike, no one should hate you. ✌️
So Microsoft doesn’t have any first party exclusives, but neither does Sony.
@Friendly Except for Wolverine, Fairgames, Ghost of Yotei, Intergalatic and Saros.
@LogicStrikesAgain apart from Yotei, we haven’t seen anything substantial from any of those.
Bit of cgi. That’s it.
It doesn't matter when you read it:
State of play = remastered Sony game with update for 10 euros
@ManaOwls The difference is that you expressed yourself in a mature way instead of exaggerated hysterics and histrionics.
Lost Soul Aside seems interesting. Looks Devil May Cry-ish in terms of the combat, kinda? I don't know anything else about it.
Other than that, I was into that Shinobi game, that looks solid. I'm tentatively excited to see more Borderlands 4, the Dynasty Warriors roguelite has my attention also.
But perhaps most importantly, the Onimusha gameplay really caught my eye. Never played the series before but the animations and swordplay there looked really interesting.
As the great philosopher, Aerosmith once sang, “ same old story, same old song and dance!”
Borderland 4 & Metal Eden looked very slick.
A lot of these are coming to the Xbox. Not a lot of exclusives shown. Seems like Game Pass is the place to be right now.
Finally got to watch the full show and didn't think it was too bad at all would give it a B I don't know why people put so much stock into "exclusives" there was a lot of games I liked the look of
Shinobi art of vengeance
Sonic racing crossroads
Lost soul aside
The midnight walk
Darwin's paradox
Hell is us
Tides of a annihilation
Metal Eden
Saros
I will pick up the Day's Gone Remaster, that's about all I see.
